Harbaugh reaction/Late afternoon Overflow Thread

Other thread's getting a little cluttered. On the plus side, it's Friday and drinking sounds much more appealing than getting dong-punched.
Within the realm of reality, where do we go next?

I agree with UMxWolverines that DB should just go ahead and hire Hoke now and get on with life.  Hoke evidently bleeds maze n blue and really wants to coach Michgan football when there appears to be alot of popular coaches that don't want anything to do with the program.

At least Hoke will bring enthusiasm, dedication and put his all into making Michigan a great program again.  I can't see how he won't be good for Michigan?  I say give him a chance!  One can't be a great football coach without getting the chance to prove themselves, just like someone at work that wants to advance their position.

The Harbough boat has sunk and besides, why go after a guy and offer him the world to coach at Michigan when he evidently has no desire to do so.  Even if DB would have made a better offer than anyone else, we would end up with a great coach, but not fully dedicated to Michigan, and most likely always thinking about someplace else in the future.

I think Hoke is respected by his present and former players, assistant coaches, admin and student bodies, so where is the downside to hire a guy that has turned two programs around?  He didn't just get off the turnip wagon to do this.

Just my thoughts on the whole coaching fiasco.  By the way, I think RR had to go.  I was for giving him another year until the PS game and ever since, and the bowl game was absolutely disgusting to watch.

Thanks for providing a place for me to post my two cents on the subject.

Your unfounded comment makes absolutely no sense. I understand you're reasonably new so I'll just say this: try harder next time. Harbaugh went where he wanted to go and this in no way reflects badly on our AD. What would you rather he do? Have DB kidnap and torture him until he signs a contract? Get real.

If we as a fan base keep acting like we would do a better job than our coaches and AD's, criticize them for no reason and attack them incessantly in hate threads, we're no better than the media and are promoting a negative atmosphere for the program we supposedly love. This cloud of negativity has proven counterproductive. Fans should either get on board or stay the hell out of the way.

I agree about fans being supportive of coaches and the athletic department.

But...people have said that JH was very interested in the Michigan job in December before he became the hottest coaching candidate.  Basically they are saying that if we fired RR after the OSU game then JH would be our coach right now.  That is why people are blaming DB.

I don't agree necessarily, but I do think his time line ended up biting him in the butt.

Is it true we can't even make an announcement until Wednesday? If so, why are we freaking out on not hearing anything?

(don't answer that second part. I already know the answer as to why we are freaking out)

Eff, Eff, Eff, Eff, Eff.

I have been mentally preparing myself for this news for five days, and still.  eFFFFFFFFF.

New sign in my office: "I punch Niners fans on sight."  Overreaction?

That's my thinking as well. I would have been fine if RR stayed or went but make the friggin' decision a month ago so that we have some form of coaching staff on January 7th, as opposed to being 2 days removed from firing one with most people's first choice replacement staying in SF.

It could work out but if it doesn't, a lot of people will point to Brandon's delay as being one of the reasons.

I was concerned when I realized RR was coming back for a third season.  Season two showed me all I needed to know.  I had been assuming since this year's Penn St. game that Brandon was working the back channels lining up his next coach..... boy was I wrong.

A positive result should not excuse the poor planning and execution, his handling of this situation has been a debacle. This idea that he knows what he is doing solely because he was the CEO of two companies is silly. Sometimes in life skill sets do not translate between industries like we would hope and in this particular instance, I.e. the handling of a coaching change, there may not have been a scenario in his other career that prepared DB for this challenge.
