HELLO: Ethan Alexander (c/o 2033)

Submitted by will on

In response to obvious excitement over the recent hire of one Jim Harbaugh, a recruit which was not expected to be announced until next wednesday decided he could wait no longer.

Ethan Alexander Nimmo, weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces and measuring 19 inches was born Wednesday morning in Columbus, Ohio.

Their father is proud to announce another member of the Michigan family, but is embarassed by his lack of preparation for this announcement. While custom shirts exist, they are safely stored in a box which could not be located.

Ethan was chosen as a name by his mother, and Alexander from his great-grandfathers middle name, and a WR you may remember. Showing early promise, he has strong hands. His pad level will surely develop as he matures, he is already raising his head to look around.

Mother is resting well, and the experience is proving far less difficult so far than the twins were. The post is actually done the day of birth!

Mom and Dad!  Just make sure you teach him well all the important things of life, such as The Victors, "Go Blue!" cheers, Harbaugh, and the meaning of "Get off my lawn!".

Good luck on #3, especially with all 3 of them under 2! Learn how to play zone D quickly as man is no longer an option.
Full disclosure- I thought this thread was about a new K or hockey player.

great news and congratulations of course. But if everybody posted newborns in this way, you could see how it would get a little crazy. it's a great post, but I'd suggest titling it a little differently than a committing recruit

I did it for the twins and it was well-received; I couldn't let Ethan one day go searching for his and ask why the twins got one but he didn't :p I can't wait till the 3 of them pick out their own mgoblog handles! The readership of the site has grown tremendously, so you may be correct that it's not sensible to have tons of posts- but sometimes I feel like mgoboard is more of a family than just a news blog.

No issues with the post, neither me nor the blog, as evidenced by the 100+ upvotes.  I just think if you labeled it differently - as you seem to have changed it now - it would eliminate the negs and negative comments.

Lots of people post similarly when their children are born, but they don't use the exact syntax of a committing recruit, as you did here (pre-change).  That was my point about everyone doing this - if they all used the exact titling syntax, it would get a little out of hand.  But again congrats and my best wishes.

Just ignore all negative comments; there are a few in every crowd.

Nothing can wreck this great day in the life of your family!

Just one more thing, and this is important:

Make sure to get video of the first time your baby tastes ice cream. Priceless!

Did he have a hat ceremony? I'm surprised TomVH missed it. He's slipping.

Seriously...enjoy this time. It will be tough but there won't be any other like it. Congrats!
