According to Rivals. Posada reaffirmed.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:18 PM ^
Excellent news. We need a couple more of offensive recruits as well. I'm hoping for another OL, a QB, and a TE.
Defense we need to continue recruiting safeties, linebackers, and DL (specifically DT's).
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:10 PM ^
I agree we need a TE in this class since we're down to 2 on the depth chart. Rivals has Heitzman listed as a DE but Scouts has him as a TE (unless you click on his profile then it says DE). I also see that Frank Clark is listed as a potential TE. Anyone know what kind of skills these guys can bring to the TE position?
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:34 PM ^
Heitzman has stated he believes he will be playing DE, and the coaches talking with him (other than Hoke and Singletary) were Smith and Mattison, so it at least looks like he's more of a DE prospect than a TE.
That said, he's tallish (6'2"+) with the frame to be big, so as long as he can catch the ball he'd probably be a good TE.
Keep in mind there have been rumors of Ricardo Miller moving to TE, so we might not be as desperately in need of one in this class as it looks.

We need a OL and DL born in Michigan to see the light.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:28 PM ^
Great news. We have a lot of lineman that are juniors and seniors.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:10 PM ^
I'd hope Hayes might've been able to one up michigan to some of the potential recruits, but I have a feeling Mcclure was the one who probably got the most out of this visit.
Hopefully it also secured current commits like Fisher, Posada, etc.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:13 PM ^
He wasn't in Ann Arbor. He was visiting UF - more likely that he committed there than reconfirming his commitment to UM while in Gainesville.
Glad to hear about Posada. Interested to hear about Willingham and McClure.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:13 PM ^
A lot of good news should be headed our way this year.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:14 PM ^
Maybe even this week.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:15 PM ^
I like the sound of that. Hoke and the gang are on fire.
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:58 PM ^
Dennis Blundon on fire today!!!!
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:16 PM ^
Seriously though, that would be great. It looks like Hoke is doing a great job filling out what a lot of people (myself included) thought might be a bit of a lost cause.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:45 PM ^
Good play!
<congratulatory butt-slap>

I read that post in your avatar's voice and I felt a little guilty.
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:20 PM ^
She's cool with it, I'm sure.
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
"Man, I'm not on yo team..."
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:17 PM ^
I wouldn't smack Dave Chappelle / Prince's butt even if he was on my team and he was pulling his amazing basketball moves.
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:05 PM ^
But he willmake you pancakes afterward, even if your team loses.
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:24 PM ^
".......pancakes."
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:16 PM ^
I honestly must say that I would love to have your job over these next couple of weeks. Wait... who am I kidding. I'd love to have your job every day of the week.
But you're too damn good at it.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:16 PM ^
I both love and hate your cryptic posts, but I do appreciate all the work that you have done. Thanks, Tom.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:17 PM ^
Tom what are you hiding?! Give us some sort of a hint!
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:18 PM ^
Isn't that kind of hint enough?
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:22 PM ^
No I need more! This is worse than crack for me. I don't know how you do it. I would be renting planes to put the info on Plan Banners, Smoke Messages, interrupting radio broadcasts, Everything. I give you a lot of credit for not spilling the beans....I guess that's why so many recruits feel alright giving you a TON of info. Glad your a UM fan.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:52 PM ^
I guess that's why so many recruits feel alright giving you a TON of info.Exactly. Tom's job depends on keeping that trust.

January 23rd, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
directly following a post hoping for good news... That kind of cryptic I can handle.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
one would think that would be enough of a hint, yes
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
For a while there was a good deal of chatter about Hobbi, but from what Rivals tells me he's only interested in ASU, UCLA, and USC.
Do you know if he would have received any attention from SDSU while Hoke was there, or would he have been too big a fish for the Aztecs to go after?
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
Probably not too big of a fish considering New Mexico was part of his top 5
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:19 PM ^
The good news probably won't be much of a surprise. You can probably figure out what it might be.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:17 PM ^
Tom is probably referring to the Jan 28th announcements of Bryant and Clark. Tom, any preview about McClure and Willingham?
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:19 PM ^
I'll have updates on them tomorrow in the Weekly Update. McClure could decide midweek this week. Willingham might decide this week, too.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:23 PM ^
Thanks Tom for the update, can't wait to see what you have to say tomorrow in your weekly post.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:25 PM ^
Not much been said other than speculation by us peasants.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:43 PM ^
I could care less about Fisher......he is lazy and beats up on munchkins in northern MI. He is no big loss in this class
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:00 PM ^
A. I think you mean 'couldn't' care less
B. I bet if he was still firmly committed to us you would be ecstatic about it.
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
First post on Mgoblog and you're bashing a recruit. Classy.
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
until i have reason to believe otherwise, i'll assume he's an MSU or OSU fan and neg him on sight.
jake, we'd love to have you.
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:05 PM ^
Neg bang party.
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:05 PM ^
Between your post and your handle I'm having trouble deciding which is more classless. Let's just go ahead and call it a tie, shall we?
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:09 PM ^
NEG HIM! NEG HIM TO BOLIVIA NOW!!!
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
David Mitchell can probably explain this best:
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:44 PM ^
I love how someone whose MgoUsername is "Gerald R. Ford" calls himself a peasant.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:26 PM ^
Let's not forget Thomas Rawls announcing on the 31st !
