Hello from the distant future: Maizen Jeffrey

Submitted by jaggs on

Coming in at a svelte 5lb 8oz, Maizen is currently on a Harbaugh recommended strictly whole milk diet in the hopes that he can get to a better playing weight. He understands that he must show continued improvement both on the field and in the community for this scholarship to be honoured.

Strengths:

  • Focus - spends literally 1/4 of his day on the Harbaugh whole milk diet with great aplomb
  • Good hip flexion - while position is not known, the flexibility will allow a quick swivel for a DB or nice bend for an OL.
  • Versatility - long athlete, could translate to many positions
  • Toughness - two older siblings are rougher than they should be, however he has not complained once.

Needs work:

  • Vision - Maizen currently does not open his eyes for more than a few seconds at a time. Coaches feel this is a positive as he can be taught proper eye discipline from a young age.
  • Size - working hard to get to a more credible playing weight. Tough to predict future position, though Harbaugh did call him a 'football player' and Don Brown called him a 'dude'.
  • Durability - currently held out of contact due to concerns about the development of bone structure

While some stargazers aren't thrilled with the early offer, it's clear Harbaugh has identified that he wants 'football players' and Maizen certainly fits the bill. It's expected that Maizen will taken on an ambassador role for his class and work to continue the championship tradition that Michigan offers. Go Blue!

Congratulations! I am typically not a fan of non-traditional names, because it seems like everyone is just trying too hard to be creative. I mean, how many ways can you spell Cason and Kennedy (both VERY popular here in Florida)? That being said, I think Maizen is pretty cool, regardless of the UM connection. Obviously, the approval of people you've never met really shouldn't matter, but thought I'd chime in anyway. Enjoy the little one!

but i just couldn't bring myself to do it.

more importantly, serious congratulations on a handsome lad.  raise him up in the way that he should go (blue!) and when he gets old, he will not depart from it.  children are a blessing. cherish this day and make sure you take care of the mgonewmom, she's the one that had the hard duties today.

No way my wife would let me get away with naming our kid Maizen. Congrats on the new member to the family!

but I think "Maizen" is destined to be traditional one day now that you've broken the seal.  It's absolutely awesome, sir.  Kudos.

Congrats to you and your wife!  I logged in just to upvote (I'm a total sucker for baby announcements).  He may be little but--with a name like that--I have a feeling he'll punch above his weight.

Of course, congrats to the new family.  My only cause of dissent is that I feel there is a lot of useless OT content on this blog, and new births are one of them.  We have thousands of members and I'm sure one of us has a new child, grandchild, nephew, niece, etc, every day.  Do we want to be informed of all of them?  I also frown on all of the useless banter and putdowns that most posts degrade to.  It is a chore to sift through all of the garbage to get to the quality comments worth reading.

That being said, I will give the poster at least some props because of the name, if indeed it is true.  His wife must also be a big fan, or else she is a saint.  ; )
