Trevor Lawrence started the season as 3rd string.  It wasn't until he saw extended playing time that he played at a high level.

Good point, teams like Bama and Clemson would never be opened minded to a younger QB with more upside.

11/29/2018 - 11:20am The Football Championship…

The Football Championship game must be played on a Friday night or a weekend.  The NCAA should realize that most fans hate a Monday night championship game.  In basketball its understandable with the FInal Four, but football?  C'mon!  And I know the NFL has their playoffs that time of year......they should save a spot for their free "feeder system" championship on a weekend in early January.

11/24/2018 - 7:43pm Gentry can't hold on to the…

Gentry can't hold on to the TD, we settle for a field goal and OSU takes it right down the field for 6.  Did anyone else feel we were doomed right there?

Why wouldn't PSU try to avoid being shut out?  What team in America wouldn't? Agree that it's a "sad" touchdown drive, but we would've done the same thing.

I'm wondering if our aggressive, sometimes reckless style of D has conditioned refs to just throw flags against any winged helmet they see.  That and the Harbaugh zero-tolerance rule the league established in year one.

09/01/2018 - 11:55pm .I've wondered the past…

.I've wondered the past couple years  if coach was on meds, just didn't feel comfortable saying it. The vibe in year one was so different than in years two and three.  They say a team takes on the personality of its couch....  But right now the only difference I see from last year is that at least our QB's won't just hand the game over.

09/01/2018 - 11:55pm .I've wondered the past…

06/09/2018 - 11:33am He's talking about the self…

He's talking about the self destructive nature that Bourdain referred to numerous times on his show and in interviews.  Bourdain talked about turning to heroin in the 80's and how that has negatively shadowed his entire life. Is their a connection between that and depression?  I don't think anyone knows.  But we know about his self destructive nature and that suicide is the ultimate self-destructive act.

06/09/2018 - 11:19am Sad news.  I watch his shows…

Sad news.  I watch his shows often and occasionally my 18 year old son joins me.  He has mentioned several times in the past "It's not going to end well for him, Dad".  Wish he could've gotten the help he needed.

06/09/2018 - 11:10am Bourdain readily admitted…

Bourdain readily admitted countless times on his show that he didn't have it all together.

05/16/2018 - 5:47pm That if Shea Patterson

hadn't fallen into our laps, we'd be going into year 4 of Harbaugh with yet again big questions at quarterback. I only say this because I figured by now QB would be the least of our concerns.

02/01/2018 - 12:38pm I usually like

dark movies, but The Road was a little much for me too.  Maybe because my son at the time was  about the same age as the kid in the movie....

01/02/2018 - 1:08pm I say only the defense

gets the team trip to France this year.  in fact just scrap the whole damn thing....enlightening the players on topics besides football might be a bad idea.

12/05/2017 - 7:30pm The older I get the

less complicated my definition of success becomes. Have been following UofM football closely for over 40 years.  Win percentages, statistics and records mean far less to me today than they once did.  Now, its all about passing the eye test. Give me a Michigan team with very few flaws, a team thats tough in every way, fun to watch. Give me a team that my gut knows can go head to head with any team in the nation and I'll be happy to let the chips fall where they may.

11/30/2017 - 6:48pm Can't help but feel OSU

called off the "investigation" because they realized their "culprit" might turn out to be a big buckeye fan working for some Ohio town's newspaper.

11/26/2017 - 6:32pm Hard to believe that

Harbaugh didn't have at least some influence on Speights decision.  Peters gets the next month of practice getting starter reps and goes into spring the clear #1.  Just as important, Dylan M. gets #2 reps and any garbage time available.  Speight being here could've thrown question marks into all those things.  I appreciate all WIlton has done for the program, but its time to move on to the future.

11/24/2017 - 6:05pm Would love to reverse the trend...

but  playing PAC12 teams on the West coast has not been kind to the maize & blue.  Still have nightmares of the late 70's....3 straight Rose Bowl losses.  Charles White, Warren Moon.  As hope was dying late in the 4th quarter each time, my mom would yell  "Get to bed!  Christmas vacation is over and school starts up again tomorrow!"

