Anyone believe there is a chance one of the freshmen RB's could be the starter?
I was just reading on the Detroit Free Press page that Hoke is implying Hopkins is the front runner as the starting rb,but not to forget the freshmen coming in. Does anyone believe Rawls or Hayes could come in and be a starter from day one? I'm sticking with the idea Hopkins will be the starter next season and for the whole season.
wanting to post this for a while, but your wait for a relevant time ended prematurely I'm afraid.
Never saw this picture in my life until two mintues before I posted it. I do see why people negged it though, its placement is too random. Hope some people enjoyed.
incredible. uplifting. outstanding. 10/10. a lolcat for the ages.
I believe than either one will have a legitamate shot at claiming the starting job, just like everyone on the team. Will they actually get it? God, I have no idea.
One of the new freshman could be the starter, but Hopkins showed moments of extreme quality last year. If he can learn to hold onto the ball and master the schemes, he might be quite the talent.
If the last three years taught you anything it should be that you simply can't predict with freshman just how things will go.
A phrase that could define a season.

From what I've heard from the Jackson's about Rawls, he's gonna be starting, all american, heisman winning, nfl crushing, barry sanders 2.0
That sounds like the RB equivalent of 1/2 a Clausen unit
.0032 Powlus unit. Not plural as it's less than one. Hey, I just popped my grammarnazi cherry!
to pop your own cherry.
done that?

That sounds like the kind of thing your avatar would do.

At least I'm fairly certain she has reproductive organs. I'm imagining a shiny green Barbie like genital area on yours.

And feelings, which you have now hurt. I hope you're happy, you big meanie.

That sounds like the "gag gift" she used on her cherry.

I would have pegged her as a Pocket Rocket type (also the name of a camp stove--true story), but to each her own, I suppose.
Continuing with our current Onion/gag gift theme: http://www.theonion.com/articles/ironic-porn-purchase-leads-to-unironic-ejaculation,1567/
That made me laugh.
...OR your grammarz cherry. Kinda sick, actually.
Is anyone else upset that Fitz apparently hasn't gotten his sick nasty speed back? I was a sad panda when I read that in the practice writeup.
Hoping for a good summer for Fitz. Maybe by fall camp.
I'm starting to think he is a myth and that I would have a better chance of spotting Bigfoot or Loch Ness in the backfield.
I also am upset that he isn't back to full speed. I think he could be excellent if he can stay healty.
I heard when RichRod left he took some of the speed with him....
Can one shred speed?
Could you post a link to this practice write up?
and ye shall receive.
I'm not one to draw too much from Spring Ball especially in lieu of all the changes and adjustments going on but he looks like he's thinking about running the ball. Just that .5 second of thought makes a HUGE difference. Hopefully he regains his confidence and turns the tailback instincts back on. I'm patient. I think he'll show up this year.
that this RB class will be considered one of the best we've had in quite some time, when all is said and done. I have followed recruiting for awhile, and I've stopped falling into the trap of "addition by subtraction." Losing upperclassmen usually hurts at any position. These guys aren't going to come in and punch everyone's dicks off. But again, I really think both of these backs are special, regardless of whether or not they contribute early.
Punch everyone's dicks off? I guess that is a good thing.
He wasn't even the best RB on his HS team last year. He was having a poor year (except catching the ball out of the backfield) until he got hurt. His back up came in and put up over a 1,000 on the ground. That being said, I hope Justice proves me wrong.
As for the OP's question- Thomas Rawls thinks he can.
Just based on his offer sheet I think "isnt a college RB" is a bit of a stretch.

True, but to Justice's credit, Detrick Goff (his backup) is no slouch. At 6'3 220 he is going to dominate as a runner at the high school level just about anywhere. Hayes started the season a little slower than he would've wished, but the injury really set him back. He had a nice offer list, and I think will prove his worth as the versatile offensive threat he is. As for Goff, he is getting some D1 interest as well. Transferred to Grand Blanc from Mississippi.
+1 for "punch everyone's dicks off". We can only hope that this phrase will enter the American sports lexicon.
Just sayin'
Possible but seems unlikely to be the opening day starter since they didn't enroll early. With that said, I still see them getting reps throughout the year and maybe by years end.
I expect Rawls, Hayes, or Hopkins to be the starting RB.
Hopkins, Cox, Fitz, Rawls, Smith, Shaw, and Hayes seem like they all have a fairly equal shot at this point barring injury. Running back is one position where a guy can come in and be a contributor from day one. At this point it would seem likely that Hopkins, Smith, and Shaw are the most likely guys to see carries given that they have the most experience. Although Smith is relatively small and does not have explosive speed or the ability to crush blitzing linebackers I like him as a receiver and blocker. I think he ends up as the prototypical third down back and Hopkins and a healthy Shaw are the primary backs.
Whether this is the case in November is anybody's guess. Whoever wins the job will probably be the best blocker for Denard, most effective receiver, and a guy who consistently can convert on short yardage.
will soon be regulated to the pine benches located in the rear of the Teams sideline. Then at the point the have completed there mandatory red shirt paperwork they will be allowed to participate on the field with wonderous speed and agility with full knowledge of their playbook and code that is required to be a Michigan Wolverine.
I hear Hayes is like Denard Robinson except faster.
are you high?
He's like Raoul Duke, but higher!

Your avatar makes this comment hilarious.
on kick returns. Special teams is a way to prove yourself early. Perhaps Justice could make an immediate impact fielding and returning kicks. Honestly, with all the backs we have it'll be difficult for any of the frosh to break into the rotation. (Note: If this happens we'll know we have something special! This is my cue for Monkey Dancing! I have not Monkey Danced in quite some time. I must Monkey Dance this year.)
A freshman stud at PR would go along way as well!
The Summer/Fall practices and competition should be ver interesting! I'm excited. Are you looking for someone to be the homerun hitter? I know I'm looking for that guy! Carlos was our last back to have that potential on every down but the poor guy was always banged up. Honestly with Denard and the experienced receivers we have, we're only one homerun hitter away from crushing everyone. "Which way do you want to die?"

I could definitely see Justice returning kicks early on. As I have said before, he is a versatile offensive threat. Getting the ball in his hands on some returns wouldn't be a bad idea. Barring any fumble problems, but I don't foresee that.
