Idiot Michigan Fans Hating Tate

Submitted by UMAmaizinBlue on

I've been sitting in the student section for the past 5 years now, and I've seen many idiotic things done by my fellow students, and I've heard some pretty moronic things as well, but today I was surrounded by the epitome of asinine (Sec. 30, ~Row 23, you know who you are).

For some reason, many of my fellow "Wolverines" felt it was a good idea and maybe even funny to mock and put down our own Tate Forcier, before the game was even underway. Here are a few examples:

  • "F#%& Tate" (in chant form)
  • "Transfer, already!"
  • "Hey, Tate, did you bring your own wings today?"

These continued well into the game, even when Tate drove the length of the field for a TD. Needless to say, it pissed me off to no end, and I was very happy when they left near the end of the 3rd quarter.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't be an ass, even if you don't like a particular player. They still play for the Maize and Blue, they're still young (most of them), and they're playing their hearts out to win for YOU! I hope Tate's great play, modesty and positive attitude showed these cretins the error of their ways.

[The soapbox is now open for use.]

I had a similar guy bitching about not kicking the FG late in the game when Devin ran it in.  I tried to explain that kicking the FG from there was basically a PAT, and we'd kicked all of them successfully already; plus, kicking the FG is essentially an F-YOU pile-on, whereas going for it gives the defense an honest chance to stop the offense and show that they're still playing hard.  Kicking a FG doesn't give the D a chance to do anything, other than block the kick, but that's quite rare.

Anyway, the guy didn't want to have any of it.

That is the most screwed position I have ever heard.  Tate is Michigan.  The students that said that should be held accountable.  So did you take action or just post to fire real fans up!

I truely know what I would have done.  Go Blue or go home.

Was to cheer Tate really loud after he made a play (which was a lot since he was 12 for 12 and had a couple of good runs). These particular "fans" were "Fratty Patties" and I didn't feel like arguing with a drunk popped collar. They quickly STFU after Tate's 4th completion or so, and left shortly thereafter.

just wait, later this year when Tate comes in to win a game for injured DR and everyine loves him again they will shut the hole if their face. Tate was hurt last year and DR wasn't ready. We would have won more games last year if DR was as Tate is this year to come in and win off the bench.

Yeah some "M" fans are pretty shitty fans. When I was buying a ticket some woman wanted 40 bucks because in her words "This is the last chance you're gonna have to see Michigan win the entire year".

I was in section 30 row 36ish today and there was a kid 2 spots down from me that started booing when Tate came in.  My favorite part was when he started yelling about how he hoped Tate threw an interception.  Really?  Even if you hate Tate, you put your hatred of him over your Michigan fandom?

So my friends and I just started cheering loudly any time Tate would do something well (in otherwords, often).  We'd also start saying things loudly like "WOW, what a nice play by Tate" and stuff like that.  I told my friend that I figured that Tate must have stolen the guy's girlfriend, because otherwise why would you hate him like that?  Really?

He left the game really early, I think.

Fuck them. That pisses me off because I'd give  my right arm to not only attend a game right now, but to attend the best damn school in the world. Definitely not good ambassadors to the university.

at Michigan many years ago who had some growing up to do. Mediocre walk-on who put his fist through a window in a bar and got kicked off the team. Good riddance, right? Can't believe they let him back on the team.

<br>But I suppose that in the end, Brian Griese turned out all right after all.

Rich rod has said that tate needed to mature and learn how to take care of business.  He appears to have done so.  I hope that the (equally young and immature) students will do the same,

I was in your section a bit closer to the field than you (row 11) and my fellow students were cheering loudly for Tater when came in. I apologize for the drunk idiots around you.

I would not trade our signal callers with any school, it is a position of strength and all three will be important to our program in the next three years." Those who stay will be champions."

did anyone else notice that tate apparently has a new helmet style this year? last year i remember his being very wide looking and this year it made his head look 50% smaller

I was glad to see Tate get in. I sit in section 18 and everyone around me was happy to see Tate get a chance to play. It was great to see all three QB's do a solid job. Nice to see that the offense can still operate at a high level if Denard ever gets seriously injured (which I REALLY hope doesn't happen).

There were never enough students to fill the whole section to the top. Could have had rows to yourself and been out of earshot. Though it's too bad the ones around you didn't follow suit and just not show and keep their drunken asses at home in bed.

I agree OP, those people are asses.

Pulling that type of thing is dumb no matter what.....  but what makes it even more ridiculous is Tate completed *EVERY* single one of his passes!!  It was an excellent performance by him.  What more do they want?

There's 110,000 people in that stadium, theres bound to be a few douchebags in there. I remember against Oregon in 2007 the student section calling for Ryan Mallet and to bench Henne.

they'd be picking up their teeth with broken hands.

Why didn't you just punch their faces in?  I bet a slew of people would have joined in to help  you.

And leaving the game in the 3rd quarter? Christ, I'd give my left nut to attend a Michigan football game live from start to finish. Once in my seat, you couldn't blast me out of that place until the end of the game.

You haven't met an idiot yet until you talk to the guy behind me today.

First off he didn't know where Bowling Green was.

Second, when Tate went in and mostly everyone else gave him an ovation, he said something like "well he'll probably throw four interceptions".

Third, he said that Gardner was too slow and wouldn't work in this offense.

Then after Gardner did pretty damn good and Tate came in he was mad about that. Then after Tate rips BG apart, he still didn't ackowledge the great performance and was pissed that we didn't get to 70 and said "great playcall Rich" when someone ran out of bounds with under 3 minutes. I was so ready to punch this guy all game.

This is "Cool Story, Bro" all the way. I'm sure you didn't say anything to them either. Instead of saying something you had to run to the computer and tell everyone on MGoBlog what happened when Tate came in. Grow a pair.
