I'm sure Larry is dialed-in to Harbaugh's next move. I don't think Larry has any idea what he is talking about in regard to Harbaugh. I think his other comments are interesting. Our team does seem soft (example, MSU game).

The few times I ve seen Foote introduce himself before an NFL telecast (maybe before a Super Bowl?, don t see these player intros too often), he never said Larry Foote, University of Michigan. Always his high school ( or maybe hometown, don t remember exactly). Almost every other player said his college after his name. Maybe Foote has bad vibes toward U of M, maybe he didn t graduate, who knows. Could be saying this just to bust chops. Just sayin. Or..he could be right, we ll see. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

It wasn't like he claimed any insider knowledge. A random reporter asked him a question and he answered it, based on the fact that JH is a current, successful NFL head coach who wouldn't "lower" himself to coach a college team. Nothing more nothing less.

Regarding "trust fund babies", I took that to be a shot at the team's toughness. I think his key phrase is "they're just happy." Said another way, glad they're there but not willing to put in the effort to be winners. Maybe he's right and maybe he isn't, but this team sure has been pushed around a lot.

It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't come to UM, but in this situation my guess is Larry Foote doesn't know much more than most about Harbaugh's intentions.

I agree with a few things Foote says. These kids are entitled. Countess wearing #2 is a disgrace. Gardner wearing #98 is a disgrace. Funchess has not earned #1. What have these kids done? That stems from leadership. Frank Clark and Jake Ryan play hungry......I dont care what anyone on this board says, I get the feeling that those two and a few more are the only kids that would run through a wall for M. This all stems from leadership of course, and we need someone to come in and shake it all up. I want someone to come in look Countess in the eye and ask him why he is wearing 2. Obviously he wont be able to look ar Gardner and say that. I'm not sayin we ne need to go into the hood, but I get that he is talking about hungriness, and something that needs to be earned. An attitude change. We can all talk about x's and o's and I know this board loves stats, spread, etc, etc, but its a mindset. Neg away.....

I know a lot of former Michigan players personally...and I used to play a bit...these players almost ALWAYS blame the current players. They are emotionally attached to the coaches. If you've ever played organized sports, and everyone is coming down on a 'father figure' of yours...a coach who helped you a lot...that you trust...you try to protect them.

You always blame the current players.

All I can say is...this is why we do NOT let players, or former players choose the fate of a coach...we'd never get the change we need.

So, take what Foote says with a grain of salt and know that the current players are only as tough, mean and effective as the coaches that are coaching them.

One down (Brandon)...One to go (Hoke)

Go Blue.

and why are fans any more equipped to make a judgement? Fans are restless but they have pretty much a single criteria as their basis of dissatisfaction. Nothing irritates me more though than the smug fan who never played college ball making definitive statements on player development and the like. If Hoke was nearly as bad as some here charge there would be so many more issues than what there are. Amazingly he's kept the team focused and playing hard.

The one crystal clear conclusion I drew from that coach-firing diary was that any program that lets the fans decide is in serious trouble.

Maybe Missouri needed to move on from Warren Powers--I have no idea. But they didn't fire him because they'd evaluated their program and chosen a better path, they did it because the fans told them to. And, even worse, they acknowledged that that was why they'd done it. They were decades digging themselves out of that hole. It's sort of like negotiating with terrorists--once you open that door even a fraction you can't ever get it closed again.

Ignore the noise. Find good football people and let them evaluate your program, then do what you need to do. If you get it right the fans will forget they ever wanted you to do something else. If you follow the fans' advice and get it wrong they'll never forgive you.

As long as Michigan gets a great coach, it doesn't have to be Jim Harbaugh.  I would love to see him "come home" and have everyone live happily ever after, but I, for one, am not holding my breath.  There are some great coaches out there.  Jim Harbaugh is not the only coach out there who could turn Michigan football from a "sleeping giant" into a top five program again.

The only thing I hope is that they hire a coach with a track record of success.  No more guys with sub-.500 records in lesser conferences and no more "hot assistants:" it's time to get a real coach again and support him this time.

We focused TOOO much on Miles back in 2007....and now we are doing the same thing with Harbaugh again.

We need to all talk more about Plan B guys....so we are prepared when JH doesn't come.

I say:

2. Patterson / TCU (I'd love to get this guy!)

3. Mullen / MSU

4. Kirby Smarkt / Bama

5. 'Less Morals' / LSU

If Jim wins the rest of his games and the 49ers make the playoffs or a super bowl, I think he's staying. If the 49ers miss the playoffs or lose in the first round. Jim get fired and Michigan is willing to offer him a top salary then I think there will be a good chance Jim will be our next coach.

In any event the University should be making Jim their first priority as HC. If he's not available then go to your list of your next 5 top coaches.

Early on I thought there was a 1 percent chance of getting Jim, now I think there is a 30 to 40 percent of getting Jim. My guess he will stay in the NFL for a while even if the 49ers fire him. I think our best chance at a top name coach would be Les Miles. Miles may like some aspects of the SEC but he knows it will be difficult for his LSU team to make the playoffs in the years ahead. So, I think he would love to go to the B1G where things are less competitive. His current LSU team would easily win the B1G this season!

Larry Foote played at Michigan, but his statements, like all statements regarding future fb coach, are pure speculation based on nothing substantial. Until Home and staff are officially gone, then no one has any idea what is happening. If and when that happens, whoever leads the search should sell the job to Harbaugh that he could be the second coming of Bo. The situation in Ann Arbor is eerily similar to the few years prior to Bo.

Well I doubt anyone else can read this.  Who needs a dissenting opinion?  Just get told what you want to hear right?  Fox News FTW!!!

But the real story here is the "trust fund babies" comment.

Just sayin'.

Who knows, Larry doesn't, I tend to agree with him and am not getting my hopes up on Harbaugh. I think there is a reason why most coaches don't come back to college as long as the NFL is still knocking on your door.

No team had more trust fund babies than the Michigan basketball team that had the National Championship stolen from them against Louisville. Its all about coaching bruh

I have to agree with Larry.  Jim Harbaugh is a savage competitor.  His burning desire is to be the very best.  To be the best, you compete vs. the best, in the best football league in the world.  Also, he spent 15yrs+ as an NFL QB.  The NFL is his world, and I doubt seriously that he would uproot the family and give up his prime years in the NFL to move back to AA.  Its just not happenin.

This is coming from anybody and everybody who actually knows Jim Harbaugh.  He isn’t playing it off and he isn’t ambiguous, his dream job according to his friends and former teammates is to coach Michigan.  The problem with most people is they cannot understand why Jim would “take a step back” and go to college.”  I’m told Jim doesn’t see it that way, he sees it has the best job in the world.  He reveres Bo Schembechler and would jump at the chance to return to Michigan to fix the program.  Harbaugh has told many that he doesn’t need a Super Bowl or to live in the Bay Area, that is all speculation that was fabricated by the national media. Harbaugh doesn’t have close relationships with ANYBODY in the media and has certainly never been quoted as saying he wanted a Super Bowl Championship because his brother and “arch enemy” Pete Carroll have one.  All of the national media speculation is ridiculous because NOT ONE can offer a single quote from Harbaugh supporting their version of the story.

Larry foote was a good player here, but he isn't saying anything in that interview that half of this board hasn't already said. And Larry's information on the matter sounds like it is about as extensive as the half here who constantly say that.

If I was white and said the opposite of what Larry Foote just said....that would be dissected all over the news as being a racist comment! Unbelievable!!!
