David Long decommits from Stanford

Submitted by Magnus on

Los Angeles (CA) Loyola CB David Long, Jr. decommitted from Stanford. He says Michigan and Washington lead, and he has no timetable for his new decision.

I assume it was an official due to distance but he was in AA about 5 weeks ago I believe and came away loving it.  Most assumed it was Stanford v UM 50/50 once he gave his post visit comments.  Looks like UW has made an impact since too.

edit - it was the MSU game

you can always check any guy's visits by going to their 247 page and looking @ middle of page.

...great player...nice athlete...good size for a CB...his team crushed my high school team this year. He would be a great fit at Michigan, his high school Loyola, has been a little down (primarily because they play in one of the hardest divisions in the entire country)...but they consistently produces nice D1 prospects...so nice to get a foot in the door. All that said...he is by no means the freak athlete you see in some of these hybrid WR/CB/DB players coming from SoCal like Adore Jackson, Juju Smith, Iman Marshal and Jack Jack.

Lavert hill, David Long, Gary, Jonathan Jones, Jean Delance/Terrance Davis gets you to 28. If we have guys like Nauta, Corley, or Crawford that want in, I think you'll see some of our lower regarded guys go elsewhere.

I've followed recruiting since the RR era. Assuming we get Gary, I don't think I've seen a class work out so close to the best case scenario as this one seems to be.

Nice way to finish would be

  • Gary
  • Long
  • Fuller / Hudson
  • a TE (Chase I suppose)
  • Delance / Davis
  • Crawford

This would require 2 folks to decommit. And we still need to stuff a LB in there.

If both Long and Hill would want in I wonder if Sir Patrick Scott is headed to Durkin land.
