OT: Carrie Fisher in critical condition
She had a heart attack on a flight from London to LA just before it landed...CPR performed until she was taken to a hospital. Awful.

But knowing how they put it together, specifically, is a spoiler. Would have been nice to go into the last segment not knowing specifically was going to happen in terms of how the parts would connect.
People who spoil movies, that's a Festivus grievance for sure.

Yahoo is saying EMTs did CPR for 15 minutes straight before a pulse restored. Hopefully she pulls through but not breathing for that long can do some serious damage to the brain.
:(
Fuck 2016.

"Doctor here: If I had to guess, my money is on this being a pulmonary embolism (PE) caused by a DVT (blood clot) going to the lungs. This can quickly lead to cardiac arrest. These are common on long flights, more common in women and the elderly. This is why you should get up and walk around every hour or two on the plane to keep from getting DVT's.
LeRoi Moore, original sax player for Dave Matthews Band, died the same way...PE on a flight to LA. His was post surgery (which also raises your risk) but same idea.
I hope she's ok. The fact that it happened so close to the ground is helpful as is the quick attention from medical personnel. Hopefully they kept the blood flowing enough to keep her brain oxygenated until they could restart her heart and dissolve or extract the clot. Fingers crossed. "

The 60-year-old actress was on a flight from London to LAX when she stopped breathing for ten minutes.
A spokesperson for the airline said: “Medical personnel met United flight 935 from London to Los Angeles upon arrival today after the crew reported that a passenger was unresponsive.
I really don't like what that adds up to. This looks like big, big trouble.

Says contrary to what was being reported, media outlets were "writing between the lines", Carrie Fisher is in the ICU and is not stable.

That's what I told a client one year when he was bitching because he was about to turn 89. My comment was "well, that's better than not having any more birthdays". His response: "you know, you've got one hell of a point".
He and his wife both lived into their mid 90s...and died 8 days apart.
We've got another client who is in his late 70's now. When his kids ask what he wants for his birthday, every year he tells them "I'd like another one just like this one."

In Telluride during the film fest. First time. We shared a meal. Hit it off and liked her very quickly despite my ingrained disdain for leftists, which she is... I sincerely wish her a speedy recovery. Best of very very good luck in recovery and beyond, Carrie.

Although apparently they did revive her, it sounds like she was not breathing for a long time so she may have irreversible brain damage. I hope the reports are wrong and she recovers fully.
