I'll update this tonight after I rewatch the Spring Game and I can pause on the DVR to confirm a lot of the 2nd and 3rd team players.
----------------------------
Also, what am I doing at QB?
Basically, I think that if we can get away with redshirtting Morris this year...we will. That said, he'll get ALL the #2 reps in practice, and he'll be first off the bench if needed.
But if we have some amazing year in terms of health where all we needs is someone to take garbage snaps at the end of games...Cleary and Swieca can take those.
And don't give me the "game experience" excuse. He won't learn anything from turning around and handing the ball off to the Hayes, Johnson, etc. who run into the 2nd and 3rd team OLine.
So he can participate in practice as the backup, we can treat him like the backup, just don't put him in games unless you need him. That's all I'm saying. We've had years were the starting QB was fine all season. Hopefully this is one of those years and we'll be fine with Devin leading the way all year.
But if Cleary or Swieca have to play, would you agree that it would be "rougher?"
So with that said, I don't understand your point. What's the next best option? Are you just saying that we should've taken another QB last year? Or were you just trying to say we're f****d beyond Devin Gardner and leaving it at that?
If you're talking to me, I was trying to respond to a different comment. Not sure what happened. Something funky happened with your comment, too, it looks like, so maybe there's a glitch on this thread.
Not sure why the last one "threaded" the way it did. Nonetheless...carry on.
Where is that Harrison guy people were talking about on Twitter?
Spike told him "strike while you're hot!"
DeAnthony Hardison.
...Detroit Crockett.
...Hardison enrolled in the fall. See this article.
Hardison is apparently a bright student and knows what it takes to woo the ladies.

He runs too upright, but he found the holes and made some plays! Maybe if we didn't have 20 RBs this fall he may have actually gotten some garbage runs.
Considering he is slated # 1 at SS and FS .... We might want to refrain from starting him at both safety spots
i still don't get why we don't play Black at SDE, play QWash and Pipkins together and move Black inside when one needs a breather.
Reason #1: We have several guys who can play SDE (Strobel, Heitzman, Wormley, Godin, etc.). We don't have many who can play 3-tech (Black, Henry...).
Reason #2: Washington and Pipkins are both nose tackles. Their skill sets say so.
Reason #3: If Washington and Pipkins are your two best defensive tackles, then when they get tired, you've got your SDE (Black) changing positions, your #3 nose tackle entering the game (Henry?), and your backup SDE (Heitzman?) entering the game. That's a lot of moving parts, and probably not conducive to getting great production.
Reason #4: Maybe the coaches think Black is better at 3-tech.
Yeah agree...I think many of us watch the d-line and see our two best players are Wash & Pip, but they play the same position. We want to see what they can do together, but it's probably better for the team if they play apart. But, the interior line in the spring game got good penetration, Black included.
I could certainly see them playing both guys in goal-line or 3rd-and-1 or 4th-and-1 situations. I don't think they'll be used together on normal downs, though.
Pipkins has a higher ceiling than QWash but right now he is not a better overall player. Everyone should go watch QW in the Outback Bowl and see how he just destroyed their OL much of the game. He doesn't have the athleticsm that Pipkins has but he's better against the run.
But after watching the Spring Game, we rotated those 2 at NG quite often. I think the idea is to always have someone fresh at that position.
If you play them both, then pull Pipkins, you're sliding a tired Q over to NG and a tired Black to DT. I can see how that would get problematic late in games.
You're better off just subbing them 1 for 1 and giving them equal snaps.
In "and short" and "goalline" situations then you'd obviously play them both...but that's only a handful of plays per game.
The defensive line is going to rotate a ton. Pipkins and everyone in the two-deep will get plenty of snaps.
Who backs up Black?
Is Henry ready to be a rotation player? Do you move Wormley over like we did with RVB and Heininger?
I think Henry's going to be ready this fall. You might see Wormley there or Heitzman or someone like that, but I've heard good things about Henry and I like what I've seen.
We might have a solid 8 on the line...plus a few more contributors.
If Clark/Ojemudia, Washington/Pipkins, Black/Henry, Wormley/Heitzman can all combine at their respective positions into 1 high level players then this is a very promising line.
Plus you've got Charlton, Godin and Strobel getting snaps here in there. Not to mention we haven't see Poggi and Hurst.

I seem to remember Mattison saying in an interview something along the lines of starter takes 5 snaps and then subs for 2 or 3 snaps.
I was at the game and it looked like to me that Delonte Hollowel Was running with the first team at corner.
I've heard the same regarding Hollowell with Countess still out. Avery is still the nickel. I wouldn't count out Dymonte in the fall though if Countess isn't 100%.
Countess has been out of contact stuff for the spring and Avery and Taylor are our best two CBs after Countess?
They both played outside in the bowl game when Countess and Floyd were out.
Part of the reason Ace Sanders went crazy in the slot.

When we play him, that'll move Avery or Taylor (or today Hollowell) off the starting lineup.

I pretty sure I heard Mattison say Dymonte Thomas is very good at rushing the QB, and we can probably expect him to be used as blitzer in some passing situations.
Jeremy Clark is an interesting player; by all accounts the kid is a very hard hitting safety prospect and he showed off some of his skills today.
I waste a whole lot of my time on Michigan football, so an April depth chart should be no different. If you'd like to waste your time doing something else, be my guest.
They took 2 last year, 3 this year...why do you think they should take more than that for the upcoming class?
Even if you take just 2, you have 7 WRs over 3 years and because Chesson redshirted only 1 of those 7 (Darboh) will be an upperclassman.
Also you have to think either Hayes or Norfleet could move as well.
I don't think taking 2 then 3 then 2 then 3 is particularly bad. What we need is ELITE WRs, right now we've got bodies, but no one (yet) has proven to be an All-Conference gamebreaker.
Someone tagged this post as "flamebait" when there is nothing disrespectful or unreasonable in it. Some posters on this board are far too free with downvotes. They should be reserved for flaming or trolling, not just opinions that you disagree with.
Wide receiver corps, not core. Unless you think the center of our wide receivers will be light.
That said, I also disagree. We've got three more frosh coming in the fall, and as long as we take 2+ in this next class, we should be in good shape.
