"He said, "One day you'll leave this world behind
So live a life you will remember."
My father told me when I was just a child
These are the nights that never die
My father told me"

Although I am mainly a rock guy, my music tastes are pretty broad, and Avicii was definitely in there.

I can assure everyone that without "Levels", barely anyone would know of EDM.

A true pioneer of the genre, and so much came out of such a short career.

Too fast man, RIP.

(There is currently an Avicii tribute on BPM Radio on SiriusXM channel 51)

Not a lot of empathy in that statement. You clearly haven’t a clue how addiction or mental and emotional health issues manifest. As someone who has had to deal with the lot (4 out of 4 brothers), I can with absolute certainty tell you that it is not a “stupid” choice to destroy your body. It takes constant vigilance, medication, therapy, family support, rehabilitation to have any shot at not destroying your body and mind. Your can shove your flippant comment up your ass.

Seconded. Reminds me of Ricky Williams and how people were falling all over themselves to criticize him for smoking pot and throwing away his career, never mind he was one of the most obvious abuse victims I've ever seen, wearing his helmet to hide during interviews, and self medicating to ease the distress of childhood trauma. Emotional and mental pain is a real, and serious issue. It deserves sympathy, and an honest discussion.

Everyone knows how addiction works. Someone ignores the information that something can be addictive and still tries said addictive item. Also people ignore that their parents or siblings showed signs of addictive personalities.

Reality is every year that passes people expect people to get soft on drug abuse and addiction. Mental health is a catch all for being stupid and making dumb choices. Let's be real this dipshit took drugs because he figured he was "cool". Stop coddling people who are dumb enough to used hard drugs and expect the result to be different.

So bummed about this news. I vividly remember Lollapalooza 2012 - they had to evacuate because of crazy weather. Nobody knew if it was cancelled for the rest of the day or not. When we got the notice they were letting people back in, the first act on was Skream & Benga - who smashed the place up. People were so happy they were playing in the mud like it was water. Then Bloc Party came on and just proved why they are one of the best bands in the world. Just when you though it couldn't get any better, Avicii came out in this crazy, massive head on stage and took the night to another 'level'. It was awesome.

What a tragedy. There should be more beautiful souls in the world like him, and not less. They say the spotlight is very cold, and many have a hard time enduring it. I know he struggled with fame, and hope he finally found some peace.

The electronic music movement in the mid to late 90's was so much better than this new stuff.  I just don't hear any band that is even remotely as good as say a band like Underworld.  "Second Toughest In The Infants" is a masterpiece.

When I think Underworld, I think 'dark' and electronic. That's why I put them in the same basket with those artists. I haven't spent any time with SHAED and I'm definitely not on the Bishop Briggs train yet - that feels so forced to me. I do LOVE me some London Grammer though - a lot! And lately I've been loving YEBBA, Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Pale Waves. So good.

Watch the doc on Tim, the writing was on the wall, this poor guy had to much coming his way when he was just asking for all of it to stop.  Feel bad for him....
