Who is traveling watch M in the Gator Bowl?
Woo! I started a thread last week regarding traveling to the Insight Bowl, but I'm glad that we're not going there. The Gator Bowl works out a lot better considering my family gatherings around Christmas and the fact that it is less expensive to fly to Jacksonville than Arizona. Who's planning on going?

I am pretty sure UM and MSU will be there

My heart stopped for a moment thinking it was a recruiting issue then I realized Tom is in Arizona. Ahhh breathe deep.
December 5th, 2010 at 7:32 PM ^
Delta doesn't take Mgopoints? I know Tom has quite a stash built up.
December 5th, 2010 at 8:23 PM ^
I wish.
December 6th, 2010 at 1:22 PM ^
Even though Arizona would have been closer for me, I don't mind Jacksonville all that much. The flight will end up costing me the same anyways. I would have been happy as long as it was in a city that Jet Blue flew to.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:01 PM ^
Like this couldn't fit in one of the other three!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! threads? What a loser. How is dorm life going? Wow, just wow. How the standards have fallen.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:05 PM ^
Sorry for my original thread title... it was unclear
December 5th, 2010 at 7:37 PM ^
You are a dick.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:01 PM ^
for a second i thought you were asking which teams...
dammit i had my neg ready
+1 for a new years day bowl however
December 5th, 2010 at 6:01 PM ^
As announcerd
December 5th, 2010 at 6:02 PM ^
I think the OP is talking about who is going personally...not which teams.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:06 PM ^
I'm not sure why this was so hard to figure out.
Man, people are quick on the trigger finger these days. Pick a coach already, for the sanity and safety of us all!
December 5th, 2010 at 6:02 PM ^
Being from FL, I will be very happy if we are in fact in the Gator Bowl. I also purchased tickets earlier in the week, so this would work out great.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:58 PM ^
and I am so excited to have the bowl in FL!!! I just bought 5 lower bowl seats for the whole family. I would've preferred to have matched up with Florida or Tenn, but I am just thankful it is here in FL. GO BLUE!!!
December 5th, 2010 at 6:07 PM ^
I am already going to Jacksonville to spend the winter break between classes with my uncle and brother. Now I'm dragging them out to watch the Maize and Blue on the first day of 2011
December 5th, 2010 at 6:08 PM ^
Not a bad drive from Atlanta, so I'll be going. See you all in Jacksonville.
December 5th, 2010 at 7:29 PM ^
I am in Augusta, so the 4 hour drive will be nothing compared to the long drive I took to watch them play that other MSU team. Do you think its better to buy tickets through ticketmaster or just buy them when they go on sale at 8:30am tomorrow?
December 5th, 2010 at 6:08 PM ^
I'll be there.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:12 PM ^
Speaking of which, does anyone with prior bowl experience know the best way to get tickets? I'm a junior and my family didn't take me to any earlier ones so this is my first.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:22 PM ^
mgoblue.com is selling tickets as of tomorrow morning. thats how i'm getting them.
im coming from portland, or so its going to be quite a flight. but i have never been to a bowl game and after the past two years i don't want to miss anymore opportunities.
you never know when they will go again, although i think the future is bright and the worst is behind us!
December 5th, 2010 at 6:37 PM ^
You can probably purchase them through the school. Most bowl games distribute a certain number of tickets to each school participating to sell themselves.
Either that or you can nab them through the Bowl website.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:51 PM ^
You from around there, and just looking for tickets? You going on a trip down there? You can buy tix directly from the bowl, or get them scalped cheaper, if you're around there. Or get them from the Alumni Association/Athletic Department at full price but be sure and sitting with other Michigan people, and help them get their allotment out. Bowl game tix are not generally that hard to find.
There's also an Alumni Association Tour http://www.michigansportstours.com/ That will take care of travel to the city, to and from hotel and Stadium and usually has some perks, with some addition tours and events you can sign up for (for more $$$). But it's usually a little more pricey than if you were to Travelocity it or something. Depends on how much you want to do on your own, and how much you want to do. But tickets shouldn't be a problem. Bowl games rarely sell out, unless it's a fabulous match-up, or a National Championship type game.

