Cannot wait to read that! Speed is important but not as important as running routes and YAC = He will be a great one when his career is over as a Wolverine WR!
C'mon Devin, Go Blue!
December 8th, 2010 at 11:21 AM ^
Speed says: You can't teach me.
December 8th, 2010 at 7:27 AM ^
This kid looks like he's going to be special
December 8th, 2010 at 7:36 AM ^
Super impressive, Devin just runs away from everybody. Plus what year is the QB every pass is right on the money. He'd look good in the winged helmet too.
December 8th, 2010 at 8:09 AM ^
I have no idea how ESPN ranked him like the #161 receiver in the country. That's ridiculous.
Anyway, it seems like Lucien got faster from his junior season to his senior year. In his junior year highlights, he was running all kinds of "complicated" (for high school) routes and he was running them very precisely.
This year it looks like the coaches were just like, "Ummm...yeah, you're faster than everybody else now. Just go deep." And it looks like it worked.
December 8th, 2010 at 8:23 AM ^
Boy does he remind me of HAKEEM NICKS. Same body type. I hope Harbaugh likes him too. Here is to hoping Luck transfers here for 2013,2014 and Lucien is his main target.
December 8th, 2010 at 8:56 AM ^
Derp.
I didn't see a CC in the thread title.
December 8th, 2010 at 8:36 AM ^
I will buy his jersey.
December 8th, 2010 at 8:58 AM ^
Makes me want him more
December 8th, 2010 at 10:33 AM ^
If you're reading this Devin, getting praise from Magnus is on par with Obama getting praise from Palin. It just doesn't happen.
And as much of a porcupine as Magnus can be, history would suggest he know his football better than anyone else on this site...
The ESPN ranking is ridiclously offbase. This kid can ball, just an absolute natural in the air. And the hands...you can't teach soft hands.
December 8th, 2010 at 8:47 AM ^
Sammy Who?
December 8th, 2010 at 8:55 AM ^
We're the people, Devin's the dead guy, and Tom's Jennifer Love Hewitt
December 8th, 2010 at 8:56 AM ^
Looks like hemingway. Jump ball corner route in the endzone all day.
December 8th, 2010 at 9:02 AM ^
After watching the junior film I was impressed. Now I'm just watching with my jaw on the floor. The catch at 2:35 is just sick, even if it did get called OB.
December 8th, 2010 at 9:19 AM ^
I'm not going to lie, that is one of the most impressive highlight films that I have ever seen. Come on out to AA Devin, we would all love to see you in the Maize and Blue.
December 8th, 2010 at 9:32 AM ^
December 8th, 2010 at 9:35 AM ^
Speed, Hands, Quickness and Agility. He has got everything. He'd look great in a Michigan uniform. Suddenly the loss of Watkins to Clemson doesn't seem have the sting it once did.
December 8th, 2010 at 9:51 AM ^
Don't forget the amazing stiff arm.
December 8th, 2010 at 9:55 AM ^
I noticed at the 6:00 mark and 6:34 mark that the teams were playing specifically for him as if they knew it was coming. I really liked at the 6:34 mark where they stacked his side, he caught it at the 4 yard line with 3-4 guys in front of him and he still scored. So many of the clips show his hands, speed, etc but this one was pure determination.
December 8th, 2010 at 9:57 AM ^
he has a nice long stride when he runs, he covers a lot of ground even though it may not look like he is burning people. i also like that the first two touchdowns were him being physical, throwing a stiff arm and going the distance. GO BLUE DEVIN!!!
December 8th, 2010 at 10:03 AM ^
all of you are praising his speed which makes it sound great - though his ESPN writeup says he:
He has adequate-to-good top end speed, but he builds to it. Lacks a second gear as a vertical guy and after the catch.
They do praise his route running though - which I think is kind of a big deal in the Spread. So that works for me. As we've seen with some of our guys this year, catching is more of an issue than running - so I'll gladly welcome a player who can catch as well.
He has very good hands and focus to catch the football cleanly and get upfield. He has the size and ability to extend above his head to make plays on the jump ball and also develop as a redzone target.
December 8th, 2010 at 10:42 AM ^
I was not sold on his speed prior to this, either. However, I mentioned in an above post that he seems to have improved his speed from his junior to his senior seasons. Whether he worked out or just developed more physically, I don't think his speed is a big question mark. And he was an excellent route runner even as a junior, so I like his potential.
I would not be surprised if that ESPN scouting report is from his junior season/junior film, and I think he's improved since then.
December 8th, 2010 at 10:07 AM ^
Looks like he is already used to beating ND. Go Blue!!
December 8th, 2010 at 10:11 AM ^
kid is impressive...and fwiw, who is his qb? kid throws darts...
