Joey Galloway's comments during yesterday's game

Submitted by DenverRob on
Joey Galloway: "I am the fastest person in the big house today." in reference to the interview with shoelace. Denard polite as always said nothing. "Funchess is a bigger body, Michigan needs someone to take the top off of defenses." Funchess, chesson, Hayes and Norfleet all have sub 4.5 speed. Several comments about the interior dline when app state ran the ball when the game was over and back ups were in the game. Chris Spielman can call a game without bias. Robert Smith does a nice job in the studio. Kirk can call a good game. Why is Joey the most biased color commentator? ...and do we get them again this season? I also think the former PSU commentators do a nice job as well with out bias.

I think it's interesting that Michigan doesn't have a complete "homer" play-by-play guy that does our games.  Even Bob Griese was pretty impartial and he was doing Brian's games -- now THAT is a professional.  Desmond is on CGD, and I think he's very imparital, but he doesn't do play-by-play that I've seen.

Robert Smith and Spielman unbiased?  My ass.  Loved how yesterday, when referring to the elite programs in the nation, Smith opened a sentence with "Alabama and Ohio State" and named no others.

Watch the Ohio/Mich game Spielman called again, and note he devotes 70% of his comments toward Ohio players.

I can't believe how much college football audio now gets filtered through the lips of so many damned ex-Buckeyes.  There should be a quota and they've far exceeded it.

I didn't notice that he was that bad yesterday but I lost respect for him earlier in the week when he was in College Football Live (or other espn show) and when talking BIG10 he obviously talked MSU and OSU but when asked about Michigan he said that they just don't have the talent to compete. Now I know recruiting sites don't mean everything but you would think he would see that we have put together some great classes and the one thing we do have is young Talent !! May not be translating to the field yet but there is talent there. (It did on Sat) Do your homework Joey! When the BIG10 network guys went to AA that's what they highlighted the talent that's there. Note- I don't think I notice commentating because I come here to much and try to observe the topics/ issues brought up here. Which is much more relevant than what they are jawing about.

I had the game on, and my wife said, "That woman is terrible." I responded, "She has to keep talking, because Joey Galloway sits there for minutes at a time without saying anything."

And when Galloway did say something, it was frequently anti-UM. And yes, arguing the facemask late hit call was a bit much. I find Spielman to be very fair to UM, pretty much the same for Kirk and Smith. Joey has to go.

It's games like these when I wish I spoke another language so that I could switch to that feed and save myself the trouble of listening to former Buckeyes try to string together full sentences.

I don't blame Joey.  He had to sit through a Michigan blowout and it probably reminded him of the beatdowns Michigan put on him.  Kind of like PTSD for Ohio players.

games.  It really doesn't matter to me who is calling a game, I don't even think about in fact.  If I flip to the ND game, I want to see how they are doing.  When I turn on CBS sports to see Ohio State/Navy, I am more interested in the fact that it is 14-13 Navy than if Vern and Gary are the broadcasters.  When I watch Bears games, it doesn't matter to me if Joe Buck and Troy Aikman or Daryl Johnston and whoever are calling it, I am just glad to be watching the Bears.

I get why some people are concerned with the announcers, so mute it.  As for the bias, I woiuld argue that if some of us were Buckeyes fans, we would  scream that Brian Griese is so biased for Michigan.  It seems to work against what you are in favor of.

Spielman is really good.  He is insightful and he offers commentary other than the usual twaddle that seems to be geared towards 7 year olds who are just learning about the game of football.  Spielman is one of the few guys who points out things that Brian later points out in his UFRs.  Blackledge is decent at this too and so is Ed(?) Cunningham, who for some reason people don't like.

He and Sean McDonough make a wonderful pair.  They are probably the most critical guys in their jobs in the business and for some reason I love listening to them get offended when a team is playing like shit in front of them.
