Rashan Gary official visit Saturday

Submitted by BlueCube on

This is big because it didn't look like he had any days available for an official visit after he scheduled the Iron Bowl. It was thought that Michigan wouldn't stand a chance if they didn't have an official visit.

He will be here Saturday per Steve Lorenz.

Don't forget about him when thinking of McDowell...he was pushing to be our starting NG and Glasgow is playing at a high level right now. That kid can play. Can't wait to see him as a redshirt...should be ready by spring which basically gives him another spring/summer to get better as a sophomore.

I really think Gary is a special talent - better than McDowell or Hand. If his high school tape reminds me of one player, it's Ndamakong Suh. He has the choice of either depositing lineman behind the line of scrimmage OR beating them around the edge.

Good news but for some reason I really don't have a good feeling about this one. I know his mom loves Michigan and I get that we have the Partridge angle, however I just feel he is enamored with the SEC.

Idk why people are freaking out about an early visit! This is his bye week and he is choosing to visit Michigan, this is a HUGE deal! He will only be allowed 3 OV during the season, he has 2 more Friday games left but that doesn't guarantee he will take OV those weekends

I think its great news.  Mattison, Durkin & JH all get facetime with him.  I hope we get a win-win Saturday.  Win the game and win the big man over.  Hopefully the D line has another strong game.

Didn't you read the front page?

The Harbump: Michigan's overall season ticket sales have risen from 79,014 in 2014 to 89,614 in 2015, a difference of 10,600 seats. A big chunk of that comes from 7k extra students, which is pretty amazing. That section is 60% larger than it was a year ago. (!!!!!)

The student section looks empty at the top because the students STAND and CROWD DOWN, and because so many EXTRA TICKETS are being sold there.

but I put our chances at 10% tops (no inside info). The previous HC from his HS is on our staff along with a ton of very high caliber guys outside of Harbaugh and yet everyone is still positive he's settled on going South. Let's hope all goes well.

A very common opinion around here when Partridge was hired was that it would virtually guarantee that Gary would come here, and more than a few thought it was the primary reason he was hired in the first place.

Sam Webb is normally a very optimistic guy, but he's been quite guarded in his comments about Gary over the last couple of months—listening between the lines, so to speak, leads me to conclude that Sam privately thinks he's likely to go elsewhere. This is similar to what he was saying about Dashawn Hand last year.

Rashan Gary's Paramus Catholic football team is off to a rough start with a 1-2 record, having lost 42-20 at home to Eastern Christian Academy (the high school Freddy Canteen and Brandon Watson attended) and 41-17 at home to Gilman School (Henry Poggi’s high school.)

Regarding how early.. it's just as rational to argue that being his first OV makes a positive outcome more probable.  Maybe Gary will commit that weekend and not take anymore OV's.  We have first crack at him.  Maybe it signals that Gary has us in the lead since he just wants to see gameday and may decide to cancel any other visits there after. In any case, it's awesome that he picked us instead of another team to visit on this free weekend for him and his family with their busy schedule.

If the student section looks empty because they are standing and bunching, let's reduce that section, make it standing room only and then add seats bringing us to 125,000 capacity!!!

so people say he's been to campus before....is this the first time during Harbaugh's tenure? were previous visits under Hoke? if so, this is real opportunity for Harbaugh to make an impression

Top talents have us in their radar.  Hand, Peppers, Rosen, Gary...have all looked around the Block M.

Its hard to land all of these guys when they basically have a free college ticket to *any* D1 school in the USA with a football programme.

Under Coach Harbaugh, our odds can only get better.  Mattison, and to some extent, Hoke, have done a really nice job fortifying the Dline.

Hard to say what Bama and Auburn's stumbles will do, they can always spin it that they desperately need top players and the current state will parlay to early playing time.

Good News.

Glad to hear such a highly touted recruit will be on an official visit this weekend and I hope the "official" helps him choose Michigan.

But if he doesn't choose Michigan, remember it's because of a Noon kick-off and a late arriving student crowd or something someone posted on MGoBlog that Gary read and decided was enough to sway his choice of college.