December 8th, 2010 at 10:12 AM ^
from what i saw in those highlights, that espn review is bogus...seemed to me the kid took off as soon as he caught the ball with fantastic burst....
December 8th, 2010 at 10:27 AM ^
seems like one of those players that are automatic with the deep ball.
December 8th, 2010 at 10:49 AM ^
Clearly Bosch, you have not watched the highlight films. The leap this kid made from a very good receiver junior year to a great receiver senior year is astounding. I gaurantee a rerank on him from ESPN. Quite frankly, I'd be surprised if he didn't jump up big time in all
He reminds me of Miles Austin in training...
December 8th, 2010 at 11:25 AM ^
was not a knock on Lucien. He'd be a welcome addition to our recruiting class if that's the direction he chooses to take. The comment was intended to be a sarcastic dig at the over the top man love being offered up in this thread. Read through the responses and tell me that it's not just a tad bit embarassing.
However, I deleted the comment because I knew it would go over the heads of some of our members......
December 8th, 2010 at 10:30 AM ^
I can see it now, a future play:
Denard throws a quick side pass to Devin Gardner . . . who throws to a streaking Devin Lucien for a big gain! We will call it D3 in A2.
December 8th, 2010 at 10:42 AM ^
.......TripleDoom. (to the opposition, of course)
December 8th, 2010 at 10:49 AM ^
Or when Denard is gone, its Devin to Dee to Devin. Just like you said but with Dee being in.

December 8th, 2010 at 11:01 AM ^
Please come to Michigan.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:30 AM ^
the way he catches the ball away from his body. He has great hands and doesn't let the ball get into his pads. He made a couple tough catches in traffic where he had to reach out between defenders for the catch...great hands.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:34 AM ^
Instead of gushing over your highlights, I'm going to do you a real favor. When you are up here on your official, make sure your host takes you to Mr. Spots. Order the Spot Wings with a side of cheese fries. I recommend going for the suicide sauce on the wings. It'll burn so bad that it'll make the muscles in your face twitch, but you'll want to come back for more.
You're welcome.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:36 AM ^
To me, the most impressive thing in this video is how he looks for his teammates to celebrate with after scoring a TD.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:40 AM ^
Wow that is an impressive video. If we can get him I would completely forget about Watkins. It seemed like he scored 50 touchdowns this year and he has amazing hands. I dont think I saw a time when he let the ball get to his body. He just always seemed to pick it out of the air effortlessly and the ball never moved. The ball seemed to want to be in his hands. I always like a player that uses a stiff arm too
December 8th, 2010 at 11:43 AM ^
Kid looks pretty solid. Nice speed and burst. I like his hand location when catching the ball as well as his body control and positioning. Stiff arm is nice too. Needs to work on ball security (high and tight baby!) but that's easy to fix. Would be very nice addition. Go Blue Devin!
December 8th, 2010 at 12:01 PM ^
That was a touchdown on that play. Must have been Big East refs at that game. I found my self watching that play a few times. Than I figured out why. Devin is a MUTANT. He has some football control power. A normal human would not have caught that ball.
December 9th, 2010 at 7:29 AM ^
His butt hit out of bounds before he crossed the plane. If the tubby zebra could have gotten his ass down there faster he would have seen it better!!
December 8th, 2010 at 12:22 PM ^
This is an impressive highlight film! I love the way he catches the ball with his hands and high points the ball. He is explosive off the line of scrimmage and looks like he is a threat to go the distance every time he catches the ball.
Previous posts have mentioned that maybe he is not highly rated b/c of his 40 time, but a 4.49 forty is not slow, Rivals top receiver Farmer runs a 4.4 and Sammy Watkins runs a 4.5. Am I missing something?
I would love to see him in blue!
December 8th, 2010 at 12:18 PM ^
see ya in Ann Arbor, kid! Future star.
December 8th, 2010 at 12:32 PM ^
Come to Michigan! Play in the Big House in front of 111,000 fans, walk the same halls that Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson, Tom Brady walked (and Denard now walks!) and, more importantly, get a first-class degree that will open doors for you that lesser degrees could not.
December 8th, 2010 at 12:42 PM ^
I love how after he scores he turns around and seems to wait forever for his teammates to catch up. Speed baby, speed.
December 8th, 2010 at 1:00 PM ^
Yes please.
December 8th, 2010 at 1:16 PM ^
Come on down, Devin. Need that playmaking ability on the outside.
December 8th, 2010 at 2:24 PM ^
Very much improved from his junior year, looks like he could impact as soon as Stonum and co. leave. Does anyone know the level of competition? He looks like he is a far superior athlete than everyone he was playing against.
December 8th, 2010 at 3:27 PM ^
Crespi is a Division III school. The only level below it, AFAIK, is the Small Schools Division. So his level of competition probably isn't great.
