Curious that Kenpom currently has us ranked #25 and AP has us #39. We received just one (1) AP vote while Stephen F. Austin got three (3).... that guy must be really good.
Only Feb 3rd - long way to go.

There are 36 At Large Bids in the NCAA tournament. Michigan is definitely closer to the bubble than they are to the Top 25 right now.

Just need to take care of our business and the rankings will sort themselves out. Don’t necessarily care where we’re ranked as long as we have a March Madness seed in a few months (can’t believe how soon it is).

Mid season basketball polls have as much to do with Michigan getting or not getting an NCAA bid as Mgo points do here.
They redefine the word meaningless.

Somehow they actually beat mgopoints in pointlessness because at least 100 points here allows you to post.

I wonder how many with 99 points or less the last couple of months would have something positive to contribute. I’d bet quite a few.

Look at some of the november and december join dates... they have some points... which is really weird how this selective points working is operating recently.

This makes me feel a little better about my Mgoexistence

A team with a 13-8 isn't going to be ranked. That's just how it goes.
February 3rd, 2020 at 5:27 PM ^
Betting if that same team is 15-8 next Monday - we will be ranked.
Gotta win at home in the BIG!

I doubt it actually. Right now the most losses any ranked team has is six. It won't change that much in one week.
February 3rd, 2020 at 6:09 PM ^
Yep this is the point in the season when voters aren't capable of making smart comparisons of one teams 20+ games vs another teams so they pretty much go by losses.
I will say, without Livers Michigan probably is a borderline top 40 team. So if that's how someone voted vs assessing M's overall resume, 39th is potentially justified.
In addition to 25th in kenpom, M is also 25th in Torvik and most importantly 31st in NET. Those are obviously rankings that use the full season so they blend with and without Livers.

Just make it in and hopefully win one game. That'll do. Get Christopher in the class and profit.

This is a really rational take. If we make the tournament and managed to win one game, given the current roster make up and the coaching change, it would be hard to call this season a failure. Not necessarily an overwhelming success, but certainly a decent season.

Stephen F. Austin?
Did not know they made a sequel to Debbie Does Dallas
February 3rd, 2020 at 8:21 PM ^
LOL, you're dating yourself (and myself) with that reference!

Apparently this miss Debbie was dating everyone. “Allegedly”

Like they say, win baby win! Get this 3rd win in row and Michigan gets closer to being ranked. It doesn't really matter that much to me of not being ranked. Just beat Ohio State tonight.