10/04/2017 - 4:20pm Thank goodness

we got some game tape, because the announcement where he's shooting around by himself was eerily reminiscent of the Darko Milicic tape when drafted by the Pistons.

09/22/2017 - 5:01pm You could see this day coming

after getting swept by the Orioles in 2014.  The team was on a slow decline and you don't try to reverse that with band-aids.

09/03/2017 - 3:36pm Is it really a tradition

if they've only done it once?

09/03/2017 - 3:30pm The TD throw

to Black was a beauty???  Black had 15 yards on the guy but Speight threw it late and the defender almost caught up to the play.

08/16/2017 - 9:45pm They might have lost the big

They might have lost the big game both years, but nothing can erase the joy of those tourney runs.  Great memories.

08/05/2017 - 7:50pm I was disappointed

in the regular Chick-Fil-a sandwaich.  Then I tried the spicey deluxe with chick-fil-a sauce and it rocked my world.

07/29/2017 - 4:36pm "The journey is more important

than the destination."  We've got the perfect coach for our university, a guy who develops talent and uses his resources to his advantage. Its all I can ask for.  I'm going to enjoy this journey and if it doesn't lead to a title, then so be it.  Because of this staff, I'd remain a huge fan even if I knew a natty wouldn't be accomplished,

07/25/2017 - 6:06pm Is it just me, or does it seem every time we get info on ..

muliple player transfers/injuries from an upcoming opponent, we end up getting the crap kicked out of us.

07/16/2017 - 6:55pm You never know

A whole bunch of people on this board gave Harbaugh no chance of ever coming to Michigan after the Stanford comparison comments.

07/14/2017 - 5:07pm Surprised with all the Gus Johnson love here

His schtick annoys me to no end.

07/12/2017 - 9:09pm Sorry about that...

I fixed the year played

06/26/2017 - 7:03pm Another bad moment:

Watching my super skinny best friend get pinned in 7th grade gym class by a kid a foot shorter and even skinnier than him.....and then having to listen to his excuses for the next week.  Okay who am I kidding, that was pretty much an awesome moment.

06/26/2017 - 6:52pm My

most embarrassing moment:   JV baseball, I'm holding a guy on first base.  Our pitcher is taking forever to deliever his pitches.  My ADD kicks in, as it apparently also did with the base runner.  I refocus back on the pitcher just in time to see his pickoff throw plunk me in the chest.  I hear the baserunner yell "Oh shit" as he tries to get back to first.  I had time to quick pick up the ball and tag him out.  Makes me laugh all these years later.

06/25/2017 - 10:03pm Worst:  Getting benched in my

Worst:  Getting benched in my final high school baseball game.  I'd led our league in hitting the first half of season but went into a horrible slump the 2nd half. Last baseball game I ever played. Crushed it in slow pitch for many years after but.... a former baseball player really shouldn't brag about that.

Best:  Earlier that season my girlfriend and her parents showed up to a game, I went 3 for 4 with a homer, two stolen bases and a couple difficult catches in centerfield.

05/28/2017 - 9:41pm Okay I'll bite...

better times with sloped turns....this makes perfect sense!  But isn't it now apples and oranges when comparing times to flat tracks?  What am I missing?   Update:  I see now,  International vs NCAA

05/28/2017 - 8:09pm I've been telling my fellow

Tiger friends for 2 to 3 years now... 'Our core is past their prime, the window is closing, big men like Miggy usually don't age well. Wait for Verlander and Miggy to get on a hot streak and trade them for for all the young talent you an get.'  Well, too late for that now.  We're looking at some lean summers in Motown.

05/17/2017 - 1:37pm I'm a psychiatric RN

and have been doing this between 3 - 9 years now.  Love it, never the same day twice.

05/15/2017 - 9:26pm I've only watched a few Big 12 games

and of course conference chamionships and playoff games on Fox.  I agree with previous doesn't feel right.  Gus Johnson's schtick annoys me to no end.  The player intros with flexing and posturing.... Not looking forward to this but hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

04/04/2017 - 9:23am We think OSU

fans are dicks for hating on everything Harbaugh.  What does that make us for hating on everything Kelly, Dontonio, and Meyer?

