Well he was 10 in 1974 so that was probably his formative period of Michigan fanism and the original road uniform he was used to seeing and associates with Michigan football moreso than the uniform he wore... or he just likes it best.

Edit: oops, didn't see the other guy say that.

Here's the backs:

So are the two variations just different templates/options for players? One is clearly a mesh material, the other one isn't. Nameplates are slightly different, as is the cut.

Think I prefer the maize pants but damn those are nice. I am sure this question has been asked prior but how much say does the athletic department have on uniforms? If it is quite a bit then I hate DB even more than before. If Harbaugh and Hackett are able to get something this great in year one when seriously fuck DB. Asshat.

EDIT:  Ooops.. thought you suggested you SHOULD use 'maize' when singing the alma mater.  Still, I have no objections with the casual, occassional use of 'yellow.'  Maize is a shade of yellow.  An arrogant shade of yellow, I'm told.

The Yellow and Blue  is a classic.  One of my favorite things is singing the alma mater after a basketball game, win or lose, and the transition into The Victors.  That's one of my favorite Michigan traditions.