Since my family lives in New York and I already booked my flight home for break (12/22-1/3, DTW to LGA), me and my dad have to work around that. I'm thinking I'll just wake up early and buy from mgoblue and deal with plane tickets/hotel/rental car when I talk to my dad again tonight since he hasn't gotten home yet.

I went to the Rose Bowl a few years ago. One of my friends bought our group tickets through the AD. Since we were students we got the lowest priority seats in the upper part of the bowl in the end zone. We also bought tickets to the alumni association tail gate (ended up not going since there was not a shuttle from rose parade to the Rose Bowl and we walked the entire F'ing route...).
Tavelocity is your best friend for hotels.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:18 PM ^
I'll be driving down from Atlanta. Go Blue!
December 5th, 2010 at 6:25 PM ^
likely to cost?
December 5th, 2010 at 6:26 PM ^
I'm very seriously considering it, but I haven't decided yet.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:27 PM ^
My girlfriend to go, then I'm going with her.
If I can't convince her to go, then I'm going by myself!
Jacksonville Or Bust!
December 5th, 2010 at 8:12 PM ^
I don't think you'll have to worry about being by yourself...
December 5th, 2010 at 6:33 PM ^
Kind of bummed they aren't coming out here. But I was just looking at tickets for the Gator Bowl. Pretty decent prices if you ask me. Even for the VIP seating.
Flight cost from Phx to Jville is the problem!
Wish I had my own G6.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:35 PM ^
Going to make the drive down from Atlanta.
December 5th, 2010 at 8:00 PM ^
We should all rent a dang bus with the responses I have seen so far.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:35 PM ^
My first Gator Bowl was New Year's Day in 1991. It was Michigan 35-Ole Miss 3. I'm hoping for the same result.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:41 PM ^
As luck would have it, I will be in Daytona Beach for a week from 25th December to the 1st, but I am flying out just as the game's about to kickoff. I would desperately like to stick around and go to the game. However, change fees and itinerary changes in JetBlue mean an additional 300 bucks is added to the ticket. Plus, the cost of the actual game tickets and I am looking at an additional 500$ out of pocket, which is a bit much. Is there anyway I can cut the change fees on JetBlue? Anybody have experience with this sort of things? Anybody here work for JetBlue and help out a fellow fan? :)
December 6th, 2010 at 12:28 PM ^
The founder of JetBlue is a Michigan alum, that's why it's called JetBlue. See if you can get him on the phone, maybe he can help.
December 8th, 2010 at 1:15 AM ^
The founder of Jetblue is not from Michigan but his side kick is. The side kick is now the CEO and while he is an alum, I've not found him to be much of a football fan. The name has nothing to do with M. I can tell you that when JB was flying to Columbus, some of the pilots were known to play Hail to the Victors while in the area if not over the airport PA system : )
December 8th, 2010 at 1:11 AM ^
Send me an email and I will ask. Can't promise anything but I will at least ask around...
Where are you headed out of Jax?
December 5th, 2010 at 6:53 PM ^
What hotel the team will be staying in, a post would be appreciated.
(Not sure if I'm going...but if I go, it's with Dos Equis).
December 5th, 2010 at 7:02 PM ^
They have a team meeting at 8:00 and will probably find out then.
December 6th, 2010 at 7:01 PM ^
FWIW, I know someone on the team and he just told me they're staying at the Omni hotel in Jacksonville.
December 5th, 2010 at 6:56 PM ^
I'm going! I wasn't going to go to the insight bowl, but going to florida is much more doable. I can't wait!
December 5th, 2010 at 7:01 PM ^
I'm going to the Gator bowl (obvious reasons) and the Military Bowl to watch my friend who plays for Maryland.
