Gerry Dinardo: "Jim Harbaugh is all over the map"
Comments originated from an interview with a Nebraksa radio station:
“I think Jim’s kind of all over the map,” DiNardo says.
When pressed on his “all over the map” description of Harbaugh, DiNardo makes valid points.
“Well, what offense is he going to run? Who’s calling the plays?” DiNardo asks. “Is (Ole Miss transfer quarterback) Shea Patterson, who’s a spread guy — are they going to put Shea into the pro formation or are they going to take the pro formation and make it a spread formation for Shea?”
Michigan often has been a mess at quarterback since 2015, Harbaugh’s first season there.
What’s more, “They’ve had how many different co-offensive coordinators?” DiNardo says. “Who’s doing what? I mean, it’s a pretty simple question: Who’s calling the plays? Except that’s not a simple question in Ann Arbor. The answer is convoluted. …
“I was on the sideline and watched the Outback Bowl,” he adds, referring to Michigan’s 26-19 loss to an 8-4 South Carolina team. “It doesn’t look like a well-oiled machine to me."
I mean, just take it from a guy with a 59-76 head coaching record
Let's wait and see what happens in real games that matter.
What are "assistance's", btw?
Like the radio.
"Harbaugh looks clueless right now. " Does he? What are your thoughts on the plays shown in the thread titled "James Light Tweets About Jim's Great Game Plan vs Ohio State?"
Add O'Korn's misses throughout the rest of the OSU game--including the one with under 2:30 to go, when he had a couple of recivers wide open. But somehow, Harbaugh is clueless? "What's YOUR deal?"
I was respoding to message #53, which said that Harbaugh looks "clueless," and you jumped in. I don't know why you believe that overthrowing a wide-open receiver for what would have been a TD is meaningless. O'Korn continually missed the mark like that in the game. And you also failed to recognize that O'Korn failed to execute late in the game--turning what should have been a big play, with a chance to go ahead with time running out, into an INT. "What's YOUR Deal?"
This is a well thought out and lucid post, kudo's to you sir!
And to say that Hoke's recruiting is not to blame for last year's dropoff is purely absurd.
Let's look at he class of 2014 for a second those guys would have been the upperclassmen on last year's team.
Patrick Kugler OG
Kyle Bosch OG -xferred to WVU
Chris Fox OT -Retired from football
David Dawson - xferred to Iowa State
Dan Samuelson OT - xferred to Eastern Michigan
Logan Tuley-Tillman OT-Dismissed from team, xferred to Wash St.
Shane Morris QB
Jaron Dukes WR - Left team Medical Scholarship
Da' Mario Jones WR - xferred to BGSU
Csont'e York WR Dismisssed from team - enrolled at Toledo
Derrick Green RB -xferred to TCU
Hoke's Defensive Recruits fared much better but offensively out of that group the only real contributors were Khalid Hill, and Kugler.
Do you think that no real contributors from that class on offense could have caused us to take a step back last year.
This is year four, Jim's got mostly his guys in there now, and quite a few of them have real in game experience, we'll see if their contributons improve this year.
in year 3 were a Hoke/Borges QB or young guys that weren't ready.
What about the 5th year senior that Harbaugh recruited to transfer to Michigan and had been coached by Harbaugh for 3 years?
In our current 2019 class we have 4 OL and 3 of them may be best suited to play inside. With only Mayfield and a lightweight Hayes in the mix as possible OTs in the 2018 class the position still seems too lightly recruited to me. It is crucial we have at least 1 good OT from the 2017 class.
to recapture 3rd place in the B10 East.
You sure do like putting words in my mouth. I never said I was miserable or that Michigan made me feel like shit. And I never called the team clueless. I said that Harbaugh looks clueless since the offense in 2017 had no identity and was, essentially, a debacle.
I'm glad you're content with watching Michigan football regardless of the outcome. I'm not. I have said repeatedly that I could see this team winning the conference in 2018. But until that happens, DiNardo has some valid points.
but it doesn't square with your months and months and months of crapping on the team and coaching staff. Apologies if I confused relentless negativity with the team making you miserable.
Georgia, going 8-5 in 2016 despite top 5 recruiting year in and year out.
Am I saying Michigan is going to the National Championship game in 2018? Probably not, but we should be a playoff contender. The difference being a few breaks, calls and big plays at key moments that are impossible to predict.
I thought I read in some John Bacon book, possibly 3 and Out, that Carr was ready to retire but the AD talked him into staying on longer.
What is the source stating he was basically made to retire?
ironic
Would you have said the same thing at the end of 2016?
I think a reasonable answer is no. JH was considered to be on track. If not for the injury to WS, we would have won at least 1 of the 3 games we lost. Even a 10-2 in BIG was considered good. So he was not clueless in 2016 and suddenly became clueless in 2017. He had a bad year which was partly his fault and partly bad luck -- 2 QBs getting injured.
I consider MD to be an excellent coach, but I am sure some were saying that MD was clueless after 2016 season. We saw what happened in 2017.
Judging a coach with a good to excellent track record based on 1 year of data is stupid.
now he's in the South, winning over recruits. Whoops! Was that him drinking your milkshake?
