Uh no, they are more like SEC Purdue, albeit with a far better football program. Florida or Georgia would be my bets for SEC Michigan - quality academic schools that are the flagship schools of their respsective states. Auburn doesn't even have that.
This is what I thought too, but Suits?! Suits?! We are in the MARYLAND look-alike thread and you credit Wendell Pierce as the guy from Suits!? Good Lord.
Wendell Pierce was born on December 8, 1963 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He is an actor, known for The Wire (2002), Selma (2014) and Horrible Bosses (2011). See full bio »
I don't think it's an unreasonable statement for Brian to make. But, there are a lot of possible reasons that 2017-2019 Harbaugh doesn't seem like the "What's your deal?" guy, and more than one of these things could be a factor:
1) Nagging leg issue (he's been in pain and limping a bit for over a year)
2) Body/mind worn down from 24+ years of playing organized football
3) Toddler at home and 6(?) other kids in his life, plus aging parents living nearby
4) He's fat and happy (figuratively) and his famed competitive fire has died down
5) He's become disillusioned with college football and Michigan's ability to compete when you do it the "right way"
It's a new season and we're 2-0. What's happened in the past is instructive but not determinative of what will happen Saturday. I don't think Michigan will win, but I don't think it's a longshot either.
I have hope, but have also adjusted my expectations downward. Comparisons to last season does little to allay the BPONE in which me and many other Michigan fans exist. Yeah, we got it going decently but we got wiped off the map in C-bus.
Why not? It's not like he's a white supremecist or some other vile person. He was a crappy, self-absorbed AD but he is a former Michigan player and was present for some good and bad parts of Michigan athletic history.
I stopped paying my PSD last year and have never looked back (no longer a "D" btw, thanks to the tax law change). I'll take my couch, heat, food, and clean bathroom and keep my $3800.
No thanks. Former DL line players loved him but said he was middling as a coach. Also, we can do better. Hell, Steve Stripling is a better option if we're bringing in a re-tread. Personally, I'd rather bring in a younger coach.
I think football should look to the soccer model of TV advertising - quick hit ads during stoppages that don't take you away from the game. Instead of leaving the game for 3-4 minutes while Mr. Red Hat stands on the 20, pop up some ads here and there and reduce the number of longer breaks to one per quarter, plus timeouts. Also, cut first half timeouts to 2.
I know a guy who writes for Thrillist (not the Sparty grad who wrote this trash). Just to give you some insight into the high journalistic standards of this clickbait factory, he solicits his Facebook feed for input on best burgers, best restaurants, etc., for his articles.
I pretty much bounce between MGoBlog and The Wolverine (Rivals) all day. I check SBNation, particularly early and late in the week, EDSBS is occasionally funny (although ALL CAPS doesn't make something funny). The rest of my info is usually from podcasts - MGoRadio/MGoBlog, The Wolverine podcasts, Player and Fan (Chris Howard and some dude), Shutdown Fullcast, The Audible (Mandel and Feldman - good one), and Football Four (USA Today - sometimes pretty good). I sprinkle in some WTKA too, particularly with John U is on Fridays.
Michigan has dozens of men's and women's varsity teams. Those teams need support, they need administrative help, they need logisitical assistance, and they need financial resources to compete. I don't think 343 sounds like it's way out of line.
He's not crying over selling tickets. He's crying because the host just made a very rational argument that MSU won't win the Big Ten East for the next decade.
I'm sure that the NBC announcers will breathlessly tell how Notre Dame gives out the #2 jersey to commemorate their status as the #2 program in all-time win percentage.
I don't care if Evil Corp sponsors MGoBlog if it means the content remains free. Good on Brian and Co. for monetizing their work. It's not like Comcast is running ads in the Big House.
GT fans and commentators down here seem to be of the "good riddance" opinion with Bobinski. He was a crap fundraiser, Tech's facilities continued to fall further behind the rest of the ACC, he gave Paul Johnson a questionable extension, and only time will tell if he made a good hire for Men's BB (Pastner).
I think there have been podcast threads before. But it's always a good topic.
My current favorites:
College football/Michigan related, in addition to MGoRadio:
The Audible (Mandel and Feldman cfb)
WTKA's Michigan Insider (I live out of state so I can catch up with these guys on the podcast)
The Wolverine (Rivals site podcast)
Wolverine Beat (MLive)
Used to listen to The Solid Verbal (Sbnation guys) but I found them tiresome.
General interest (to me at least!):

