Great first day for our new coach--saw 20+ players and Denard is staying! The Team, The Team, The Team!!!

Yea, you're right, either way this will define his time as AD.  I just wasn't as definitive so I could leave room for something non-coach related.  Like adding more seats to big house, new basketball stadium, or something.... but this move will likely trump anything else he could possibly do

He's now 1-0 in press conferences. Add a strong finish to the recruiting season mixed in with some fantastic coordinator hires and this could be the quick start this program really needs to be relevant that last game in November, then maybe nationally.

Reassuring but I don't think I'll fully relax until I see Denard on the field until September.

Who has mad photoshop skills and wants to make Force Ghosts of Bo, Yost, and Crisler advising Brady Hoke? If done well I'd imagine that has some banner potential. I can cut and paste but lack the skills to give something like that justice.

so this is indeed a good start.  Now he needs to keep the rest of the team, hire the rest of his staff (and hopefully bring some names we know), keep the rest of the commits, and fill out the class.  Lot of work.

Does anybody else find it a little strange that our AD is tweeting about specific players?

I'm really mixed.  I'm glad DB is taking a hands on approach, but it does seem a little weird.

If you guys think I'm not thinking straight.. just slap me upside the head.

PS.. great news tho!

it is strange that he is specifically talking about Denard staying, seeing that all he talked about was how no player is bigger than the program..  i.e.. the recruiting disaster with losing Hart etc..

It is a bit odd, he could have said everyone  is staying. I, for one, like to see the name "Denard" and "staying" together, it's just reassuring. Denard is a special player with a team first attitude, it's not like this kind of thing would go to his head.

I think the combination of him being reigning Big Ten POY, a change in offensive scheme when the previous one fit him like a glove, and him being one of the most exciting players in all of college football to watch all play into his name being brought up specifically. Nothing to do with any player being bigger than the program, there's just a lot of factors as to why everyone was on pins and needles whether Denard was staying or not.

Think DB is definitely showing signs of stress and fatigue. He's taken a lot of shit for this coaching search, obviously riding high on every victory at this point. Not a very diplomatic thing to say though, or tweet, if you're the schools AD. He needs to be above day-to-day player issues, at least publicly.

shouldnt the question be "is he going to play quarterback?" Instead of "is he staying?" I dont see how his staying but being moved elsewhere is much of a victory outside the fact that we all like having him around but i want a dreaded quarterback not a dreaded james rogers here-there-everywhere cornerback/wr master of nothing.

...along the lines of "There is no reason that he can't be Michigan's Quarterback next season".

And considering what on the roster, unless Devin Gardner undergoes incredible progress *and* Denard stands still, there isn't really anyone to replace him with as Denard is, at this point, a good bit better than Devin at this point in time (no knock on Devin Gardner, I think he'll be a great one but I think he needs another year of seasoning).

If Denard makes as big a jump from year 2-3 as he did from year 1-2,  I want him as our QB.  If he plateaus or falls off this year, it'll be time to look at a position change for his senior year..

Hmmm.... Am I the only one who thinks Michigan football is a little too much about David Brandon?  He has insinuated himself into the day-to-day details of the football program like no other AD (except, maybe, Bo).
