CC: Pat Narduzzi
Edit: he is not my first choice, but it seems like a possibility, so it warrants a thread.

We didn't hire Bo directly off Woody's staff. He spent five years as a head coach at Miami-Oh. That's an important distinction.

Narduzzi is a hater and an a-hole. I don't want him in AA,.

There's no guarantee that Jim Harbaugh or Les Miles will come to Michigan. There aren't many good and realistic coaching candidates who are currently a HC at the moment. Michigan might be better off rolling the die on a coordinator who had success on their side of the ball and he could very well become a HR hire over time. You guys are afraid of taking risks that you rather have a medicore coach who has HC experience as opposed to up and coming coordinator who can make the program great.

You're just question begging.

I want someone who can score against Narduzzi

He would have a chance at being hired, he has never been a head coach ( as spoken above) and also i think we all can agree we need a homerun hire here, I did read an article today that said Jim Harbaugh will not be returning to san francisco even if they win the super bowl..

I don't want some mincing fancy-pants in toe shoes and a tu-tu coaching at Michigan. Screw "Swan Lake."
October 5th, 2014 at 11:52 PM ^
and they didn't even let him coach, either.

I have the feeling that OBC is getting close to retirement, especially with the way their season has gone. You've got to think that the person who is first offered the job is Dantonio, a South Carolina alum.

You cite the rare exceptions. What about Bobby WIlliams while you're at it? You can find plenty of rookie HCs who failed.

Bobby Williams was never even a coordinator let alone a head coach before he got VOTED into the job. Yes, basically the team voted him head coach and Ron Mason agreed. That was pure stupidity.

I really think Michigan fans should come to grips with the fact that there are only a small number of "home run" hires out there, and even fewer that are realistic -- for a variety of reasons.
To my mind, the biggest issue with most of the "home run" guys is that they're already employed elsewhere, and at places at which they're loved and successful. Unless one of these guys has a special affinity for Michigan, they're not likely to just up and leave because Hoke is fired. Miles, IMO, iis the only "home run" type hire (and that lable isn't held by a lot of LSU fans) that has such an affinity for Michigan. All the others are pointless to even entertain.
I listened to the same thing from Texas fans when they were thinking about/looking for a new coach -- there was even a time when people were seriously trying to claim that UT might get Saban. As I said, IMO, Michigan swings for the fence with Miles, and if he's not going to leave LSU, they need to have a serious list of guys who are successful HC at smaller schools, and top coordinators from Power 5 schools who are recognized as ready to take the next step in their careers.
So many in here are making completely unrealistic demands about who the next coach needs to be. Narduzzi, although I dislike him and think that he wouldn't take the job, is someone that Michigan should be thinking about. He's a proven winner, he knows the State of Michigan, the B10, and has shown the ability to develop talent. There are a lot of guys like him around the nation. But, if Michigan fans are insisting upon dating a super model, I think they're going to be highly disappointed.

My gut (I am working on it, shut up!) tells me you're correct. As I said above, Michigan has to have a plan, and that plan has to involve a real search in which it does an exhaustive search of the coaching community from top to bottom. Miles and Harbaugh are obvious, and Michigan should offer them both. But, I want Michigan to conduct a real "search" in which Michigan uses all its resources and and finds its THE guy, regardless of where they find him.
No limits, not pre-judging, just find him and hire him. Somewhere out there is a guy who experienced coaches and AD's have a sneaking suspicion about, who people around him will point to and say, "that guy there, he's going to be one of the greats in time ..."

I think if we go the coordinator route we look at who are the best coaches in the land and steal one of their OC. May be DC but I think OC will be more important. Remember Stoops tutelage under Snyder, probably one of the best coaches in the country.

Hasn't this guy repeatedly expressed his hatred of Michigan? Like, just as much as Dantonio?

Too much history of REAL success to ignore. They will be HCs very soon at an upper level Power5 school.