Here's the Thing (Alec Baldwin interviewing show biz folks. Suprisingly good)
Used to listen to Stuff You Should Know but found it was basically two guys paraphrasing Wikipedia entries about stuff and then reading letters from their fans about how awesome said paraphrasing was.
For Android, Relay for Reddit (used to be Reddit Sync) is the business. On iOS now so I use Alien Blue. Don't like it as much but it is the best of the iOS apps I've tried.
Bluevod intimated he is buds with Hackett from "back in the day." He showed up on the Rivals premium board ("The Fort") during the Harbaugh search and batted 1.000 with his information. He was telling everyone Harbaugh was coming when the mods kept saying 50/50. He was telling all of us what we wanted to hear, and it turned out to be right.
He never really had anything else of consequence to say but some folks on The Fort hung on his every post like it was gospel, no doubt because he was always giving vague hints of other big things to come.
Now that Hackett has moved on Bluevod's source is gone. Bluevod apparently quit The Fort, and many were tired of his schtick. The mods in particular grew very tired of constant threads about Bluevod (threads very much like this one).
He was not linked to any of the jobs that opened after the regular season this year. Maybe they're starting to get it through their thick skulls that he's not leaving anytime soon. Now in 4-6 years after Michigan has won a NC, the buzz will get very loud.
They may be just Maryland, but they are backed by a crap ton of Under Armor money. The founder of UA is a Maryland alum and basically their Phil Knight. The Chip Kelly talk may sound silly, but if they can throw $8 million a year a him, who knows? Can you imagine Harbaugh, Meyer, and Chip Kelly all in the same division?
For Michigan-centric, besides Brian's shows,I listen to The Wolverine Podcast, which is from the guys from the Rivals site, WTKA's Michigan Insider, which is posted daily and ad free in Podcast form, and sometimes the Michigan Huddlecast, which is Jamie Morris and Jarrod Bunch. I'd charitably describe them as a work in progress, but they're getting better. Also subscribe the Huge Show for the occasional interviews of interest.
For national CFB podcasts,I like The Audible, which is Stu Mandel and Bruce Feldman. The Solid Verbal is decent too.
I thought this kid may have taken himself out after watching the film on Michigan's D-line. Kidding aside, I wish him the best. That's a b-tch of an injury to come back from.

This is all wild-ass speculation, so who knows.

And the live sports ticket price bubble just keeps inflating...waiting for that pop!

Well whatever you think of his fame, anyone dating Scarlett Johansson is a celebrity in my book.

That photo of Eaton makes him look like a character in an SNL skit about a NAMBLA meeting. Which was the intent, I assume.
Buy HTTV if you want Brian's preseason take on the team. Or wait until late August.

I feel like its cheating to post somebody's sibling in a look-alike thread.

There is an iOS app for MGoBlog. Two, in fact.

Those extra-wide stable doors are quite accomodating.

Neopolitan my man, Neopolitan.
Uh, could you take it easy on the General Sherman analogy? It still burns some of us...
Christmas Carol is definitely a solid #4 for George C Scott, after Patton, Dr. Strangelove, and:
<DOINK!>
Better than him going to MSU. But man, could we ever have used a top notch fast LB.

According to the schedule on BTN.com they're doing the Ohio St, Iowa, and MSU games today. Why they chose two non-competitive games is beyond me.

I still recall some unfortunate soul driving a Yugo being blown off the Mighty Mac during a storm. What a terrible way to go.
I'm kind of hoping they'll will be bored for this game.

Correction, Auburn has stumps. They have stumps now.
