DetNews: JT Turner Transferring to WVU
Didn't see this on the board.
DetNews reporting, per ESPN Radio in Massillon, Ohio, that Turner is transferring to West Virginia.
Wow that's a dong punch.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:29 PM ^
Wow. It CAN get worse.

Some more discussion about this can be found in this thread - http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/rumor-turner-enrolling-wvu-mon

I searched for Turner + Transfer and got nothing other than he'd asked for his transfer papers, which was old news.
My apologies.

confirmation and a new link warrents a new thread. However, I am glad you posted that one b/c it was interesting as well. thanks.

Actually, I don't think WVU really matters to anyone in the BigTen, does it? He could have gone to MANY worse places than this.

I agree, lets take the richrod approach and only talk about people who play for michigan or will play against michigan this season.

I'm sure no one would have mentioned Dee Hart anyway.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:33 PM ^
Ok, he can be fat and lazy in West Virginia, no wonder he thinks he'll fit in...nice choice.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
I hear your frustration, but really, you can't know what is going on with him unless you wear his shoes. We've all gone over this ad nauseum, but it really makes sense to avoid focus on the guys who choose not to play for Michigan. I don't necessarily wish another WVU well or any other school other than Michigan, but why bother dwelling on him negatively.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
I don't take it so seriously, so spare me the moral high ground. I'm willing to bet he's not wishing us any good....
August 19th, 2010 at 9:01 PM ^
One small correction, he didn't choose anybody over us per se, we chose not to play him b/c he wasn't what we expected... a bit of a bust, but I guess we'll see.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:35 PM ^
Oh, the irony...
August 19th, 2010 at 8:35 PM ^
I'm sure JT and those WVU upperclassmen will have a fun time trashing RR. But to each his own. Hope he decides to take responsibility and work hard to make himself better.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:36 PM ^
RR gave him 5 schools he could go to. WVU was one of them, not a big deal.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:39 PM ^
Where did you hear about the 5 schools, and do you know what the other 4 were?
August 19th, 2010 at 8:58 PM ^
i had heard it was WVU, Cinnci, Syracuse, and I can't remember the other two...i'll try to find it.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:04 PM ^
Cinn, Boston College, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse is what i heard. All teams that we won't be playing while he is still in school.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:40 PM ^
Not a big deal - I really don't care where he's going. If it had been to Columbus, that would have been different.
August 19th, 2010 at 10:40 PM ^
Would it have made a difference had he gone to tOSU? The kid wasn't willing to put in the work here. Much as I detest all things Scarlet and Gray, I really don't think seniors (or juniors or ...) on the Buckeyes would much appreciate his attitude, either. That Team Down South may be a lot of things, but slackers they aren't.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:52 PM ^
why would he have only been allowed to transfer to 1 of 5 teams?
August 19th, 2010 at 9:01 PM ^
but the release put limitations on it.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:10 PM ^
the restrictions are normally only against teams UM plays for the rest of the player's eligibility. Restricting it to 5 teams only is pretty odd
August 19th, 2010 at 9:44 PM ^
right, what if he wanted to go to fresno st or hawaii or some other school like that? or maybe a ohio mac school, toledo, bowling green, or ohio?
August 19th, 2010 at 10:32 PM ^
on Boren.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:36 PM ^
I only talk about Michigan players
August 19th, 2010 at 8:39 PM ^
mgoblog followers broke this story
August 19th, 2010 at 10:08 PM ^
We (the collective "we") broke (no pun intended) the Woolfolk story too, though that one was considerably less palatable.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:46 PM ^
the guy, but he's a teenager and I wish him well. That said, if you're a WVU fan you can't exactly exult over this, can you? That a kid showed up out of shape and now he's being fobbed off on your team? It'll arouse more grumbling than glee.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
So...
Turner and Mundy for Rodriguez, Beilein, and Yost?
I'll take it.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:12 PM ^
Mundy graduated if I recall correctly and had one year of eligibility left so does that even count? I say one for those three is pretty good as well.
August 19th, 2010 at 10:01 PM ^
They also got Don Nehlen.

Going to the 4th fattest state in the Union. That should help his fitness level.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:07 PM ^
Well since I'm pretty sure MIchigan is pretty high on said list(I'd almost venture to say it's #1) perhaps people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:47 PM ^
I'm pretty sure its a southern state like Mississippi or Louisiana
August 19th, 2010 at 9:03 PM ^
1. First, the WVU fans will love the Michigan tat.
2. Will WVU fans actually accept the transfer? I thought they were against people changing schools? I suppose imports are ok?
Good luck to JT, he will no doubt do well there.
August 19th, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
maybe if he looks at the tatoo upside down?
August 19th, 2010 at 9:24 PM ^
for the masses: it's not someone who was going to be an impact this year - and it's not a quitting issue, it's team rules.
it's not something to sweat but to shake your head. tia until we can not MelColl it

August 19th, 2010 at 9:40 PM ^
same thing i said in the last thread...good luck to him
August 19th, 2010 at 10:01 PM ^
Couldn't be a better fit. With a laid back guy like Bill Stewart i'm sure they only practice like once or twice a week!! Right up Turners alley

A little over a week after he was granted his released from the University of Michigan former five-star safety Justin Turner will take is talents to Morgantown, according to Ray Jeske from ESPN 990 in Massillon, Ohio. The 6-foot-2, 186 pound safety was unhappy with the playing time he was getting with the Wolverines
"It was probably relative to depth chart issues, he didn't feel he was getting the starting nod and he felt he deserved it," said Jeske. "When I spoke with him in some length back in late June [Turner] made a comment that coming out of the spring he was running with the ones...it was his job and he had won the job."
Um, do just a little homework Jeske and you'll find that statement to be 100% untrue.
Okay, now to the nitty-gritty:
"Everything seems like he just wasn't happy with the opportunity here (Michigan) because he wasn't going to start this year."
What I get out of this is the kid looked around, saw that he was more talented than everyone else, and assumed he'd start. Justin, PT is earned by effort. The best hard working players play, not the best, nor simply the hardest working.
August 19th, 2010 at 10:07 PM ^
kid was a workophobe. didn't like the idea of being treated like he had to earn it. let's see where he's at in 366 days
August 19th, 2010 at 10:40 PM ^
I mean, I know a lot of inside guys, and can't get squat on this one. So who do you know? Do you work for scout?, cause you are starting to come across like one of he mods there. Really. He was a kid, got lost on the way, and went another way. Unless you have proof of something else, leave him alone. Let's be the 'Leaders and Best,', and not throw kids under the bus, unless you have 'confirmed sources', and we know how that works out usually.
August 20th, 2010 at 12:39 AM ^
August 20th, 2010 at 12:53 AM ^
And from what I've heard, classroom struggles hindered the kid, and the workouts become secondary if you can't qualify. And those are confirmed sources. So it would be better if he was in shape, and ready to play, and declared academically ineligible. What does your guy say?
Some kids just can't do both, so let's trash them. I hope he does well, where ever he ends up, he's a good kid, from what I've heard.
August 19th, 2010 at 10:45 PM ^
sitting right between these two.
