Uniformz: Is this the UTL III vs. Penn State jersey?

Submitted by JR's Flow on

So I received the M Den's HTTV catalogue today and right on the first page was the disaster seen below.

Now the catalogue says nothing about it being the in game jersey but it is named: adidas 2014 Premier Navy #98 Night Game Football Jersey.

So does anyone now if this is a thing or not? If so, these could be up there with the MSU bumblebee jerseys.

...but it also supports everyone who says "yes, these jerseys look like shit, but the kids love them...WD is a MGoExample of his generation."

We just don't understand.

BTW, these aren't nearly as bad if they look like the OP. My guess is they'll roll out in some brownish/dingy throwback yellow pants to go with this.

Do they wear leather helmets is all I want to know...

You may hate him but trust me, Dave Brandon loves, loves, LOVES him.

When our AD says he wants/gets input from fans I picture a focus group somewhere with a room full of Wolverine Devotee type people all nodding their head in excitement as Michigan's marketing department rolls one new idea after another at them.

Yup. There's almost no doubt in my mind that Wolverine Devotee has done more to promote the Michigan brand than anybody actually employed by the AD for marketing purposes.

DB should be made aware of this and pay the guy. Or at least give him a nice discounted rate on all the garb he buys. WD must be emptying his bank account to get all these new uniformz.

While I'm flattered you think I'd even be considered for a job on here, that would never happen.

I'm not a journalist. I'm going to school for graphic design. I won some awards in a statewide convention for high school newspapers for some of my art. I thought I was going to be a sportswriter when I was a sophomore in high school, but I am way too biased. I scored 99/100 on my college placement test for writing but there's much more to it than just a test score.

I have no experience, no qualifications and I'm pretty young to have a serious job like that. I'm just a poster on here.

Besides, I rather be hated for I am than liked for who I'm not.

until that last sentence:

"Besides, I rather be hated for I am than liked for who I'm not."    You should have proofread that before hitting the 'save' button.

Even though you omitted a word or two, I am impressed with your self-assessment of what is more important, being true to yourself vs. putting on a front (in an effort to achieve popularity).

Everything.

The history, the experience, the united feeling of going to games and having 110,000+ people around you that love Michigan.

I express myself through my fandom, art and appearance.

Some of my earliest memories are watching Michigan games with family.

What good is enjoying the history of the program if it's constantly changing, though?  Doesn't Michigan lose some of its claim to history and uniqueness if we're always trying to be like other teams?  To me, getting excited about doing what's "all the rage nowadays" is the exact opposite of liking the history.

A change in the uniform is history. Michigan has a long history of uniform changes. Whether they be in material, design or a small tweak. It's only recently where the major one game changes have happened.

The fact that they wear them once makes it even more a piece of history.

One of a kind.

(I just got these recently for my birthday. No, I am not that guy who wears the receiver gloves for tailgating and whatever other activity. They're for display only. All of my gloves are. I just took this to show my lady friend what I bought that day.)

You appear to have the investment insight and creepy hoarder mentality of an old lady who collects decorative plates.  Not exactly something you want to show off to the ladies.

I thought, was horrid.  At least these stripes are subtle.

I actually wish Michigan would stay with the basic uniform they've had since the 1950s and much like PSU and 'Bama, leave it alone.  I've accepted that it isn't to be so I see this particular jersey as non-traditional, but not "in your face" non-traditional.

We'll be seen as absolute innovators as random ass dark stripes cross our "Iconic" jerseys. Who needs tradition when you can tweak something that's already perfect and synergize it to create additional cash flow resources that can spearhead additional development. This takes advantage of the Michigan Knowledge Base in order to stretch the envelope regarding our team dynamics.

But seriously, the only reason the AD does this is to make money. If people stop buying 1-off jerseys (which... isn't the Michigan home jersey perfect? Get one of those!) they'll stop making them
