OT: Paul George traded to thunder
Better :)
JK
About Indiana getting dick in return. They had absolutely no leverage in this trade situation.
The Celtics and Cavs have to be kicking themselves right now. A years rental of George for those teams, with even a 10% chance he stays, has to mean more to them than whatever they had to give up for him. The Celtics especially. They easily couldve beaten that offer and barely hurt their future. This is mind-boggling.
The Cavs do not have the equivalent talent that the Pacers got, not even close.
George had already announced he was leaving as a free agent after next season. The Pacers had essentially no leverage because they had to trade him soon or get nothing in a year.
And Oladipo is a solid player. Good defender. Decent scorer. The Pacers probably did about as well as they could have considering their position.
Is KCP 20m good? Is Drummond max deal good?
No, they are not. But that is the market today.
is 21mm a year good. He's one of the best and most versatile two way players in basketball. And KCP is a lot closer to 20mm than people give him credit for. Drummonds deal looks like an abomination now, but when he signed it, he was 22 and fresh off a 3rd team All NBA.
Yea I'm a pretty big Oladipo guy, but 21mm seems pretty steep for him.
We all know that salaries have exploded league-wide. Many of the recent criticisms of the salaries of individual players seem to be operating off of the wrong baseline.
John Wall was just offered a 4-year $170 million contract by the Wizards. Oladipo is no Wall, obviously. But in a league where the stars can make over $40 million a year, paying a talented role player $21 million is hardly absurd.
The cap is going to be $99 Million next year. I don't want my (likely) 4th or 5th best player making 21% of the cap. That doesn't allow for flexibility. Especially when you can find 60% of Oladipo for 1/10th of the price.
He scored 16 points a game last year shooting 44% from the field and 36% from the 3 point line. He's a very good defensive player and can match up against point guards and shooting guards very effectively. On a lot of teams, he's probably your 3rd leading scorer and your best defensive player.
He is 25 years old and still a few years away from reaching his prime. Right now, he is probably no worse than the 3rd best player on your team.
The latest projection is the NBA's soft cap will be set at $102 million and the luxury tax limit $113 million. The cap will likely rise even higher the following year. For today's NBA, Oladipo's contract is not that bad.
I am talking about V. Oladipo.
he's under 22 and came out of the all-star season. His numbers is pretty much matched close to his contract value which is a value signing.
Reggie Jackson's contract on the other hand...... That's an abomination.
Is KCP 20m good? Is Drummond max deal good?
No, they are not. But that is the market today.
Apparently my post was so good the blog displayed it twice.
Sure is
which is bad in today's NBA. He'll sell tickets because he's a former Hooisers.
but he has become a more complete player and has expanded his range to mid-range with an occasional 3 pt. The problem is he's injury prone.
He has shown that he is a triple-double threat(occasionally, not average one) when CP3 was injured in the playoffs a few years ago. He is one of the best passing big men in the league. It's so sad to see him go to a below-the-rim player though, the dunk contest where he was absurd doesn't seem all that long ago. Even with the slight physical limitations, he's a top-10 player in the league when healthy.
but he is injury prone. At his best, Blake is pretty close to unguardable because he's too explosive for slow footed PF and too strong for quicker players. He has improved his shooting that he has more than acceptable mid range jumpers and can make 3 pt shots.
can't guard anyone on the Warriors. So what's your point?
His game will help you win Championships. You're just a hater who can't be objective with Blake Griffin who is one of the top 10-15 players in the league.
Well, that being the case, here's the rumor that did not happen ultimately. This was being thrown around earlier today as a possibility, but alas....
G Hill to Cavs, Kyrie to Utah, part of potential 3-way, with Paul George the main headliner joining LeBron. Pacers seeking top picks.
