is Penn State not really all that hot? Three weeks in a row I have looked in on them and outside of Barkley--shut down by the Cats today--they look totally pedestrian.

Iowa looking like trash. That PSU loss must have really devastated them. Or they just suck and so do PSU and MSU

Iowa is very, very average. Or else they put their whole seasons effort into the PSU game and still are hung over. I think I am leaning towards the former.

Iowa may have blown their load in 1 game then were flat vs State & are struggling with a bad Illini team. NU obviously keying on sequan and PSU having a tough go with him out of the equation. Northwestern is hanging around. Penn St and Ohio st are not as advertised in the preseason. Both teams have flaws.

....and yet, Ferentz is allowed extensions with buyouts that could retire substantial portions of the national debt. I love Iowa's plan here, whatever it is, to be itself in perpetuity. Quite unique in an era of impatience and "what have you done for me lately?".

Oh Lord. Game notes scrolling at the bottom of the screen in regards to tonight's MSU game...how the last game at the big house ended. I wonder if that's used as the screen saver on all the computers at ESPN.

Exactly...they're using their safeties to protect the edge so the LBs can stuff the middle.

I suppose they could elect to cover and watch Barkley run wild on them, but as you said, that's the price you pay.

Greise did a great job of illustrating a fake to Barkley that drew 3 guys and left a PSU WR/TE wide open. It's just going to happen when you're giving him that much attention.

Now they're REALLY going to try and run him, so those play action plays are going to be even more open.

McSorely has got to be the most lucky player I've ever seen. Seems like every toss-up event, risk taken, has the absolute best case scenerio outcome. Completely unbelievable.