03/28/2017 - 11:15am Fall of 1976

As a 9 year old I would help my Uncle rake leaves at a property he owned in Grand Rapids.  He'd have the Michigan games on the radio and I was introduced to some crazy announcer, honking a horn for TD's and shouting "Meeechigan".  I was hooked.  Over time I've become a fair-weather fan for all my other teams, even the Tigers.....but Michigan football has my heart until the day I pass.  Go Blue.

03/20/2017 - 10:04pm Too many payers we heavily depend on are well

over 30.  We missed the playoffs last year and now they're all a year older.  Older guys are more prone to injury. I see the downward trend continue, unfortunately.  Hope I'm very wrong BTW, especially for my 86 year old dad who watches them every night from his Lazy Boy.

02/09/2017 - 4:44pm I'd always felt

Costas was a very heady- high IQ kinda guy, deceptively quick with interjections. Was his father an announcer?  Was probably always hanging around the studio as a kid.

02/09/2017 - 4:21pm I'll miss him as the Olympic host...

but mostly for nostaglic reasons.  As a guy who turns 50 this summer, I've come to realize the Olympic summer games and it's 4 year cycle are one of the ways you start marking your life by..  On the other had, as a guy turning 50, I now notice things like Bob Costa's cosmetic attempts to defy aging.   It's a little disturbing yet I can't look away.

02/04/2017 - 5:58pm Good point

I can't say I blame the crowd for clearing out however.  After having a son play lax for many years I can vouch that the only thing that made it fun was my rooting interest in him.  Apparently a great sport to play but not much of a spectator sport.  Felt the same way trying to watch the USA water polo team, 15 minutes and I just couldn't take it anymore.

01/18/2017 - 7:49pm Once upon a time...

I was so passionate about all the Detroit teams along with UofM.  Now all thats standing is my love for Michigan football. Getting older sucks.

01/10/2017 - 7:12pm I saw some good signs

from Speight.  I liked how he showed emotion on the sideline after a tough series, appeared to be shouting in conversation to the press box.  At least it proves he's got some fire in him.

I do know this though....your pro style QB sure as hell better give you an accuracy advantage over your opponent's spread QB.  Very frustrating to see so many accurate deep balls thrown by spread QB's this year while our guy is five yards too long.  If Speight wins the job next year, he'll need to be much more consistant to hold on to that starting role.  Harbaugh won't want any doubts heading into 2018, when we should be primed to compete for a playoff spot.

01/06/2017 - 9:42pm I have to finally say it....

I fully realize Harbaugh and Saban know a million more things about high school prospects than myself, but ever since I saw my first highlight of Harris months ago, I can't figure out how his game projects as dominant at the highest D1 level.  I see a big back who relies more on elusiveness to outrun high school competition. He seems just a little faster than every one else, but not a blazer by any means.  What am I missing?

12/28/2016 - 7:19pm Any bowl win is glorious

Any bowl win is glorious because their is no next game.  It's the last time THIS team will ever go to war together.

10/25/2016 - 8:28pm It's terrible what

happened to this kid, but thousands of kids all across this nation we're bullied or worse today.  Kids are targeted for being black, white, fat, weird, skinny, special-needs, name it.  As a white kid who spent two years in a predominantly black high school i can promise you I knew nothing but intimidation or just plain being ignored.  The later of the two was a "good" day. You won't hear about this in the news though. This is not meant to belittle what this kid went through...its inexcusable and my heart goes out to him.  With that being said, I'd take my chances as a black kid in a white school as opposed to the opposite.

10/21/2016 - 5:09pm Probably a smart move.

Try to salvage the recruiting class while waiting for better options as a replacement in the next year or two.

10/11/2016 - 7:22pm I've become more of a

fair-weather fan, I'll admit sports especially.  Gave up on the Lions when Barry left, briefly got excited with their D-line during the Ndamukong Suh days.  Pistons and Red Wings only get my attention nowadays in championship calibr years.  I was a die-hard Tigers fan my whole life, but something about this team has turned me off, I don't see the grit and passion there anymore.

Michigan football is another story, yea I became apathetic during the lost decade, but have read Mgoblog everyday for at least 7 years now.  Harbaugh returning was a great hope and vision I had since Lloyd was still here. Its the only sport that I'll plan my weekend around, thats for sure. Go Blue!
