That's what we call a Red Herring boys and girls. Iowa St has nothing to do with the quality of Michigan's OL.

Our O-line was average on a good day last season, it has consistently been mediocre in every single game this season and getting outperformed by significantly less talented teams against common oppenents. For all his previous dominant O-lines, Drevno has not at all performed up to expectations at UM.

The point being that this is college football. Inexplicable things happen. Under perform? That assumes that the graduated seniors were capable of more than what they actually did and demands a lot from a young OL. Am I disappointed in the OL? Yeah. But UM does have two guys with proven track records of producing good offensive lines.

I wouldn't call 3 straight years of dissapointing O-lines an inexplicable thing. It's a trend at this point. I'm truly baffled as to how someone with the track record of Drevno, combined with the talent we supposedly have, can have the OL continuously do so poorly against teams that get ripped by lesser teams.

What talent did the departing OL show in their four years? Your entire premise is based in the flawed assumption that the Hoke recruited OL had talent. Outside of Cole not one of them proved to be anything more than average under multiple OL coaches. The line this year is consisting of Cole, Bredeson, and three inexperienced players.

Now we're in a stand still with Cole playing LT not his best position, 3 sophomores and a center that couldn't beat out last year's average 5th year guys. It seems the physical skill level is still lacking. I guess we have to be patient waiting for another year to implement a sophomore Ruiz at center, 2 Junior guards, maybe a senior tackle and a possible extra sophomore at the other tackle spot. Sigh, idk. We've seen Harbaugh offenses get better throughout the year. There's only so much we can do with our current talent level.

So do you think the Minnesota OL who has paved the way to 152 yds at 5.6 ypr with 4:00 still left in the 3rd quarter - vs 139 yds at 3.2 ypr that Michigan put up against the same Purdue team through an entire game - are just flat out more talented than UM's OL? I get it they're young, but they still look way less well coached than lesser teams.

Not really.  We've played shitty offenses and Air Force which we shut down appropriately.  The only thing that could be concerning about it would be our offense, which we already knew was lethargic.  I haven't seen anything in these games that concerns me now that didn't concern me before.

So with Minnesota playing Purdue even and Florida getting beaten by a crap LSU team, I think it's safe to say all of our wins suck and we don't know how good (or bad) we are yet

The only one of these teams that was actually supposedly good was Florida and everyone knew they were overrated long before that game.  We haven't played any good teams yet.  We knew that already.  Seriously, I don't get people freaking out about the teams we've played looking like shit.  They aren't good teams.  That's not news.  Our offense hasn't been good either. Also not news.

Defense is pretty good, doesn't have the depth or experience imo to say we really are the best defense in the country, but they're elite regardless. The offense will be fine if they can keep improving and O'Korn can give us decent qb play. Overall on a good day I'd say we're about the 12th best team.
