I hate Michael Wilbon. He is a camera whore, just likes to be on tv, and I don't think Michigan fans are that bad. Would we really throw out Les Miles if he doesn't win 10 games next year? or has immediate BCS success?
January 10th, 2011 at 6:00 PM ^
He's a cubs fan and went to Northwestern...he's got plenty to be bitter about.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:11 PM ^
He has to sit next to Tony Kornheiser every day. That would make me suicidal.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:25 PM ^
Not sure which of the two is worse to be honest...

from the outside it looks like we ran RR right out if town
I don't think that's the consensus view. The guy didn't win, plain and simple. After the OSU game, most rival fans were of the "How can you possibly keep this guy?" perspective.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:06 PM ^
Northwestern grad who usually does not have nice things to say about us.
January 10th, 2011 at 7:17 PM ^
I wholeheartedly agree.
January 10th, 2011 at 5:54 PM ^
that anything may be possible at this point
January 10th, 2011 at 5:55 PM ^
I know Miles is staying put. Hokamania! Hokapacalypse!
January 10th, 2011 at 5:56 PM ^
someone find out what Herbstreit is saying!

Presser at 11 team meeting at 4
from the world of twits
January 10th, 2011 at 6:00 PM ^
links?
January 10th, 2011 at 6:17 PM ^
gots to get this paper done. It's not like there aren't 80 million other rumors out there though so who knows.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
Has confirmed the 4 pm meeting tomorrow via twitter - doesnt say what the meeting is for though
January 10th, 2011 at 6:01 PM ^
that makes no sense. it is now 6. you're saying the presser would be before the team meeting?
January 10th, 2011 at 6:13 PM ^
They announce at 11, players meet Les is More Miles at 4.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:22 PM ^
why wouldn't the call an informative meeting first? i.e., "hey guys, i hired les miles as your new coach."
January 10th, 2011 at 6:22 PM ^
Miles is the featured speaker at the AFCA Convention in Dallas tomorrow. An additional press conference and a players meeting in Baton Rouge is a lot to squeeze in. Granted; he does have known time management issues.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:26 PM ^
haha, +1 (figuratively speaking)
January 10th, 2011 at 6:14 PM ^
Wait, I thought the rumor this morning was that there was a team meeting today, and that DB was announcing at happy hour of the coaches conference in Dallas? What rumor do I believe?
January 10th, 2011 at 7:19 PM ^
All of them forever.
January 10th, 2011 at 5:59 PM ^
The only way LSU does this is that the alumni and big boosters want him out or don't care if he leaves because they know they can get Pelini.
January 10th, 2011 at 8:07 PM ^
sort of like how we knew we could get Harbaugh
January 10th, 2011 at 6:02 PM ^
There's only ONE word that could make me doubt this: Tenuda.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:03 PM ^
I'd be a fan of hiring Scot Loeffler as the OC/QB Coach.
Head Coach in waiting
January 10th, 2011 at 6:20 PM ^
Yesss. The quarterback maker.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:28 PM ^
HC in waiting is a bad idea. Causes recruiting restrictions (see Will Muschamp rule).
Also, are you Crex's unborn child?
January 10th, 2011 at 6:32 PM ^
Can you fill me in? I know that Texas tried this and it fell through. What the heck happened? Can just hire in as OC and tell him he would have a good shot at it?
January 10th, 2011 at 6:28 PM ^
Yes - this exaclty.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:08 PM ^
Abort, abort, abort.......
January 10th, 2011 at 6:08 PM ^
They know he is more of a negative than a positive at this point...
January 10th, 2011 at 6:08 PM ^
If what Brian said was true, and Brandon is interviewing Miles as we speak, with this comig out, we could hear about our new caoch within 24 hours.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:12 PM ^
But does anyone think that part of the waiving of the buyout includes not trying to bring any currently committed recruits with him?
LSU would be in a much better situation with their top 5 recruiting class and a high profile coaching hire than it would if they lost Miles, the recruiting class went kablooey, and the coach is left scrambling for recruits.
This sounds far fetched, but I have trouble believing that LSU would waive the buyout without gaining something...
January 10th, 2011 at 6:16 PM ^
The only problem with this is its not in writing and a players comitment isnt in writing either. The only way i see this is the contracts language is poor, pelini is going to go to LSU or it's in milies contract that he can waive a portion to go to Michigan.
January 10th, 2011 at 8:31 PM ^
A coach can't control what recruits do. And coaches who leave on good terms typically leave the recruits be. And recruits don't tend to follow a coach in significant numbers.
January 10th, 2011 at 7:45 PM ^
This is what they are saying on the Scout LSU Board and the Tiger Droppings Board they are willing to wave part of the buyout if Miles leaves the recruits there
January 11th, 2011 at 6:37 AM ^
That adds some context. Thank you. (Can't vote)
January 10th, 2011 at 6:13 PM ^
i could live with that
January 10th, 2011 at 6:17 PM ^
although impossible, i'd much rather have Magee.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:26 PM ^
Can't get enough of those first-down inside handoffs to Smith?
January 10th, 2011 at 6:34 PM ^
So annoying. Of all the play calls this entire year, the obvious ones to Sir Crunch-a-lot were the most frustrating.
January 10th, 2011 at 6:40 PM ^
