OT: Most Boring Class at Michigan?
Worst class ever.
Hey- to each man his own- but I thought Klemstine was as interesting as a guy could be talking about accounting. If all else fails, at least sitting in the comfy confines of the B-school (all leather seating) and the short class period can get you through.
For me, I have to go with Math 472: Methods of Numerical Analysis. I'd love to say I didn't learn a thing in the class that I'll use later in life; but its even worse: despite my A- in the course I didn't learn a thing. Period. When the most interesting aspect of a course is your Prof's thick accent, you are in trouble.
like you said....to each their own. I hated that class.
just start counting how many times Klemstine says "Can't we all agree...". Pretty sure he said it over 20 times in one of the classes, great teacher though...

It wasn't as much about Klemstine as it was me just not being interested in the topic. I think accounting is one of those subjects that you're either into or not into.
I'm taking it now, and its miserable.
That last one is too much work with too little time. By comparison, I was done early on the others. So if you find the exams not too long now...be advised the final is a bitch.
How do you hateIOE 474, Guzman is a damn legend.
Yeah, that class is boring. Just do what I do and skip lecture and watch the video recordings afterward. It helps when you can fast-forward through boring stuff.
Chem 125 Lab Lecture. Really poorly done lecture, and horribly boring.
only good part was the demos
not to mention the guy that did them, I forgot his name but he was definitely a fan favorite
when i took the class the assistant was named Ed. He was an older black man who seemed to hate the lecturer.
The best part was when he would hand out "Carol never wore goggles, now she doesn't need them" tshirts for correct answers.

Ed still does it. he is still the man. no t-shirts though.
I'll take any chem lab "lecture" to go with that. I'm pretty sure those are a sample of what hell is like.
all of those chem lectures are an insane mix boredom and gut churning fear. the first day of orgo i didn't have a notebook and there were 3 boards of notes. after that i was behind and couldn't pay attention the whole semester.
125 was the worst though. intro bio sucked big time also.
I thought the English Comp class was pretty bad, too. However, since there were plenty of women in the class, it provided a measure of eye candy that let Chem 125 Lab Lecture eek out the win in this contest.

That's why I only went to lecture once during the semester I had Chem Lab.
Not sure why
As dry as thermo can be (I'm taking the chemistry version Chem 463). I find the molecular statistical approach very interesting.
that class blows...
Charlie Brooks is an eaaaaasssssyyyyyyyy grader on exams.
The one I took was an engineering one. Mostly engine cycle stuff. I don't recall a molecular statistical section.
Classes I routinely fell asleep in included:
Stats 350
Econ 102
ACC 271
And while I didn't usually fall asleep in EECS 183, that's only because I stopped going entirely in October.
I went to three Econ 102 lectures on the year (One of my proudest accomplishments at Michigan) and for EECS I used to sit in the back row and watch DVD's on my computer with captions. I still don't get why we were expected to go to lecture to learn 3 commands over an 80 minute class! "'an if statement tests if something is true'...NO SHIT!"
Stats 350. Yes.
is Dr. J still teaching? I just remember him talking about his old pal Reagan and the Eukranian Princess...
Stats 350. It's a 3 hour lecture, which can ruin any class, but it's especially excruciating in here.
I took that same class 3 years ago, and it was terrible.
I can barely handle my 80-minute-long stats 531. All statistics courses are equally boring (maximum 'borosity') and may God have mercy on your soul for having to sit through three hours of that crap. Cue Billy Madison.
I have never taken a class at U-M, but I have taken a statistics class and I'm over here with these guys.
Psych 111 wins hands down for me.
1) Reading the book was a great way to fall asleep at 7 PM.
2) I had a terrible lecturer that was reading from someone else's slides and didn't know them quite well enough.
any chance u remember the teacher?
Sorry, that I do not. It was fall '02, she was female, and she had either started teaching it winter '02 or fall '01. She was awful.
I stopped going after the third class since I could get as much out of the PPT as I could from listening to her try to explain them.
Oceanography. dropped that shit like a bad habit.
it was not that bad. it was easy and got the QR credits out of the way
As a graduate of Southern Illinois University (Salukis) I speak for all and any who never had a chance to attend their dream school...
BLOW ME!
a kiss as you are bored
BLOW ME!
a kiss as you study on
most of my classes are boring thats why I spend so much time on Mgoblog.
I'm doing a continuing education Spanish class. It's five hours on Saturday and moves at a glacial pace. You all lose.
hopefully that didn't/doesn't go through football season
health behavior/health education (whatever the "intro" class was) from SPH days. It's really a class about nothing.
So it's kind of like Seinfeld?
I think that is the third math class one takes at UM. Loaded with not so hot Engineering girls, it was taught by a Chinese guy who couldn't speak English let alone say the word " Matrix", which the whole freaking class was about. It was like Groundhog day, same bad things over and over. Financial accounting was also terribly boring for me as a marketing major (personalities that are apples and oranges). God I'm so glad I am an old fart grad that doesn't have to sit through classes like those again.
if you are retarded and don't know how to do Algebra before you get to Michigan.
if you live in an alternate universe (the class doesn't exist). Not sure if you're thinking of Math 215 which would be the third in the calc sequence.

heck I programmed by punching cards in FORTRAN and COBOL and feeding the stack into a computer that was the size of a truck in the basement of an Engin building NUBS. Registering for classes was equally archiac. Anyway it looks like that 117 course was removed, probably because it was so boring.
I was a Chem Eng/MBA that graduated in the 80's and excuse me if I don't know as much math as you. Matrices was the third math class we had to take in the Engineering (and the most boring). I evun maniged two pass Thirmodinamix and Pee Chem so I aint retartid.
Everyone knows the hot engineering girls test out of Math 117.
9 out 10 girls Big10 (when the big10 actually had 10 schools) are good looking, and the 10th one goes to UM was based on Math 117 and other Engineering classes.

I'm gonna call bullshit on that reason because every school has its engineering trolls, male or female... unless you went to school so long ago women were only allowed at Michigan's college of engineering.
You'd think it'd be interesting, but it was brutal. (And on North Campus, to boot.)
