Saw him about 10 years ago at State and Hoover prior to a game. Always thought it would be funny if they introduced a third Steiner brother, Rudolf, played by none other than your avatar, the Genius, aka Leaning Lanny Poffo.

The Hokeslam. I look forward to seeing it, maybe 6 years down the road, 8 times in one season.

And he has to sing - I am a real American. Fight for the rights of every man........
January 7th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
I don't want Hoke, but your post does have a certain appeal.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:13 PM ^
1. YES!!! If we are going to end up with Hoke, do it NOW and get this man on the recruiting trail, where he is rumored by Tom Brady to be pretty damn good.
2. He is a hansome man.

I agree with UMxWolverines that DB should just go ahead and hire Hoke now and get on with life. Hoke evidently bleeds maze n blue and really wants to coach Michgan football when there appears to be alot of popular coaches that don't want anything to do with the program.
At least Hoke will bring enthusiasm, dedication and put his all into making Michigan a great program again. I can't see how he won't be good for Michigan? I say give him a chance! One can't be a great football coach without getting the chance to prove themselves, just like someone at work that wants to advance their position.
The Harbough boat has sunk and besides, why go after a guy and offer him the world to coach at Michigan when he evidently has no desire to do so. Even if DB would have made a better offer than anyone else, we would end up with a great coach, but not fully dedicated to Michigan, and most likely always thinking about someplace else in the future.
I think Hoke is respected by his present and former players, assistant coaches, admin and student bodies, so where is the downside to hire a guy that has turned two programs around? He didn't just get off the turnip wagon to do this.
Just my thoughts on the whole coaching fiasco. By the way, I think RR had to go. I was for giving him another year until the PS game and ever since, and the bowl game was absolutely disgusting to watch.
Thanks for providing a place for me to post my two cents on the subject.

Who cares at this point... did you guys hear.... The Mathlete is having triplets!! Wow! What are the odds... (literally, what are they?)

Since we can't post in his diary entry... Congrats Mathlete! Awesome news! You're going to be a very busy, very tired man, shortly...
January 7th, 2011 at 5:22 PM ^
Congrats Mathlete, if you're reading - thanks for all the great content this season.

If he was evaluated using the same criteria he evaluated RR he would be looking for a new job right now.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
Rodriguez, fair or unfair, got three years. Let's give Brandon at least three days to find his replacement.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
I was thinking the same thing. I want to know the outcome as badly as anybody, but whoa.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
if rich rod got to keep his job after the horror than dave definitely gets to keep his after this although 3 years down the line if he hasn't greatly improved the defense and consistently beaten OSU, MSU and ND it could be a different story
January 7th, 2011 at 5:18 PM ^
You do realize RichRod wasn't the coach when The Horror happened, right?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:22 PM ^
Thats the second person to fuck that up that I've seen just this week...
Unless he was thinking of Toledo. Different F-up altogether.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:30 PM ^
now that he is gone, everything is officialy RR's fault
/s
January 7th, 2011 at 5:20 PM ^
You realize Rich Rod wasn't the coach when we lost to App State ("The Horror") right?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:20 PM ^
The Horror? Surely you mean...nevermind. I don't even want to get into it.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
Echo. Hopefully the dude realizes that Rich was NOT our coach during The Horror.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:24 PM ^
WTF are you talking about?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:33 PM ^
Comments like these are why we need the negbang back. Jesus.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
Your unfounded comment makes absolutely no sense. I understand you're reasonably new so I'll just say this: try harder next time. Harbaugh went where he wanted to go and this in no way reflects badly on our AD. What would you rather he do? Have DB kidnap and torture him until he signs a contract? Get real.
If we as a fan base keep acting like we would do a better job than our coaches and AD's, criticize them for no reason and attack them incessantly in hate threads, we're no better than the media and are promoting a negative atmosphere for the program we supposedly love. This cloud of negativity has proven counterproductive. Fans should either get on board or stay the hell out of the way.
Cheers, MGoHaters

How hot do you like your Chang sauce?
January 7th, 2011 at 6:06 PM ^
I agree about fans being supportive of coaches and the athletic department.
But...people have said that JH was very interested in the Michigan job in December before he became the hottest coaching candidate. Basically they are saying that if we fired RR after the OSU game then JH would be our coach right now. That is why people are blaming DB.
I don't agree necessarily, but I do think his time line ended up biting him in the butt.
January 7th, 2011 at 6:30 PM ^
He should have worked this out after OSU
January 7th, 2011 at 5:26 PM ^
Just poor execution.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:39 PM ^
Just need an analogy relating to liking the effort or the guys playing hard...
January 7th, 2011 at 5:07 PM ^
or many pro fans in general really give a shit who their coach is? I mean yeah... I guess they do. But it still doesn't make it right.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:08 PM ^
Sorry. Had to put it here too. NSFWoH. Unless you're wearing headphones...

Amazing. A YouTube video that describes my innermost masculine feelings in under three minutes.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:08 PM ^
Is it true we can't even make an announcement until Wednesday? If so, why are we freaking out on not hearing anything?
(don't answer that second part. I already know the answer as to why we are freaking out)
January 7th, 2011 at 5:10 PM ^
The job opening has to be posted for a week, however there is a method to file for an exception. IIRC
January 7th, 2011 at 5:08 PM ^
Has anybody heard Hoke to M, announcement on Monday, or am I being punked?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:08 PM ^
Eff, Eff, Eff, Eff, Eff.
I have been mentally preparing myself for this news for five days, and still. eFFFFFFFFF.
New sign in my office: "I punch Niners fans on sight." Overreaction?
January 7th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
I developed a healthy hatred for the 49ers over this past season. As of today, I am officially rooting for that FUCKING franchise to crumble and fall into the FUCKING sea.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:09 PM ^
but are we allowed to be officially concerned about Dave Brandon's handling of this whole affair?
January 7th, 2011 at 5:10 PM ^
If you are first getting concerned now, than you are a more trusting and less excitable sort than me. I have been concerned since 1 minute after the OSU debacle.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
That's my thinking as well. I would have been fine if RR stayed or went but make the friggin' decision a month ago so that we have some form of coaching staff on January 7th, as opposed to being 2 days removed from firing one with most people's first choice replacement staying in SF.
It could work out but if it doesn't, a lot of people will point to Brandon's delay as being one of the reasons.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:46 PM ^
I was concerned when I realized RR was coming back for a third season. Season two showed me all I needed to know. I had been assuming since this year's Penn St. game that Brandon was working the back channels lining up his next coach..... boy was I wrong.
January 7th, 2011 at 5:11 PM ^
Yes, we are allowed. But hold all the fire and brimstone until this whole thing plays out. He may end up looking awesome.

times a lot.
I would also add that an ability to sound like you know what you're doing when talking in front of a microphone does not equal actually knowing what you're doing.
