Totally unsurprising. A Gurley ACL has no place in MANBALL

Feel bad for the kid. Niners will draft him in the 4th round and redshirt him.

I know you meant to put IR.

article like Thursday about why Gurley had nothing to gain by coming back from his suspension.
November 16th, 2014 at 5:53 PM ^
Other than a National Championship. 2-loss SEC champ is likely in. Feel for the guy though. Been a GREAT player for UGA for all 3 of his years there. Sad way to end his career.

the Forbes article, though, seemed to focus only on the financial aspect (which I get...it was Forbes after all, not a place I typically scour for my sports info). They mentioned if he declined the reinstatement, he could sign with an agent, legally sell his autographs, workout, and stay healthy, and most likely remain a mid to late first rounder. The author then said something like, "Gurley coming back and getting injured in the next few weeks could harm his future earnings, while his not getting hurt would mainly benefit the SEC, Georgia, and perhaps Mark Richt in financial ways."

Yeah, that sucks. I'm sure he'll get a chance in the draft, but not only was he punished for breaking a hypocritical rule (yes, I know it exists for a reason), but to then have an ACL tear to end his year seems like an unnecessary piling on. He's worth a flyer in the draft, but this could very well have cost him millions of dollars.

Marcus Lattimore pt 2.
November 16th, 2014 at 5:08 PM ^
this isnt really comparable to lattimore because lattimore had a devastating knee injury tearing multiple ligaments and having fractures in the two lower leg bones included in his injury. plus it was the second knee injury he had suffered in his career and that not true for gurley, so while they both have suffered knee injuries the one lattimore suffered was much more devastating than this. you see guys come back from acl tears every year, he'll be fine

Adrian Petersen had a few ACL tears too and he recovered pretty well I'd say.

Todd Gurley is a freak too, but Peterson's abilities simply defy logic.

"Peterson's abilities simply defy logic."
Such as his ability to beat children and avoid disciplinary meetings...
...allegedly.

CBS Sports has there own slightly expanded writeup here - LINK
Interestingly, CBS links to their own speculative piece on how the ACL injury likely pushes Gurley into the 2nd round of the NFL draft, in part because the standard recovery time puts his estimated date for being field-ready well into camp now.

Why was he even in the game in the first place? It was a three posession game with 5 minutes in the fourth left. I understand shaking off some of the rust, but come on Georgia. Be smart.

He's a great running back. Hopefully he recovers quickly.

Hope he has a full recovery and a long NFL career.
