Reminds me of the NU game last year. We were up 15, and then they hit 5 straight 3s, and generally just couldn't miss in the 2nd half. It's a darned good thing we're scoring, because when a team is this hot from outside, completely putting them away is not really on the table.

Anyone else notice how much more professional the BTN seems without Tim Doyle?
February 9th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
If by "professional" you mean not referring to players as The Butterfly then yes, yes I do.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
wait is gus johnson not talking about growing a stache.......the butterfly baby
February 9th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
Yeah it actually feels like a real basketball game on a real network, thankfully this "butterfly" crap has not gotten anywhere past Tim Doyle
February 9th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
I'm only able to follow this on Gamecast, so I have no idea about the details of the game, but I really think they should try to stop NW from scoring. That would help.
February 9th, 2011 at 9:58 PM ^
Now that Morgan has established himself as "Godzilla," it seems that a more appropriate nickname for Darius Morris would be "Mothra."
February 9th, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
Getting a little close....
February 9th, 2011 at 8:14 PM ^
Uhhh are they gonna miss anytime soon
February 9th, 2011 at 8:14 PM ^
FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
February 9th, 2011 at 8:14 PM ^
Gotta figure NW will miss a couple of these threes down the stretch. They have been dead-on this half.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:14 PM ^
What the hell man?!
February 9th, 2011 at 8:14 PM ^
Glad they just made a nice quick 14 points in about 2 minutes. Fuck.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:14 PM ^
I've gone from working to drinking in like three poesssions.

February 9th, 2011 at 8:15 PM ^
That lead went evaporated quickly. D Mo is awesome but he still plays out of control a lot and its hurting us.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:16 PM ^
This is too close.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:16 PM ^
Jordan Morgan is not amused by this bullshit.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
That was a sick oop. We needed that.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
I think we need to go deep on the depth chart and start getting something sponsored by Motel 8.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
In a close game late, I'm not sure I like the ally-oop. It seems a bit high-risk compared to a bounce-bass and lay-up.
/curmedgeon-ing.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:18 PM ^
Well, we just missed on a bounce pass and layup.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:34 PM ^
I didn't think old-timers listened to bounce-bass filled music. Not sure how that would help us win either, but it sounds pretty bumpin
February 9th, 2011 at 8:18 PM ^
We took their best shot and look like we'll hold them off...pretty solid
February 9th, 2011 at 8:18 PM ^
hot dogging is really getting on my nerves. celebrate after the play.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
Jordan Morgan's statline is truly amazing so far...
27 PTS (11-13 FG, 5/8 FT), 1 REB, 0 AST, 3 BLK
Not sure I've ever seen that before.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:29 PM ^
Club 33 trillion, 27 billion, 1 million, 1 thousand and three?
February 9th, 2011 at 8:35 PM ^
One other really weird stat: after going 1-2 at the line tonight, Stu Douglass is 3-10 on FTs for the season.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
Atleast we make em when we need to
February 9th, 2011 at 8:20 PM ^
I double post like Morgan dunks. Hard and without prejudice.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
Yeah but I think D Mo was expecting an Oop there as well.,we need to hit our free throws.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:20 PM ^
airballs from both teams tonite.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:21 PM ^
way to hold serve. don't lose focus and take care of business against IU. then who knows, maybe catch sparty in the standings.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:21 PM ^
I am pretty thrilled not to have to play Northwestern anymore, barring a Big 10 tournament meeting...
February 9th, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
but a win....a much needed win
props to Jordan Morgan on a spectacular game
February 9th, 2011 at 8:23 PM ^
Don't like how we finished by letting them back in the game, but we got the W so i'm happy. The boys are still alive, making a run at the tourney hopefully.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:23 PM ^
Young team still needs to learn how to put the hammer down, but they managed to keep ahead of NW and pull away at the end.
February 9th, 2011 at 10:06 PM ^
The increment between teams isn't as large as it used to be. Consequently, the team that is trailing almost always makes a run. It's almost become a cliche. Sometimes you just have to give credit to the guys on the other side of the ball.
At any rate, it was a very good win; the W-L column doesn't have a column for "style points."
February 9th, 2011 at 10:15 PM ^
Lack of experience and mental toughness are more probably factors. I'm not necessarily lookout for a huge blowout, but how about not being sloppy handling the ball and not going into a scoring drought? And especially not turning the ball over in the backcourt and letting them get an easy hoop right after they just scored?
Sure, the other team makes a run. But it sure would be nice to see the run stop before the lead gets under five.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:25 PM ^
Good win!
February 9th, 2011 at 8:25 PM ^
awesome coach. i can't think of another coach who alters the approach game-by-game as much as he does, depending on the opponent.
he adjusts the D based on the opponents strength.
and tonite, pounding it inside against a team lacking in skilled big men on D.
can't wait until next year.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:27 PM ^
This "hollow it out" idea is gaining steam in my brain.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:27 PM ^
shame on me for bad mouthing morgan after he opened the game by missing a layup. He would go on to miss just once more the rest of the game.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
he shoulda made that one too
/s
February 9th, 2011 at 8:31 PM ^
The future is bright, I fully expect to compete in the upper tier of the B1G next year and definitely a tourney bid. Add to that some solid players coming in, I see good things on the horizon.
February 9th, 2011 at 8:33 PM ^
That NW comeback scared the crap out of me. Somehow you just knew that was coming.
Beautiful offense tonight. We had 21 made two-pointers to only six threes. That's really what Beilein would like to see more often.
