OT: '17-'18 Depth Chart: Version 3 ("Kum-Ba-Yah Edition")

Submitted by Mr. Yost on

Posting this for one reason. Because too much of the talk on the board today is trying to place blame.

I already know this thread likely isn't going to go over well - but, it's time to look forward. If you have snowflakes, put them in the Snowflake threads below. You can place your feelings there for everyone to read if he/she chooses.

Bad loss, and I too feel like shit, but crying about it and blaming players on the team or fighting over legacy isn't going to help or change anything (in a positive manner).

There isn't one guy on that team or associated with that program that didn't do everything he could to win that game last night. Not one.

Notes:

  1. He's coming back, dammit.
  2. I don't know the EE freshman, so I can't really predict who's going to play and who isn't. It's Decemeber of the year before...I really don't care at this point. The EE's will obviously have a leg up on the rest.
  3. I realize this is Michigan-related and technically not "OT" - but it's still way too far away to be ON topic, IMO...just some fantasy to take your mind off of yesterday's game.
  4. I realize we're likely going to have 1 more QB transfer.
  5. I will try and go back and update this throughout the year to keep it as current as possible.

I think you have too many fr red-shirting. I would assume that with all the youth on the team and lack of proven depth, that a lot of guys who might normally rs are going to get some playing time, especially after watching the rs bonfire at the beginning of this season and a team laden with upper classmen Edit: n/m went back and looked again and there weren't as many as I thought on the first pass through. But I don't think Kurt Taylor, paea and maybe one of cmh or dib rs. I think Ruiz probably plays also

I don't expect Kugler back either.  I'm not sure if UTEP has any grad programs UM doesn't, but if they do, I could see him being a grad transfer there to play for his father.

Sad too.  I'd like to think that without his shoulder surgery (surgeries?) he'd have beat out Jack Miller at C, and I thought he clearly outplayed Bredeson in the opener against Hawaii when they split snaps by quarter.

But I guess Drevno/Harbaugh didn't think as highly of him as our hopes were.

I'm expecting Harbaugh to recruit a grad transfer to help at OL, Linebacker, and/or DB. The latter might not be necessary if both Clark and Peppers are back.

McCray, Bush with Metellus at Viper plus a ton of young guys for depth that are very talented

we have a TON of talent - just not experience

same in the secondary, but Clark returning would help

OL -if OSU can start a true fresman as well as Bama I don't see why we can't

Does anybody think Higdon has what it takes to even be a 1b? He was awful down the stretch and his stats are inflated by some big yardage earned at the end of blowout games early in the season. The last 4 games he has registered terrible numbers. The guy either gets taken down by an arm tackle or bottled up on a toss behind the line of scrimmage. I'm not a fan of the guy.

Perhaps Cole takes guard and Bredeson moves to OT. Somehow, that gut is so advanced that he gets on the field and it wouldn't surprise me to see Cesar grab center. Cole is a better OL player than center, so moving and helping Cesar would seem doable. Especially with Cesar as EE so spring and summer to get things straight.

I like the way you think.

I share your opinion (and hopefullness) that Peppers will be back.  From what I can ascertain from his published interviews is that he is a character player that is wise beyond his years.  He loves Michigan and wants to end his Michigan career on a winning note.

Conventional thinking is that he will enter the NFL draft and grab the big ca$h.  This is the rational choice for a kid coming from an impoverished background.  However, I do not know what the Pepper family's fiscal situation is.  Whatever decision Jabrill makes is fine with me and he will enjoy my support no matter what route he takes.  I've certainly enjoyed his Michigan football career but feel it is missing the big moments...the Woodson moments that define a players greatness.  Winning the Lott Trophy and being a Heisman finalist is gravy.  Defeating your arch rival and winning a big bowl game, playing a decisive role in victory would be much sweeter.  I think Jabrill knows this deep down.  Woodson left after his 3rd year but he had beaten OSU and won the Rose Bowl and the Heisman so there was little left to accomplish.

One more year of playing under the tutelage of Don Brown and Jim Harbaugh is not going to hurt his player development.  Plus, I think he just has unabashed love for the University of Michigan and in enjoying his status as BMOC and he appears to be have the intelligence and the constitution to handle the fame and be a leader.  And, one more thing, I think he would like to Captain the Maize and Blue before he goes to the NFL.

Jabrill can play a crucial role in leading the team through a transition after so many valuable Seniors will have graduated and moved on.  He can be Moses for Jim Yahweh Harbaugh and lead the Maize and Blue to the promised land.

That is all.

G'day, god Bless and Go Blue!
