M Tennis coach Adam Steinberg resigns to take job at ASU
Warde is gonna have to make his first hire. Wow.

So we throw him out before the tournament starts and hire a new guy and we win a title in tennis? Cool!
(Before WD corrects me, I am fully aware all UM spring sports teams are done for the year.)
Coaches come and go, thats the nature of the business. ASU, warmer weather, better chance for success. Warde will hire a good one.
Very rarely do head coaches leave here on their own to go elsewhere.

Its made more bizarre by the fact that ASU's AD website does not acknowledge the existance of a men's tennis team.
They just announced in May that they were re-starting the program after an 8 year hiatus:

Just found that after a deeper Google search. You would think they'd want to update their site since there's actual, you know, news to report about the team.
Even at that, it's kind of a neat challenge to rebuild a program that hasn't seen the light of day in almost a decade, and kudos to Steinberg for taking that one on really. It wouldn't be the first time a coach from Michigan athletics has taken on such a task, and indeed I think building success here will probably help with success at ASU. I wish him well.
Everytime I look at I think of Charlon Heston in the 10 Commandments.
I just felt it was time for a change and The Onion's stock photo of God always cracks me up.
the program will go on still. He's bounced around.
Ohh, Johnny Orr... Thank you!! Your departure allowed the team to mesh with Bo's leadership and win the whole enchilada!!
That was Bill Frieder... what are you, twelve?
Fisher took over for Frieder, who left to go to ASU.
Johnny Orr left for Iowa State back in 1980.
Bill Frieder left for Arizona State, after Bo said a Michigan man will coach Michigan, and then they made the run.
Unfortunate, but no, not stunning or upsetting.
He spent the 13 years prior to Michigan coaching at Pepperdine. He might just like that climate, and it might be the opportunity to begin his own program the way he wants.
He was here for two years, it's not like he's Hutch leaving or Bo going to coach at Texas A&M.
Bummer to lose a good coach, up to Warde to find a good replacement.

It stunned some newspaper reporters? There's a good baseline
Weird, in your second year at a program you led an amazing turnaround and another school wants you to come coach for them? That never happens.

Well WolvDev, you're being extremely silly in this thread
Someone disagrees with you, so you try and turn youself into a bullied victim. Typical "WD".
Steinberg isnt a UM alum coaching at the same school as a man he idolizes, in a town he spent part of his childhood in.
Besides, Harbaugh did his massive turnaround in year one anyway.
If Steinberg had played at UM and not PSU, then sure. But since that isn't remotely close to the same situation (hell, UM got him coming of a national title at Pepperdine), this is one of those fun hyperboles that run rampant across the internet.

WD, would the assistant coach(es) be viable candidates or are they too new/junior?
the tennis ball bounces.
And depending on who the team gets, Michigan Tennis could possibly follow this tragic trajectory
That is not an attractive picture. She looks like she's all roided up and about to do something violent.
And that's not your type??
her boyfirend wasn't thrilled with the change.
That's seriously the same girl? Who is that?
Simona Halep (19 year old Romanian)
She won the Madrid Open this year.
I wasn't any good at it, but I enjoyed it.
It's a heck of a cardio workout.

We need a proven, varsity-level coach to keep this program growing. Recruiting is a key. I'm not sure an assistant promotion is the direction M typiclly takes.
A Michigan man will coach Michigan tennis!
He would make a fantastic coach. Plus I loved him in Old School
