Quite a Day for Ex-Wolverines
One week after Tom Brady won the Super Bowl MVP, it was quite a day (and night) for ex-Wolverines:
- Mitch McGary broke out for 19 points and 10 rebounds in a win over the Clippers, just a few days after being in the D-League.
- In that same game, Jamal Crawford pumped in 21 points for the Clippers.
- Max Paxioretty had a goal and an assist for the Canadiens in a win over the Bruins.
- Jacob Trouba had a goal for the Jets in a win over Colorado.
- Carl Hagelin had a goal for the Rangers in a loss to Dallas.
On the flip side, GR III did not play (coach's decision) and Nik Stauskas went scoreless in 10 minutes. Still, our ex-guys own Sundays!

And Hannah Montana called her a "bitch" on live TV. Real glad I let my 10-year-old stay up to watch the Grammys to hear that.

: a sound or combination of sounds that has a meaning and is spoken or written
Let's evaluate this definition.
- Sound or combination of sounds - Probably not an issue
- that has a meaning - Uh oh!
Words mean things. It isn't the sound that can be upsetting, or inspiring, or obnoxious or loving, it's what it means. The Constitution of the United States is just a collection of words, but it impacts the laws of our country, which, are themselves, just words. Yet our lives are impacted by them every day for better or worse.
"It's just a word" is one of those wonderful statements that is simultaneously true and absolutely irrelevant.
Oh wait, are my statements obnoxious? Condescending? Blindingly obvious?
They're just words...

Graphic violence is totally acceptable. But if a child sees a nipple or hears the word fuck, they'll be scarred for life.
/parent of two. It's just a word, and everyone has nipples. Some with more hair than others.

...not ready when he left, and he'd be getting a lot of shots and offense run through him right now were he still a Wolverine. Moreover, with Coach B's emphasis on fundamentals, it would be good for Glenn b/c his ballhandling and shooting need improving.

Pretty cool for Mitch to have his first big NBA game, and afterwards Kevin Durant says, "He's a gamer." To bad we didn't get more games from him here, but it was stil good stuff.

There are no ex-wolverines but there are former U-M students. Once a wolverine, always a wolverine.

He isnt much of the game plan because the Kings are going all in on McLemore.
He is just buried in the depth chart and isnt exactly capitalizing on the playing time he is getting.
I heard earlier in the season, right before the coach got fired, he was talking to him and telling him to shoot more. That is why they drafted him, because he is a shooter but he isnt shooting the ball. Partly because he isn't getting it much and partly because he looks lost when he does get it. definitely doesnt look like he has that swag that he had at michigan.

Upvote for you as I say this also whenever we talk about college BB. Having a 3 year rule - similar to the NFL, will help make the play in BOTH college and the pros so much better. Yes, it may cause a loss of some income for some kids, but on the other hand it would also extend the pro careers of people like Nik, so he could end up even making more.
In addition, it would also balance out the college talent, as Kentucky would not get every year 3 - 5 five star kids if they know that they need to stay for 3 years.

you or your money. Try telling guys like Lebron, Kobe, Garnett, Howard, etc that they should have played 3 years in college. You think Lebron playing at OSU for 3 years would have made NCAA basketball better? Sorry, but not a chance. Anthony Davis should have played two more years at Kentucky? Not a chance.
It's convenient to look at the Stauskas' of the world and say he should have stayed. But the other side of that coin is a Lebron or Kobe. Those examples had no business playing college and should have went straight to the league.

NCAA bball/NBA relationship is very different than NCAA baseball/MLB relationship. My guess would be NCAA bball does not want to follow the NCAA baseball model.
I can't really say I buy into the premise that the NCAA and NBA game would be better by requiring kids to stay. I don't see any evidence to support this idea and I don't see what mandatory 3 years would accomplish.

But for every Lebron & Kobe, there are SCORES of players who got drafted and got washed out of the NBA. The Lebrons & Kobes will be fine even if they have to suffer thru 3 years of college ball, but it is all the other players with "great potential" who need the seasoning of a few years in college. And yes, having Lebron play 3 years in college would have been exciting not only for OSU fans, but all CBB fans.

And GRIII got a guaranteed deal. Hard to say he made the wrong decision. Could have broken his foot like Lavert and been way worse for staying. Hat said, I would have loved to see him play another year under JB.
