Purdue does not have AC in Visitor Locker Room

Submitted by wildbackdunesman on

Purdue has AC in their home locker room, but no AC in the visitor locker room.

This seems like a dirt bag move by Purdue.

Harbaugh had the starters sit in the team bus with the AC on, as opposed to the locker room.

Purdue is in the B1G and can afford AC in both.  How common is this?  It seems like there should be rules against it.  If Purdue played us in late November in Ann Arbor, would it be okay to have the heat in their locker room just warm enough so the pipes don't freeze?

That is consistent with how they played. Two chip block penalties. Two targeting calls. Laughing off Personal fouls. New culture of dirt there. Be fun beating them.

I played D3 in the early 2000's, and the only locker rooms that weren't AC'd were the ones built before it would have been a common installation. I believe Purdue's facilities were just recently renovated.

and for all the preceding Michigan visits there. My guess is that it's extremely rare for it to be 90 degrees at the time of a Purdue home football game and thus it's never really been an issue before. Come to think of it, every Michigan game in West Lafayette in my memory occurred on some gloomy, overcast 50 degree fall day.

and not any of the last 30 times or whatever it is that we played there. This is kinda interesting. I just did a search for this issue and saw a line in Gerry Faust's book about his time at ND that claimed Purdue built a new visitors locker room with AC before he left ND in 1985.

So did they remove the AC at some point? Did the AC simply malfunction? Was the visitors' locker room moved to a worse facility?

A lot of questions here.

Yeah, Pink paint at Iowa is one thing, but no AC is pretty bush league. Where do you draw the line? Turning off the plumbing, no electricity, stagnant water in drinking fountains, rattlesnakes in the showers, wasp nests in the lockers, rabid animals... I am disappointed in you Pete, very disappointed.

One Purdue BRO a few rows in front of us would literally turn around, face us, and crotch chop while screaming "Fuck Michigan" for 30 or 45 seconds at a time after every single bad play. Every Purdue score, every sack, even when Speight was down and not moving. And yes, that was a dirty hit. One of many. Edit: that guy left right after Michigan went up 14-10 and did not return. Tells you all you need to know.
