Tom Izzo Excuse Prediction Thread

Submitted by SF Wolverine on

What will Tiny Tom blame this on?  My early candidates:

1.  We really thought we would get to play in the middle of the night like Michigan got to.

2.  No way to preduct Syrancuse would come with an entirely new defensive set.

3.  It's incredibly hard and unfair to have to play away from Breslin.

Clearly this was due to the disappointing finish (for them) to the game last night that was waaaaay past their bed times.  They were all laughing, drinking & partying it up until it all came crashing down.

Remember, to a Sparty a Michigan win is worse than a MSU loss.

Now they can watch the Sweet 16 on tv!

He had to coach millennials.

His millennials spent all day on their phones watching everybody on ESPN pick them to win the tournament. They let it go to their heads instead of completely preparing for Syracuse.

Something like that

the fact that Izzo whined about one banked three by the dude from Bucknell who hung a 20 in the first half largely on a lottery pick, then the Spartans needed lucky banked shots to keep it within 5 against an 11 seed.

Trouble making the last shot (three), but the boys played their hearts out. No mention of course that they were 0-12 on three point shots in the last game minute.

I wouldn't know how to handle that if he did. Other than his poor job coaching, that is the only excuse that actually has some merit. 2018, the year Izzo unleashed, "Ben Carter, Zone-Buster."

That excuse has no merit at all. This is exactly the Spartan team weve watched all season. Poor coaching, poor fundamentals, poor execution. A group of mismatched talent with no cohesiveness. They get average play from their guards in a guard dominated game and tonight at least they didnt have one guy on the team to play that zone buster in the center you absolutely must have to beat Boeheim. Think back to McGary in 2013. Thats how you beat a zone. Izzo had no clue how nor the talent to do so.

Including the Big Ten tournament, we only played 4 games in a three week period. As a result, I have decided to vacate both the losses in the postseason, and declare that the Spartans finish with a 30-3 record.

It is funny to see the MSU fans immediately start crapping on Bridges and Jackson and talk about how good Izzo will be next year with his young, underrated talent. Because if there is one thing we've learned with Tom Izzo, he's great at developing players and making them better.

He blamed poor shooting and missed free throws. He threw his players under the bus. Not once did he blame himself for not putting them in a position to succeed. 8-37 from three and 2 of those were banked in. His adjustment was to play Carter more and shoot more from outside. At some point you have to acknowledge the outside shot is not falling. Attack the rim and force the officials to make a call. And play JJJ down low where he can do damage with offensive rebounds.

“I was hiding Jackson from the NBA scouts. Also, this will give him motivation to come back to school next year and win a giant bag o’ money, I mean National Title, like Miles did this year.”
