Parking - Increase in Required Priority Points
Priority points for parking have increased. #HarbaughEffect (and golf course renovation). Blue Lot will now require 875 points (i.e., $87,500 of athletics donations) and Grey Lot will require 650 points (i.e., $65,000 of athletics donations). Brown Lot has not been specifically priced, but I assume the cut-off will be in the 500 range.

Does anyone remember what the Blue lot was last year?
January 13th, 2015 at 3:38 PM ^
I believe he said it was $750.
January 13th, 2015 at 3:41 PM ^
which would be $75,000 if all the points were gained through donations.

Calculating Priority Points
Priority Points are assigned as follows:
1 Point – Athletic Donations
One point is awarded for every $100 in lifetime giving to the Michigan Athletic Department, including Preferred Seat Donations.
1 Point – Marching Band Donation
One point is awarded for every $100 in lifetime giving to the Michigan Marching Band.
1 Point – Lifetime University Donations
One point is awarded for every $1,000 in lifetime giving to the University of Michigan.
1 Point – Ticket Loyalty
One point is awarded for each year of consecutive season ticket purchase in every season-ticketed sport since 1992.
20 Points – Michigan Alumni
Twenty points are awarded for alumni status, with a maximum of forty points per account.
40 Points – U-M Letterwinner
Forty points are awarded to those who earned a varsity letter at Michigan with a maximum of eighty points per account.
A gift to Michigan Athletics is required.
Minus 60 some points if you were a letter winner, yeah all donations. Money talks and suckers walk farther from where they park to get to the stadium.
Golden Rule as always: Those who have the gold, make the rules.

Season ticket loyalty was the bigger variable I was thinking of. If you've had four hockey and basketball tickets for ten years that's eighty points not including any PSD's attached to them.
I'm assuming the alum/letterwinner points are kind of an "is what it is" proposition for the vast majority of prospective ticket/parking pass holders, in that not many people will be looking to play a varsity sport or get a degree/second degree to increase priority points.

You only get 1 point per sport per year (instead of per seat per year). Therefore, in your example, if you had four hockey and basketball tickets for ten years each, then that's only 20 points (instead of 80 points since it's not per seat).

What happened to the old red lot? They shut it off for a while because of construction to the Stadium St overpass but whats the excuse now. I used to park over there.

It's probably not as much the Harbaugh effect is that there is a yearly increase ever since the Premium Seating came into effect.
With the premium seating, you are forced to make a sizable donation every year.
So, almost automatically the numbers are going to go up every year.
January 13th, 2015 at 3:01 PM ^
Agree on the annual PSDs boosting up the numbers, but the top tiers are increasing at a 125 and 75 point clip, respectively. In other words, if you want to keep those parking spots, you are donating approx. $7,500 to $12,500, which is a sizable amount even if you have 4 seats in the Victors section (i.e., 4 X $600 = $2,400).
January 13th, 2015 at 3:04 PM ^
Yes, but if you have 4 club seats, you are paying 6K to 24K in donations every year.

True, but I'm just a plebian so I wasn't even thinking that large. :(

this affects big ballers only and I have a hard time being upset that their swanky tailgate next to the stadium costs them an extra $12.5k this year.
I'll keep punching my $20 into the Thayer lot and walk the mile.

Is the golf course completely shut down for the entire 2015 season? Are they allowing a limited number of cars on the course?

I believe they are just closing the Green Lot which is the UofM Golf Course Clubhouse parking that is accessed from Stadium Ave due to construction at the club house. The green lot has been a permit only parking area for a while.
I am sure the UofM golf course parking (not to be confused with the AAGO parking) that you enter off of Main and State Streets will still be available on good weather games.

Thanks

Not 100% of everyone elgible will purchase a parking permit. People below those point totals could end up in certain lots if everyone does not purchase permit. Also a way for Michigan to entice people to increase dontations if they think that will improve chances at a better parking spot.

The priority points needed almost has to go up every year, especially if the same donors want to stay in the same lot. Those that donate at this level are giving more each year above the PSL donation. Therefore, you would expect this number to increase every year to encourage those to continue to give every year. I would be shocked if they did not rise every year, can't start to let the rif raf in.
