Les Miles asked about Michigan at his Monday presser.

Submitted by Brandon_L on
He does not read the paper. He makes it very clear.

Q. And whether you're interested or not, at this point, when there is a job opening at Michigan, do you just expect to hear from them giving your ties to Michigan and your success here?

COACH MILES: Yeah, I have given little or no thought to any other jobs. I am so comfortable with my team and doing what I'm doing. I do not read the paper. I certainly respect and love Michigan and wish them the very best.

Q. Do you take it as a compliment when you are connected with another job?

COACH MILES: I don't really look at it as a compliment or not. Again, I haven't read a newspaper in a month, just so you know. It's hard for me to tell you what the record of other schools are. I just kind of enjoy going to work and getting it done. I need to correct that. I do read the newspaper. Just not the sports section. http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2014/11/full_transcript_of_lsu_coach_… Edit: sorry if this is not thread worthy, but it seemed better than x,y,z CC thread. Mods please delete if this is not thread worthy.

for making this thread, OP. There are a lot of ornery cunts on this board, but I'm not one of them. In fact, I rather like reading into what potential coaches say. Really. I wouldn't have seen this otherwise, so I am thankful. If I do not like a thread, I can downvote it. It does not physically or mentally harm me if I don't like it. That's the wonderful thing about threads like this. You can either like them or not like them, and it makes no functional difference in your life either way. It's amazing.

Side note: I'd love to have Les if we can't get JH. We need stability and hope right now. Les can provide both those things. We really can't afford to be picky, and we're lucky to (potentially) have him as an option.

Miles said doesn't read the paper.

However, he didn't deny reading MGoBlog!

He is totally our next coach!  Unless Harbaugh doesn't not say something either.

/coach change logic is illogical.

The best part of this for me was the long, rambling non-question talking about Alvin Dark and his performance in the Thanksgiving game against Tulane in 1942 and how, among other things, Dark was a scratch golfer, but yet it somehow came back to LSU being better at home. I almost wished the reporter had asked a real question - that could have been intriguing after that introduction.

I don't know if I've just had a shitty couple weeks that are impacting my overall optimism or what, but my Harbaugh hopes have waned quite a bit lately. I've started to think Les is going to be the guy, and this does nothing to diminish that. LSU's schedule still has games on it so of course this is what he's going to say.

I am hoping that you got my humor here. But on a serious note, the world is very small. Both of them being former players from around the same time. There might be a chance they know each other. There might be a connection between the two. All joking a side, we will all know shortly. My opinion, we won't know until after Jan 1. Just my thoughts.

Welcome to what every coach ever says when they're asked about a job that isn't open yet when they already have a very good one themselves. It means nothing either way--it's a reporter looking for Les to tip his hand. He's smart enough not to do that.

Les Miles is perfect for a place like LSU. Honestly, he's earned enough goodwill where they won't run him out of town, and his personality fits much better down there than it does here.

So I know we are making fun of this an all but it seems kind of newsish. If he hadn't been contacted or wasn't considering it, wouldn't he just deny instead of saying "I haven't thought about it"?

OTOH Isn't Mo still involved in the athletic department in some way? Hard to imagine he wouldn't be working on putting together a coalition to stop any outreach to Miles.

If we hire Les, does that mean we're going to have to get a small patch of grass on the sidelines for him to chew on? Similar to the patch the Ravens laid of in the past for Ray Lewis to rip up during his dance.

Considering how things went last time, he might very well be down playing any interest that he may have or that Michigan has in him. OT but not really OT, I often find myself wondering what could've been...

Miles will take it! It is too dificult to win 10 or more games playing in the SEC west! I have a feeling that Michigan will not offer him the job just like they never offered him a job in late '07. There probably remains a lot of resistance having Miles as our coach  in the AD.
