Former UM assistant Scott Perry Knicks GM
On the plus side, working for Dolan usually means getting a nice golden parachute when it mercifully ends.
You will need it and MORE.
Good for Scott. It's better to follow the unfortunate mess of Phil Jackson as GM, especially if it is true that you are free to clean house and build it back up.
OP, in addition to the former Fisher players you mentioned Webber is still one of the better basketball analysts on TV, Juwan Howard is an assistant with the Heat and possibly heading to a head coaching role at some point, and longtime assistant Brian Dutcher is now head coach at SDSU. That's a very impressive collection of talent.
You can easily replace Phil Jackson's name with Steve Mills or Glen Grunwald or Donnie Walsh or Isiah Thomas and the one thing they all have in common is that James Dolan hired them all. Good luck to Scott, he's going to need it.
Dolan IS the problem with the Knicks.
You forgot Scott Layden, who once away from the fat man is suddenly a respected GM again.
I think that OP made a point, at lease implicitly, that Steve Fisher is underappreciated by the M community. And I agree with him. Fisher is a better person/coach than what the Ed Martin scandal suggests.
Fisher never stopped it. His firing had to happen. Replacing him with Ellerbee did not.
really a Frieder guy?
And how great for Hardaway. THJ got a four-year $71 million contract and his new GM has a connection to Michigan.
