Well, that feels like somewhat of a cop-out to me.

If we really want to be the Leaders and the Best, I would hope that we can compete as the best school in turning out leaders with integrity and success both on and off the field, and that starts with the recruitment of players. If you disagree with that, that's okay, but for me that's paramount.

I would be extremely disappointed if we had to start justifying the same kind of lies that programs like Alabama and Ole Miss sell to their players and supporters.

we have 7 3-stars - the rest 4

Woods, Paea, Paye, Stuber, Hornigford and Mason are all 4-stars on one site or another - only Taylor is consistently shown as a 3-star

only Mason, Taylor and Paye are lower than 444 on the 247 composite - and Mason is also a key FB guy too and they are never highly rated overall

so it isn't like these guys are all low 3-starts but rather 3-stars bordering on 4-star territory

Given that this class is probably going to finish top 5, if Harbaugh and Brown want him then I'm good with it. They're certainly in no position where they feel like they need to reach just to fill a vacany. I'm sure they think much higher of him than his ranking and early returns on this staffs recruiting finds (Chris Evans, Josh Metellus, Khaleke Hudson, Eddie McDoom, etc.) are looking real good

The thing I don't  understand is why such the weak offer list?

His sophomore film is impressive, albeit the competition I assume is weak.

The other issue obviously the number crunch.

At this time we will probably take 12-15 more kids assuming there is attrition of 2-3 commits.

The kid looks like he has a mean streak on film, so how did everyone else miss this kid?

I love watching film of defensive line recruits playing running back for their high schools (Mo Hurst anyone?)... This kid has Ziggy Ansah type upside.

Here's a name I've never heard of, but I don't follow every single recruiting offer that Michigan gives out. Michigan is in no need at this point to settle for low 3 stars. This is another one of the "in the coaches we trust" recruits.

these relationships are what recruiting is all about.  There's something to be said for getting to know a coach, a player, a family.

It's cliche but "Trust the coaches" means more than trust.  Every coach sees kids differently.  If you sync with a coach, you can be a much better player.

It's true in football... it's true in life.  Mentors make a difference.

That said... Nelson to NU (and not the corn people)... book it.
