unless Shaw was injured yesterday and I didn't know about it.
September 12th, 2010 at 10:11 PM ^
... left the game during the last drive, his head went pretty hard into the gound. No real time for us fans to elvaluate during the game because 2 plays later we scored, and then 30 seconds the game ended.

he was just knocked loopy on his last catch. he was interviewed on the field, just some blood on his lip.

Fitz was questionable for the past two weeks, which leads me to believe is more of a nagging injury then something serious. I believe it's a lower body injury, I'm sure one of our MgoBloggers has some more info on it.

Shaw seems fine but I would like to see Fitz and Hemmingway get healthy soon.

God bless the next two weeks (knock on wood).

....and keep the faith.
Go Blue!

Could he potentially get a carry or two as a TB? After all, we could use some speed back there with Denard. Hope Fitz can get healty and show us something too.
September 12th, 2010 at 9:08 PM ^
Gallon and Grady have both been mentioned as slot receivers who could see some snaps at RB.
September 12th, 2010 at 9:09 PM ^
Id like to see Gallon as a slot, instead of just on punt returns..
He has some crazy speed, but maybe he has ball security issues in practice..
September 12th, 2010 at 9:46 PM ^
then I don't think they would have him back there fielding punts particularly with last year's fiasco.
With Roundtree, Grady, and T-Rob in the slot and TEs stepping up their play so far, Gallon is kind of the odd man out. He just has to bide his time. It's a long season, injuries can happen, so I'm sure we will see him out there at some point.

Yeah, because Vincent Smith is soooo slow.
Maybe what we need is to not put in a speed-back to run between the tackles. Was anyone else curious as to why we kept sending V Smith up the middle? I thought it was bizarre the first time I saw it. By the third time I saw it, I was yelling Stephen Hopkins' name at the TV.
September 13th, 2010 at 12:35 AM ^
Smith is not a speed back. (Don't assume that just because a RB is small, he's automatically a burner.) He gets yards with his quick feet and cutting ability, but not so much his speed.
We need to do some running between the tackles. It's an important part of the offense. That helps to open up the outside game and vice-versa. Our big problem was just that ND's defensive tackles are tough. They gave our interior linemen all they could handle.

Can you name a play where Vincent Smith has looked fast?
September 12th, 2010 at 9:11 PM ^
Man, his holding calls were frusterating though. Hopefully RR works on that this week. I brought up this topic because I think Gallon should get on the field more with his speed. I anticipate that the next week or two will provide a heated competition for carries.
September 12th, 2010 at 9:27 PM ^
...He really got hit hard. Wish UM would hit like that instead of giving bear hugs.
September 12th, 2010 at 9:50 PM ^
Man what is up with all the negativity coming from your posts lately? Did RR shit in your cereal at some point.
September 12th, 2010 at 9:56 PM ^
Ever consider that these "bear hugs" may be the reason we're not seeing opponents run through 3-4 tackles every carry?
September 12th, 2010 at 10:25 PM ^
To be fair, Mouton had several good hits and Gordon had a few decent ones.
September 12th, 2010 at 10:20 PM ^
boys are busting their asses off, and you say bear hugs. Come on now, sure still have practice tackling. But its there, they have swagger and play with pride. Even giving up a big play, the next one wanted to do their assigment. Help the team win! U of M is 2-0 and ranked, all this with a young depleted D. Hoka Hey!
September 12th, 2010 at 11:35 PM ^
I think Shaw's probably fine -- he just had his bell rung.
I'm hoping to see Toussaint this week. Maybe? Pretty please?
September 13th, 2010 at 12:10 AM ^
Wondering why the other backs aren't getting the carries. Probably a stupid question as I havent gotten to watch the game in total (had to work to... uh, keep my job) but I wonder why Hopkins and Cox didn't see more playing time.
September 13th, 2010 at 2:06 AM ^
I've been wondering the same thing about cox..... seems like he was getting talked up an awful lot in the fall to not see the field in these first two games.
September 13th, 2010 at 1:06 AM ^
After the slide where he was eventually ruled out of bounds, Shaw was tripped up by a linebacker and popped in the face with the helmet of a fat DT (probably Williams). When he took his helmet off, his lip was bleeding. Probably a little dizzy afterward; likely 100% tomorrow.
