I'm not a soccer fanatic, but Barca V Juve meant soccer to this poster.

Out of curiosity, what exactly did you think "Barca or Juve" was referring to when you clicked on the thread?

JUVE ALL DAY
Pirlo and Buffon riding off in the sunset potentially with a UCL Victory would be amazing.
I worry about Chiellini's injury and what that'll do to the defense tho.
Having an Italian team win would be a nice change of pace for UCL considering the trifecta of Barca, Bayern and Real run the sport atm.
Watching cast offs from United and Real in Pogba and Morata win the UCL would be priceless too.
Vidal, Pogba and Tevez are going to have to set the tone for Juve. I don't think they will win in their typical defensive fashion. They're gonna need some firepower.
Mostly because my wife is Italian.
¡Força Barça!
Pogba
My one stickler about Messi being GOAT is that he essentially plays with the #3, 4, 6 and 7 players in the world on his own damn team.
Like what all-time player's stats wouldn't be boosted playing with that kind of caliber of teammate?
While true, Messi is on another planet, he is the GOAT in my opinion. Besides Ronaldo, who is #2 in my opinion, there is a signifcant drop off from 3 on.
I always respected Barcelona in that their talent is mostly homegrown. They didn't start following the RM format until Ronaldinho essentially retired and Messi already established himself. Hell, they didn't have kit sponsors until 2011.
As an Arsenal and Dortmund follower as well, I despise oil magnets going all Yankees on the rest of the soccer world.... (looking at you City, PSG & Monaco)
I get what you're saying, but clubs having super-rich backers isn't a new phenomenon, nor is it just restricted to oil tycoons. And EPL clubs aren't exactly known for developing lots of homegrown talent.
The difference is... clubs like Bayern and Man U have history of winning tradition making them the superhouses they are now.
Real was just always rich and favored by Franco. Barca had insane national pride in the Catalonian independence movement, so they were always strong as well.
City and PSG especially have 0 winning tradition and just got swooped up by luck. Chelsea would be in the same boat a decade earlier.
PSG had a reputation as a underachiever prior to the Qatari takeover, true, but to say they had zero history isn't fair. They have the longest active streak in the French top flight, won the European Cup Winners' Cup once, and advanced as far as the semis of the CL. They have been one of the best-supported clubs in France for a long time.
Keep in mind, French clubs have historically been at disadvantage vis-à-vis their foreign counterparts because they have to undergo annual financial reviews by a government agency, which doesn't allow them to rack up hundreds of millions in debt like Man U, Real, Barça and others have. (And the government certainly won't underwrite their debt like the Spanish government did with Real.) For this reason, the top French players have historically fled for greener pastures (with Arsenal being one of the biggest talent poachers) when their clubs couldn't give them competitive salary offers.
For PSG, the financial playing field is now finally level with the big boys. They are the only top-flight club in a metropolitan area of 12 million people - by all means, they should be a giant.
The word is magnate, and your comment is racist.
Why? Doesn't this comment also apply to Russian magnates?

(Never mind it's about soccer and not marked as OT!)
But as previously stated in the thread, my wife is Italian. The 2006 World Cup was a dark time of non-stop talking about the greatness of Italy. I do not wish this to happen ever again (not even to my enemies). Thus,
¡Força Barça!
I mean... is she actually a Juventus fan? She could be an AC Milan or Inter Milan fan.... rivals... thus hate Juventus...
BUT they haven't been in Serie A since 1995. So whenever any Italian team of stature does something significant, I hear all about it. A LOT.
I've got the same head/heart split---pulling for Juve, expecting Barca.
As a huge Tevez fan from his City days, and absolutely love his work rate, I can't help but think Barca has this. 3-1 Barca and a masterclass performance from the god amongst men, Lionel Messi!!!
As an aside, it's ironic that folks will spend time writing a comment about how they "wasted" 30 seconds clicking on a thread that they didn't know was about soccer.
Calciopoli was shady as hell, but people forget AC Milan, FIorentina and Lazio's involvement. Not to mention the ridiculous bullshit involving Inter manipulating the situation.
