Michigan Bowls in the 21st Century/ Jerseys
Michigan will face FSU in the Orange Bowl. Since it is not a semi-final, the ACC team is the designated home team. My first thought was that it always seems like Michigan is the away team in bowls so I looked into a bit.
Since 2000(*Years listed are the ones in which the game was played, not that season):
Home Jerseys (2-4)
2001-W Citrus Bowl vs Auburn
2003-W Outback vs Florida
2004- L Rose vs USC
2005 - L Rose vs Texas
2007- L Rose vs USC
2011- L Gator vs Miss St
Away Jerseys (4-4)
2000-W Orange vs Alabama
2002- L Citrus vs Tennessee
2005- L Alamo vs Nebraska
2008- W Citrus vs Florida
2012- W Sugar vs VaTech
2013-L Outback vs South Carolina
2013- L BWW vs Kansas State
2016- W Citrus vs Florida
Conclusion: Forget about the jerseys. Michigan has been less than stellar in bowls. While I'm disappointed in missing the Playoff, a big bowl win would be very very nice.

Yeah, if Harbaugh proved anything last year it's that he likes to slack during bowl season.

By definiton, your expected win % in bowls should .500 because theoretically they create even matchups (yes, there will be uneven games, but you'd expect to be on the upper side of that as often as the lower)
We are 1 game away from a perfect .500 record over the past 15 years.... seems about right to me.

Time to wear the Tom Brady Orange Bowl retro jerseys.

Texas beat us in the 2005 Rose Bowl on a last-second FG, which just made it through two Michigan players' arms to split the uprights.
If either of those guys had moved his arm an inch, we'd be .500 in bowls this century.

Now you've got me going.
If Bo hadn't had a heart attack the night before the 1970 Rose Bowl.
If Rod Garcia had just pushed his FG try a bit left on Jan. 1, 1972.
If Leach's pass hadn't bounced off Edward's helmet on Jan.1, 1978
If the fucking refs had called White's fumble on Jan. 1, 1979
If Lawrence Taylor hadn't twisted Wangler's leg on Dec. 29, 1979
If Don Rogers hadn't busted up Steve Smith's shoulder on Jan. 1, 1983.
If Al Del Greco had missed just one of his FGs on Jan. 1, 1984
If the fucking refs had called just one holding penalty on BYU on Dec. 21, 1984
If the crooked Big Ten ref hadn't called a penalty on the fake punt on Jan. 1, 1990

was a variation of away jersey, but it was a pretty ugly one-off look.

Those were painful to look at in person.

Why is the ACC the designated home team? Just curious how they decide that
December 4th, 2016 at 8:59 PM ^
When the Orange Bowl doesn't serve as a CFP game, it has an ACC tie-in. So it alternates years in which the ACC is the home team and the away team.
Last year it was a CFP game, so the home team was determined by CFP ranking. But two years ago, Georgia Tech (ACC) was the home team against Mississippi State, and three years ago Clemson (ACC) was the road team against Ohio State. Last year was an "away" year for the ACC, even though that didn't matter because it was a CFP game. So this year is a "home" year for the ACC.

Ahh got it thanks! I would love if we can break out the maize pants for this one. Two traditional teams, two traditional uniforms...

I'm actually kind of glad we have white road pants for this one. I don't really like the look when one team wears yellow pants and the other wears metallic gold.
