You're questioning a guy you know NOTHING about! There's too many people here that act like they know anything about coaching. You don't know what Jay did at Oregon State and the Ravens. Jim isn't going to hire someone he doesn't believe in. I would think John would tell him what he thinks about Jay and what he did the last few years at the Ravens. If anything this might be one of the safest hires because Jim knows his son so well.

It's not a faux pas to hire "in the family". So let's ignore that and consider that this coach Jim (HARBAUGH!!!!) is hiring is someone he can completely trust. Someone he knows like the back of his hand.

So now Jim can trust that this new TE coach can learn quickly. He even knows that the coaches he learns from will teach him a ton. Let's not water that part down, he will learn a ton if he doesn't know things already. On top of that, one thing we all do when learning is we QUESTION EVERYTHING! This is possibly one of the best parts about it. While in a coaches meeting they could be talking about traditional schemes A, B, and C. Then this new coach points out that from what he's seen they should be looking at other things. He may be right, he may be wrong. The point is diversity.

My last point may not hit home, but I think this is a good hire. No problem with it whatsoever.

And I'm guessing that they would have been given a chance at whatever school their father was coaching at.

Sure, Michigan could try to get a coach with experience at the position, but at the same time you look at that coaching roster and I'm not too worried that the TE coach doesn't have experience.

+1 I would not take that bet.  Jay has his father, uncle and grandfather to tell him all he needs to know...and to kick him in the a$$ if he takes a day off..which he probably will not.  To be 25 with NFL and now Michigan experience under his belt is impressive and Id bet that he is not taking this lightly.

He seems prepared to bring a strong facial hair component to this staff, something I worried we would lack following the removal/retiring of Fred Jackson and his bomb ass mustache.

He will have the help of Baxter who's been a TE coach in the past. Not to mention the other 7 coaches with NFL experience.

Youtube "7 year old drummer". The kid is AMAZING on the drums. Well beyond his years. Why? Because he's dad was a drummer. His grandpa and uncle we're drummers. It's in his blood. It's all he knows. It's not like Jim made him the OC.

Seriously youtube it...
