Notre Dame says their UA deal is still worth more than Michigan's Nike deal

On a per annum basis, source with knowledge of the Notre Dame/Under Armour deal says it's still bigger than Michigan's new deal w/Nike.

— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) July 15, 2015

Take it FWIW though, as Rovell is the same guy who incorrectly reported this morning that Michigan's Nike deal was worth $169mm over 11 years (it's actually $122mm over 11 years, plus $47mm over the optional 4-yr extension)

Apparently Notre Dame's UA deal included the right to take some of the cash in UA stock, and UA shares have doubled since Notre Dame signed with them, which supposedly puts the deal at substantially more than the reported $9mm/yr.

Who cares what the figthing chickens think? We have Nike and that's what we really wanted in the end.

If they want to turn this into a dick measuring contest that's their problem.

Even if they had an incrementally bigger deal, who cares? They have UA and we have Nike.

In the rivalries: 3. ND Overrated Fighting Chicken too chicken shit to play Michigan so there no longer rival for that. 2. MSU instate rival. 1. Ohio ST. more than anything I want Michigan to beat OSU this year and to see Jim Harbaugh a hard handshake to Urban after the game. Oh How I Hate Ohio State.

It seems to me this would make for a better willie measuring contest than who's apparel deal may or may not be more lucrative.

But they don't want to have to play anyone--which is why they are "independent."

but when the excitement dies down and the price drops to normal level Notre Dame will acknowledge they no longer have the largest deal right?

Since they won't be playing us for decades, this is what our storied rivalry has been reduced to: petty quibbling about which team takes in more money from apparel companies. We COULD continue to trade meaningless jabs over social media. . . or we could just play some F'N FOOTBALL to decide who has a better program.

(Also, there is lots of uncertainty when calculating the future value of a contract based on a projected increase in stock value—according to this accounting, I should plan for retirement based on stock options).

In related news, Nike is now valuing MSU's entire athletic program at the same level as Harbaugh's hat.

Notre Dame can go fuck themselves. And of course it's from an "anon" source. Darren Rovell could've made the shit up for all we know. Even if a legit "anon" source came forward and said something...the "anon" source and Notre Dame can all still go fuck themselves. Our Nike contract is big and it's great, but it won't mean shit if we don't win football games!

Jesus, why does Notre Dame find it necessary to comment at all regarding the size of their athletic deal as compared to Michigan?  Are you really that insecure as an institution?

Besides, don't they have a grueling ACC conference schedule to prepare for?
