DO NOT GO TO YOUR SEATS UNTIL AFTER KICKOFF.
WAIT OUTSIDE SECTION GATES, AND TOGETHER WE CAN:
DESTROY BRANDON'S UTL BABY WHILE STILL SUPPORTING THE TEAM.
DEMONSTRATE OUR 'OUTSTANDING' RELATIONSHIP WITH THE AD
DISPATCH BRANDON BEFORE HE DESTROYS THE PRIDE OF OUR UNIVERSITY
IMAGINE:
AN EMPTY STUDENT SECTION FROM THE BLIMP CAM ON NATIONAL TV
AN EMBARASSED BRANDON ON THE SIDELINE
A SCHOOL UNITED IN ITS RESOLVE
SUPPORT THE TEAM &
END BRANDON SATURDAY
HE IS NOT MICHIGAN. WE ARE.

Based on all caps alone.

That. Is not fair. To the players. Who I have far more respect for than the AD.
Edit:
WOW, IF THIS IS REAL THEN FORGET THAT LAST STATEMENT. GIVE EM HELL STUDENTS.

Keith Olbermann used it as the basis for naming Brandon the Worser Person in the Sports World last Friday.

You can't be serious. You really think that walking in the door 5 minutes after kickoff will embarrass the athletic department?
October 5th, 2014 at 2:28 PM ^
This idea seems semi reasonable. Can you imagine the opening shot on ABC (or ESPN 8 the Ocho, or whatever it ends up airing on) and the student section is all but empty? Not to mention empty seats will likely be scattered around the stadium anyway? That might send a stronger message to Schlissel and the regents than anyone else.

Does this mean that MSU students protest every game?
October 5th, 2014 at 2:31 PM ^
Completely agree!
The entire student section also needs to bring "Fire Dave Brandon" signs. How much would it cost to print out 10,000 8x11 "Fire Dave Brandon" signs? Can we get some alumni and donors to fund it and volunteers to pass them out at the student section gate?
October 5th, 2014 at 2:35 PM ^
Engineers get 1.5k printing pages per semester, and I don't know any of us who actually use nearly that much. If you really want 8x11s, it could be done for free rather easily.
October 5th, 2014 at 2:43 PM ^
I like this, but I'd prefer one of those coordinated efforts that spells something out that's visible from above (with each person holding part of one letter / the space in between). How doable is that? I can't imagine you'd get too many students saying, "No, sorry, I'm a DB supporter."
October 5th, 2014 at 2:55 PM ^
Dude that's a great idea. How many engineers are on the board and would be willing to print out a 100 pieces of "FIRE DAVE BRANDON!". If i can get emails I'll create the sign and email it out to the engineers who would then have to go print out 100 copies. We would then meet 30-45 minutes before kickoff and start handing them out. Depending on how many engineers we have that would send a loud and clear message to Brandon and his cronies!

Why not go next level, and take small contributions from the student body and fans, and hire a plane to carry a banner carrying text of your collective choosing?
If a bunch of phish fans can do this in celebration of a rock band, I bet the empassioned students and fans of a football program like Michigan's can make it happen. From what I remember, it cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $2k to get a plane to carry a banner for an hour around a soccer stadium in Denver...
A similar tactic, carrying a pointed message about DB, could make an impression, me thinks...as well as some headlines.

Given that we've had swaths of empty seats for every game, I don't know how strong a message this will send.
Better to keep contacting the Regents and Schlissel and sign the petition.
October 5th, 2014 at 2:57 PM ^
reason that people can't do both.
October 5th, 2014 at 2:31 PM ^
Penn State travels well and they seem to be happy with their hire.
I think the big pockets of white in that stadium at nite will make an impact as well.

Can't speak for anyone else but I support the team. That's why I want to see them have competent coaching and administration.

Can we create some big ass signs for people to march around with and spread the message near Gate 10?
October 5th, 2014 at 2:37 PM ^
I like that the students are trying something. Lord knows the AD doesnt seem to give a shit that the football team sucks and eveybody outside of Steven Ross and the womens field hockey team and the men's rowing team hate him.
But hey guys...did you SEE how sweet the new woman's cross country locker room is? We are going to fucking OWN woman's cross country in the B1G - no doubt about it.
October 5th, 2014 at 3:03 PM ^
We do. Women's XC is one of the top programs in the nation. They also receive almost no funding at all. They're one of the few teams that actually really deserves it.

And I dont think you understand that the backs upon which all these wonderful improvements have been made are broken. I know it just seems impossible to fathom but last year I decided I know longer wished to be forced to financially support sports I dont give a shit about and gave up my season tickets.
October 5th, 2014 at 4:54 PM ^
That is a valid position. I can understand that.
My point is that supporting things you don't care about comes with the territory. U of M is a community, not a company.
The backs are likely broken more because of DB's failure to understand that you are part of the community, not a customer. He seems to only be concerned with current players and coaches. Likely, why many of them support him publicly. And likely why many not within those categories despise him publicly.

Really? What exactly do non-revenue athletes DO for the University? I'm honestly interested in learning why the University spends millions on a women's field hockey (or any other non-revenue sport) that gives back to, what, the 20 girls on the team? Hell, maybe an academic achievement center would be a nice thing to provide to students who are actually paying their way through school.
October 5th, 2014 at 4:46 PM ^
Michigan Football- 110 athletes, $5,303,376 in operating expenses for an average of $48,213 per athlete. Head coach earns in excess of $4,000,000.
Michigan women's track- 122 athletes, $554,490 in operating expenses for an average of $3,577 per athlete. Head coach earns less than $200,000.
There is not a single thing money can buy that's useful to recruiting or winning games that Michigan football goes without for the sake of women's track.
October 5th, 2014 at 2:39 PM ^
I mean, it's not like they're in their seats for kickoff anyway. What's another fifty kids in the concourse if it proves a point?

Penn State morons were slow and still defiant to denounce Patterno, their athletic dept, and their school in general.
This act sends a clear message that we care more about the well being of players, students, the community, and our school more than winning, fly-overs, and front-row mega fan sections.
Glad- That I WAS NOT and never will be associated with Penn State

Man this argument is so annoying. People will sit through and take a bunch of BS when the team is winning, granted, but not sitting through and taking the same BS while also watching the team lose doesn't make the BS any less BS.
October 5th, 2014 at 3:37 PM ^
I've turned my back to every kick someone has ever made after an incident a few yrs ago, so I don't just do it when we're losing.
