Don't think I like it, but there it is.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
Starting our 2011 national championship defense off with a blockbuster.
Home and home would be much cooler, but this will still be a massive prime-time game, huge exposure for recruiting (as much as we don't like to think we've taken a hit these last two years), and it'll just be a damn good time invading Texas with the rest of our fans.
October 14th, 2010 at 5:18 PM ^
would much rather play them in the big house and then at their place... but a game in texas is better than nothing i suppose!

road trip!!!! I have always wanted to go to Dallas.
October 14th, 2010 at 5:20 PM ^
Uh, why?
October 14th, 2010 at 5:23 PM ^
Actually, I really enjoyed the city of Dallas when I was there. I've been looking for an excuse to go back, and now I have one.
On my recommendation list:
-Dallas World Aquarium
-Sixth Floor Museum
October 14th, 2010 at 5:27 PM ^
exactly. I have never been to Dallas. It sounds fun. Maybe I could really make a road trip of it by going south to Austin and then loop over to New Orleans and back north through Mississippi to Memphis and then back home.
October 14th, 2010 at 5:47 PM ^
The only time I've been to Texas was when I was flying to New Mexico, and I was in an airport for two hours.

the Dallas-Ft.Worth metro area has some of the best looking strippers in the US
October 14th, 2010 at 7:13 PM ^
he is def not lying... i cannot wait denard as a senior running around with dee hart yikes our offense will be scary good

Deep In The Heart Of Texas!!!
Hail, Hail ...
October 14th, 2010 at 5:24 PM ^
1). Congrats to Brian for having this back in August.
2). at Dallas against Bama, at Notre Dame, at Nebraska, at the Horseshoe. Wow. And only six home games for the first time in forever.
Looks like it'll be two MAC-rifices to fill out the schedule, or one and a FCS team. Maybe we can get Southern or Grambling or Florida A&M, provided they bring the band. If we're going to play FCS teams, make them have awesome bands. UMass did very well this year, Delaware State last year. That should be the rule.
October 14th, 2010 at 7:22 PM ^
1. A lot of media sources who said "not so fast" owe Brian an apology. Or a future STFU.

2. We better get the defense better fast for next year. Because that title run everyone is planning in 2012 isn't going to happen with that schedule. It may be the toughest of all time, if you account for home and road variance.
October 14th, 2010 at 5:24 PM ^
2012 Schedule:
Neutral vs. Bama
At ND
At Nebraska
At OSU.
That's quite the load.
October 14th, 2010 at 5:27 PM ^
Even assuming we are much better across the board that season, a very good team could still have a tough year with that schedule. Hopefully we are ready for it and hopefully we didn't overreach.
October 14th, 2010 at 6:07 PM ^
Yeah. But the thing to remember is it is hard telling where anyone will be that year. Penn State looked dominant 2 years ago. Same with USC.
We'll be a veteran experienced team and that will probably look a lot different then it does this year.
October 14th, 2010 at 10:44 PM ^
I'd play at Dallas with a senior Denard in 2012 over 2013 or later with the next great (but relatively inexperienced) QB. This offsets the tough schedule that year.
October 14th, 2010 at 5:25 PM ^
Glad to see UM scheduling a good out of conf tilt. I miss the days of seeing FSU, UCLA, Virginia, etc. Just hope we get some good ones at the Big House
October 14th, 2010 at 5:28 PM ^
Except for the football stadiums
October 14th, 2010 at 5:29 PM ^
I'm excited about adding Bama to the schedule, but 2012 is shaping up to be a BRUTAL schedule:
Sept. 1 | vs. Alabama (Arlington, Texas) |
Sept. 22 | at Notre Dame |
Oct. 6 | at Purdue |
Oct. 13 | Illinois |
Oct. 20 | Michigan State |
Oct. 27 | at Nebraska |
Nov. 3 | at Minnesota |
Nov. 10 | Northwestern |
Nov. 17 | Iowa |
Nov. 24 | at Ohio State |
Hope Michigan can figure out how to play Defense by 2012 or it will be a painful season.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:16 PM ^
if ND will disappear from our schedule in 2012 and 2013.

...Championship Game and that'll be one hell of a strength of schedule figure. I vote for Buffalo and Louisiana-Monroe to round things out.
October 14th, 2010 at 5:35 PM ^
Please - no 1-AA schools. We don't need that level of letdown after the team is jacked to play Bama (on national tv) then come home to a similar team as UMASS was this year.
Could be disaster...
October 14th, 2010 at 5:39 PM ^
The way you phrased your post, it sounds as though you think one of Buffalo or Louisiana-Monroe is I-AA, which neither is (MAC and Sun Belt, respectively). I agree with your sentiment though. Please no I-AA schools.
October 14th, 2010 at 5:46 PM ^
I knew Buffalo was MAC, but had no clue on Louisiana-Monroe. Was more of a general comment though that I really hope we no longer schedule any 1-AA teams. Nothing to gain by it, and everything to lose...

See Va Tech of this 2010 variety

MAC and garbage aq team like duke, vandy, wash st, or kentucky
October 14th, 2010 at 5:53 PM ^
Talking solely from a selfish perspective, I love the idea that it's a 20 minute drive to see Michigan. Brian, feel free to stay with me if you need a place to crash.
October 14th, 2010 at 6:29 PM ^
After the 2011 schedule. 8 home games including Nebraska and OSU at home. I predict we come into the Alabama game as the more fearsome team although Alabama's D should be nice. Remember they will not have Ingram, Jones, Richardson, McElroy or even Marquis Maze (he would have look nice as a slot ninja for Rich Rod)
October 14th, 2010 at 8:29 PM ^
Saban may medical red-shirt all those players until 2012 !!!
Go Blue !

It'd be fun if he decided to leave in a huff after the NCAA decided to close the oversigning loophole.
October 14th, 2010 at 6:56 PM ^
is brutal but I loves me some good, old-school, traditional power clashes. I'm assuming ticket allotment will be equal to both schools since it's on a "neutral" field but it's basically going to be a 'Bama home game. Load up the cars boys, we be road trippin'.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:19 PM ^
I was there and it was 10% Michigan fans, 90% Alabama fans. Felt REAL good to shut those bitches up. Let's do that again.
October 14th, 2010 at 9:51 PM ^
It was 10% Michigan fans, 50% Alabama fans and 40% empty seats.
October 15th, 2010 at 12:07 AM ^
Yes, but what was great was being able to take a leak and get a couple of beers during the TV timeouts. You couldn't go ten feet without running into a bathroom or a beer stand. Best Michigan bowl game ever...

You can't book flights this far in advance! Curse you, airlines!

watching Denard and Dee Hart tear it up

Is this the toughest schedule in the nation? Naaaaaaaaaaah
October 14th, 2010 at 11:26 PM ^
Thanks to Brian's heads up in August. I have been angling on getting tickets for that game already. Already booked a business meeting in Dallas for that Friday. Only have 22.5 months to go.....

Saint Arnold Beer - Fancy Lawnmower (don't laught. Terrible name, very good Kolsch)
Also their Elissa IPA and Oktoberfest were very good.
They were the best of what Texas had to offer at the Great American Beer Festival.
EDIT: Actually a Houston brewery.

How do you think tickets for this game will work? Will season ticket holders get first priority over the general public? I wonder what these tickets will be going for on stubhub. Im definately going no matter what
