Flate 12's Walkabout Pale Ale. A local beer, it's dogshit.  Later I'll have Three Floyd's Alpha King Pale Ale, not dogshit.

I hate talking bad about a brewery, because it's usually full of hard working guys, but aside from their cucumber kolsch, everything I have had from them at flat 12 tastes like homebrew, I went into their taproom a couple months ago and they were serving out of jockey boxes into dollar general plastic cups. It was a pretty big let down.

In the backyard enjoying a Loire valley rosé while trying to write performance reviews.  It's a nice rosé, but nothing can make writing performance reviews enjoyable.

Screwdrivers in a little downtown Fort Myers tavern.  Last time for three months.  It's finally time to return to the sports bar (Leeroy Selmon's) for football season.

Me and Mrs. Brewer just got back from Charleston and Savannah, taking it easy tonight with some subway, tigers, clearing the DVR and NASCAR racing at BRISTOL BABY!

Kentucky bourbon barrell ale, not bad at all.

I've also been wanting to try a legit hard farmhouse cider (not like the woodchuck or angry orchard stuff) but dont know where to look, any suggestions?

They're out there, but usually hard to find in my experience.  You don't usually see them in grocery stores.  One that I've occasionally found at least seasonally is Angry Orchard Strawman Farmhouse.  It's harder than their other stuff, I think like 10% alcohol compared to the typical 5-6% you normally see.

If I can't find that, I actually like Angry Orchard in general... some of their varieties are very flavorful and layered compared to a lot of the other ho hum brands out there.  If you've only tried one, I recommend trying some other varieties.  But that's just me, I suppose.

I also strongly recommend making yourself a stonewall sometime, if you haven't already.  It's probably my favorite mixed drink outside of the standard old whiskey and Coke.  I'd figure you're probably open to the idea since you like bourbon ale.  It's basically just bourbon and hard cider (or just regular cider,) and if you're like me you'll add some cinnamon, maybe nutmeg, ginger... I've heard of people adding cloves or lemon juice too, though I've never done it. It's an awesome drink to heat up on a cold autumn night as well, around the camp fire or whatever.

I am drinking in the sweet success of the Jackie Robinson West baseball team from Chicago, who just won the U.S. Little League World Series on a double play. They play South Korea tomorrow.

Mountain Dew Voltage to something a little stronger.

I picked up a growler at the newest local brewpub on my 3rd visit there (they just opened up in early August), Arclight Brewery in nearby Watervliet, MI.  First fill is their tasty IPA, called When Worlds Collide.  I would honestly rate this IPA among the top 10% of all IPA's I've ever enjoyed.  Perfect balance, and the lingering bitterness after the last sip leaves you longing for another...and another...and another.

of Benton Harbor/St. Joe, in northern Berrien County.

As I've complained before, we're the 'orphan'/red-headed stepchild/outcast of the Lower Penninsula.  Chicago thinks they own us, and the FCC allows South Bend to own us, so I get absolutely no Michigan TV stations even though I'm just a half-hour from Kalamazoo.  Only having FoxSportsDetroit and the BigTen Network keeps me from total isolation and  insanity.

Fortunately, though, I no longer have to go far for a good IPA or Stout!

Gonna be drinking some gross liquor as I wonder around East Lansing's giant, miserably developed, campus.

Some Ketel One and lemonade with nips of some good old Tennessee moonshine. The grill is loaded with venison steaks and veggie kabobs. Cheers everyone! Go Blue!

some Bell's Mars IPA when i'm in Kalamazoo this coming Thursday.  I just read yesterday about their "Planets" series of brews and I don't understand why they only are planning 7: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.  No Earth, and predictably, Pluto again goets dissed.
