Notre Dame, Syracuse, Rutgers, and Maryland to the Big Ten.

(Title edited to not be such a cock-tease.)
Dogs and cats living together. Mass hysteria.
WFNI is now in a 2-hour John Wooden special... seriously? WTF?
You're killing me smalls.
RAY, when somebody asks if you're a god, you say YES!
Maryland and Syracuse? Wow. Just wow. Our basketball conference just got much tougher.
Rutgers is worse than both, in every sport.
Rutgers did not beat Syracuse head-to-head in ANY sport this year...
Including Syracuse 31, Rutgers 13.
Losing to Greg Paulus in FOOTBALL = no invite ever
Isn't that what I said?
I wish I could +1 you a lot more than just once for this one.
i'm cracking up with the Airplane reference. And you couldn't have picked a better one...
Thank you.
Kevin Bacon is totally Missouri there. That is supposing this report to have any validity which I give maybe 20%.
So do we still get them ther huskers
This is like the tape in The Ring. I won't believe it until I see it. Unfortunately, when I see it, I will probably die.
...freaking awesome for all of us DC area Wolverines. Please, please, please, please.
Completely agree. Please let this all be true.
that may be ending soon!!!! [My wife on the other hand is not going to be the happiest camper in suburban Maryland.]
It would force RCN to offer the Big 10 Network and I could finally leave Comcast. I can't overstate how much I hate Comcast.
...I have Verizon FIOS. I hated Comcast (although I like CSN).
USC picked a great time to end a multi-year investigation.
Talk about scooping up some TV sets, eh? Counting DC, that's a huge number of additional cable tv sets.
Just Wow.
I am still taking a wait-and-see approach with this all, but man it sure is interesting. I don't necessarily like a 16 team conference, but $$ rules the day.
I'd rather have Missouri than Rutgers or Cuse. Their football team will be good this year.
I have a feeling that their whoring has turned off the Big Ten.
And it doesn't help to be a crappy school.
Missouri is just as crappy as Nebraska.
Why take two crappy schools when there's one that you actually want?
Why take two above average girls when their hot friend you were after at first runs off with another guy? How do I begin to explain this...
I'm sure Delany will keep that short term thinking in mind, considering they likely wouldn't join the league for another two years or so...
If true, IMO this would be one of the worst expansion scenarios we've seen. 3 of those teams (and remember I'm talking about football since that is really all this matters regarding expansion) are mired in mediocrity with no real signs of escaping. The fourth, ND, is also mediocre, but with obvious brand equity and the chance with a new coach to become good again. Much better than the other three IMO? Nebraska, Missouri, UT (of course) A&M, Pitt, Colorado, even (yes I said it) WVA. Either better football programs, more prestige and name value, or both.
I would rather see Kansas, Missouri, Syracuse/Pitt join, basketball is big too! Then wink at Notre Dame!
you are also incorrect. Without football, there would not even be a discussion about expansion. And there would be no B10 network either. There is only one sport that commands ratings and makes big money, and that is football. It is really the only sport that matters in these discussions.
Just imagine the varsity LAX team in Michigan's future though! It would have immediate clout with a schedule including those teams.
Still, I hate it. The thought of Rutgers makes me want to puke almost as much as watching someone else blow chunks.
I'd love to see a varsity Michigan lax team go to the Carrier Dome. Or the 'Cuse coming into Ann Arbor.
Missouri has aboverage football and basketball programs. In athletics, they would be a decent addition/
And they're still the worst school academically under consideration... over 25 spots lower than such academic powerhouses as Michigan State.
Rutgers is just flat out horrible and have any of you been to the city of Syracuse? Its basically the Gary of New York.
Forbes disagrees
Forbes Best Cities to Raise a FamilyDude, I dunno about you guys, but I'm freaking psyched for this. At this point, I feel like the 45 spinster who someone finally proposed to - I dont care who it is, I just want it.
that report is false. Why? Because Charlie Sheen is my avatar. That's why.
...and I'm not yet convinced, I laugh at ND and their independence. The Fighting Irish earned it this time.
That might do it.
Rutgers helped themselves out today with the #1 overall APR, in my opinion. Beating out a bunch of private schools is pretty good.
What happens to the ACC? Who do they get to replace Maryland?
...Huskies.
Probably in that order.
Delaware State?
Reasons:
1. They're in Delaware.
2. Great bans - just ask them!
3. Similar academics to majority of ACC
4. Available
5. Used to getting their asses handed to them every time they play.
Perfect!
But if you line up the schools in the ACC and the Big Ten, the ACC will be higher ranked in 1-9. 10 is tied. The Big Ten wins spot 11. And FSU? Well... the ACC doesn't acknowledge them when it comes to academics.
