What about Spartan Stadium?

Downtown Detroit on a warm April day with the Tigers in town and the Wings in the playoffs is as fun as it gets. In no way is it a downgrade from a day in Ann Arbor.
Detroit on its best day is still a heavy downgrade from Ann Arbor on its worst.

I can't even moderate this in good conscience because it's certainly on topic.
Let every neg count for a "nay" vote.

But at the same time I hate this idea.

No...hell no. Many recruits come for the spring game. Why would you NOT want them to see our beautiful campus/city?
Not to pile on, but I will agree that this is both a dumb and awful idea. No students would go and it eliminates it as a recruiting visit. Nopey nope nope.
Being able to go the Big House in April for a football game, even if it's just a scrimmage, is like a massive breath of fresh air in the middle of a suffocatingly long offseason.
The only extent to which Ford Field should be considered is as a backup location. And that's only in case super severe weather otherwise meant a spring game wouldn't happen.

I know this is going to rub some people the wrong way, but I absolutely hate Ford Field as a venue. Not just in comparison to the Big House either, but compared to other NFL style stadiums as well. I've been to most around the area and a few in the south including the stadiums that the Falcons and Saints use and really felt like Ford Field lacked behind them. I know they may not from a functionality perspective, but the "feel" is just terrible.
I hated the Silver Dome and I hate Ford Field for the same reasons. Everytime I go there to see an event - whether sports releated or not - I feel like I'm going to watch something in a warehouse. The lighting sucks, the sound sucks, and there's really nothing unique about the venue except the label of what it's called.
Now that the rant is out of the way. No, keep it in the Big House. Period.
great facility
makes bad weather obsolete
treat for players- logistic problems for staff
access to people in detroit including athletes who coaches want michigan to be their school of choice from early age
What the? Who the? Where the? Why the? When the?
